  1. Starting this saturday, i will flying from new york to san francisco. there i will be working on a 97 legacy for about a week. i will then proceed to drive it across the country.... im thinking of a more northern route... so something liek through nevada then colorado.. and so on.. i plan on leaving between the 3rd-5th of august to begin the roadtrip.. i will probably be back in new york by the 9th or 10th.. if there are any subaru meets during that time anywhere... please post them here.. i would be glad to stop by as many as i can / and any subaru meet i can as i drive across the country Thanks!
  2. so ironically, the button that notifies everyone that i am having car failure.. has failed... im hoping... its an independent fuse.. and all i have to do is swap it. otherwise ill most likely have to take apart the dash and follow those wires.... any ideas...? Thanks!
  3. Does anyone know the offset on the stock steel rims that use the 185/70 r14 tires? and what offset would be optimal for a 205/50 R16? Thanks
  4. Hah. yeah, the above two posts are very true. butttttttt deep down... he probably wants an sti.. even if he doestn say so.. hah. my friend got an sti when he was 16. he was one of the kids that didnt wreck his car. he had a lot of experience with cars and a lot of safety drilled into his head when he was younger. i feel like a fast car and a young driver isnt always a good combo but it really does depend on the person. even a new driver with any car no matter how fast or slow has to understand "time and place" if s/he wants to fool around in a car. i think the imprezas from the past few year are great cars. a base model legacy is also a great starter car. any of those from 03-06 i would like...
  5. how does anyone feel about the haynes repair manuals? are they good? especially for the 97 legacy L ? thanks
  6. hmm thats odd.. i woulda said the opposite... was there a reason behidn what you heard? ceramics are supposed to hold up well against heat especially when being heated constantly especialyl over a period of time...
  7. thanks for teh replies! ill look into that. any suggestions on the kind of brake pads i should get? theres so many differnt options... some suggestions from some people that have previously changed their pads woudl be nice. thanks!
  8. the brake fluid needs to be replaced... suggestions? im a big diy person... and im pretty handy. so any help would be great. thanks
  9. is there a cold air intake for this year and model? (the non GT model) or is there a kit to remove the intake silencer? thanks
  10. thanks for all the info. well the scenario is.. i have just been given the car. it is currently in california. i am in new york. i will be flying to california to spend a week. i will then be driving it to new york. the ac is broken so i was hoping in the week that i will be there.. i could get that looked at/ diagnosed/ fixed. i just wanted to get a jump on what i should do as soon as i get there... that way i have an idea already. i think the ac has been broken for a while now.. how likely is it that it just needs a recharge? i was just hoping to get general ideas of any possible reason it coudl be broken. thanks a lot!
