  1. I ended up with a Dewalt 24 volt recip that I found in a pawn shop for $60.00. This thing is awesome! I scored a nice rust free pair of rockers with it. A spare battery or 2 and you could cut up a whole car with it. The only down side is the 24 volt batteries are harder to find than the 18 volt ones.
  2. Congratulations! I would like to see pictures. What trans are you using, and which adapter? How is the clearance between the frame rails? I always thought an EJ22 and an XT6 5MT would be a nice combination for Brat.
  3. I have an EA81T Brat. It's nice if you have one already, but not worth the trouble to convert in my opinion. For all the trouble you are going to go through just do a NA EJ22E conversion instead. You end up with more power, less work, and it will be easier to find parts for. -Jeff
  4. Since the cylinder pressure is up now because of the re-ring you may have to retard the timing slightly. If you are still using the SPFI you have to connect the green check connectors under the dash when you set the timing I think. Otherwise just try backing it off a little.
  5. A CARFAX Vehicle History Report is based only on information supplied to CARFAX. CARFAX checked over 6 billion vehicle history events and found 13 record(s) for this 2004 SUBARU IMPREZA RS AWD (JF1GD67524H510340). 6. Battery powered tools are allowed here but not much else.
  7. @subaru360 I must have the original HG's after all:rolleyes: On the passenger side I see one rusty inner layer with a single outer layer separating from each side. I wonder how they have managed to last over 200K? It looks like I'll be doing them, but so far it runs great. @Durania I'll put some pictures of it up as soon as we dry out a little bit.
  8. DAS did it again. I just picked up the RS today. It shipped all the way across the country and it looks great! Although I have all of the service records it's hard to tell if the head gaskets were ever replaced. Is there an easy way to tell by looking?
  9. Sooner or later I am going to need a cordless sawzall for cutting parts out of cars in the local P-A-P. Does anyone have anything specific to recommend? Prices, brands, and battery voltages are all over the map. What would be best value for the price with good battery life for sheetmetal/body panels, floor pans, ect? Thanks, -Jeff
  10. Show me some pictures. Maybe I'll trade you my 83 turbo Brat with a 4 speed. Mine has about 100,000 miles less than yours does, but it has some rust. http://s428.photobucket.com/albums/qq6/XT6_Magic/83%20Brat%20Turbo/ -Jeff
  11. Coolant leaks at the intake manifold gasket are common on these engines
  12. Or just run a self tapping screw through it.
