Yes all l series / xt struts fit but there are 4 different factory lengths. Did it alter the ride height of the car?
  4. What is the theory of the cold / warm cat? that sounds interesting...
  5. nncoolg replied to Vortex's topic in Members Rides
Yeah, I dont have a good glovebox latch aye, sorry. Do you plan on replacing the factory radio?
  6. someone with decent original decals should take a photo of them so we can keep a library here, sounds like it would help in situations like this...
  7. nncoolg replied to Vortex's topic in Members Rides
    I'll check it out...

Cool. As time goes on I'm surprised how many Vortex's are actually around! I have a set of headlight pod switches to suit the '85 that would probably fix your beam issue too if you're interested:cool:

  10. nncoolg replied to Vortex's topic in Members Rides
when you get them, would you mind taking some photos with a tape measure next to them for future reference purposes? ta. BTW, are you able to turn-on Private Messages?

im interested to hear what struts you got? normally all you can get here in australia are leone struts which are higher... Im currently wrecking a 85 model, so if you are chasing some parts let me know... One thing that may be useful is the back seat upholstery and foam, its good and already removed because I needed the frame. cheers.
  12. That 'subaru gears' website looks like they have some good gear aye. An AWD beetle would be awesome! BTW, Presslab - I've been trying to contact you but the emails must not be getting through, could you please PM me? cheers!
  13. all good things, agree 100% about the areas needing attention aye. I think the next set I do I will cut the valve guide and surrounding lump all the way back level with the ports, I reckon with the length of the guides they will be okay like that.
  14. That is very cool. I imagine that would be a very useful feature. So, can you update your tune while the ECU is in the car, or do you have remove it and put the chip in the eeprom burner?
  15. Would it be possible to make the CEL light at high temp seen by the CTS? May be a useful fail safe warning to draw attention to the dash...
  16. its a shame these fell by the way-side, were there ever any used?
  17. the bottom part of those EJ IAC valves are prone to corrode and seize if the coolant hasnt been cared for, it may be jammed, take the electric part off and see if the spigot turns.
  18. A guy over here does one too for the Gen1 RS Liberty (EJ20T) called the 'Vos Chip'
  19. coming along nicely!
  20. No worries I just uploaded my finished port job pictures in the post I had reserved. I think this is another 2 cuts of the ER27 heads you mentioned in your top post I found somewhere a while ago: I think there were a whole lot of photos originally, but I could never find them all when I went looking, I think the links were down. I remember a lot of yellow superimposed lines, showing the performed cuts??? Perhaps someone has them archived and could add them to this library... Actually, this is the threads I originally saw years ago : http://subaruxt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=7121&p=66398&hilit=+xt6+porting#p66398 and here : http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=71766
  21. I suppose I should show you the finished port job after I welded the heads back together... Just Kidding:brow:, done to a different set of heads:
  22. cont... Again... Outlet bulges: IMO the intake ports are quite good (also above), exception of course is the castings for HLA buckets protruding inside I like this cut - it shows the very awkwardly shaped EXH port, the very long valve guide, and the amount of meat that is cast around the HLA buckets: You can see how undercut the seat is in places, also shows bridge crack: These ones also show the shape of the EXH port and quite a bit of material that could be cut out around the guide, which in my opinion could also be shortened:
