  1. What subaru360 said. Older Legacies (through '94) were OBD-1, wouldn't be able to communicate with the newer OBD-2 computer ('95 on).
  2. Welcome aboard, curtis! You should be able to find just about everything you need to know about your Subie here. The search function is your friend--most things have been covered at one time or another. Then ask questions, you'll find that people here are extremely helpful. Good luck.
  3. Congrats. Just be thankful--getting the old one loose is usually the PITA part!
  4. You got it! 22mm, longer handle is better 'cause you're gonna need some leverage to crack it free. Penetrating oil then a bit of warm up really helps. Good luck.
  5. I say yes. Others may disagree, although I've yet to hear a logical explanation of why. Bought a Bosch universal on Amazon recently, $42 with free shipping.
  6. Well Twitch, you just gotta' be . . . . . . fasterthantheoldman!
  7. Welcome home, garwood! Must be nice wheeling along those beautiful country roads in your sweet new Subaru. Just be careful (I've noticed they tend to drive on the wrong side over there!!!) Seriously, how is Subaru ownership in Merrie Olde? Do you see many on the road? Parts & service readily available or are you handy with the spanners? At any rate, good luck to you. Hope we can be of some help.
  8. Welcome Fuz! Sounds like you did okay with your purchase. Do keep in mind that your 2.2, unlike the earlier ones, is an interference design. But just stay on top of the regular and preventative maintenance and you should be a happy Subie driver for a long time. (They are happy cars to drive, aren't they?!!)
  9. Congratulations eulogious. I applaud your stick-to-it-iveness!
  10. Welcome aboard, soultron. I think you're gonna' like this place! Good luck with the Subie.
  11. Sorry about your bad experiences. I hope you'll be happier too. Drop in later on and let us know how it's going with the VW. Aloha and good luck!
  12. Welcome piston. Lotsa' helpful, knowledgable people on this board. By all means ask questions and keep us up on your progress. Good luck. Up, up and away!
  13. Congratulations badjer! Many happy miles of driving to you!
  14. Welcome motocrossrider. Good luck with the project. (You do realize that eventually pictures will be required?!!)
  15. Sorry if I offended you, northguy. I dearly loved both of my EA82 powered cars, drove them for many years. They are what sold me on Subaru technology. I certainly did not mean to imply that they are JUNK! But, as you admit, an EA82 would not be a good choice for a Legacy.
  16. Ooops! I totally misread what you were saying! I agree with Twitch, don't think it would be a wise move at all. It's your choice of course. But the EJ22 is generally considered to be better than any engine that came before it (and by many of us, better than those that have followed it!!!) At any rate, good luck with whatever you decide to do.
  17. Welcome aboard, garth. Post your questions in the New Gen forum--you'll get more responses there. Or try using the Search function, engine swaps are a well discussed topic. Good luck.
  18. That's upsetting to hear. I always thought of Purolator as a premier brand.
  19. Wow, looks pretty good for being left out for so long! Nice pix too. What year is it? Welcome! Good luck with your project, keep us posted on how it goes.
  20. Well I think you found the right place here, mysoob. Welcome aboard! Check out the Old Gen forum for stuff on your '88GL and the New Gen forum for info on the EJ22 engine, maybe the Mod forum for fitting the two together. Try out the Search function--this place is like an encyclopedia for Subies. Ask questions and share. Good luck with your project and keep us up on your progress.
  21. Welcome aboard, BadBob. You've found a great place here for help with your cars. Try posting your questions in the Old Gen forum--you'll probably get a lot of input there.
  22. Good luck. Sincerely. You have some very stiff criteria and I applaud you for that. Of course you know that there are no 100% guarantees in this world, but over 25 years we've had 4 Subies in the family (all bought used) and I've been pleased and impressed with every one! Let us know how it goes.
  23. Nice videos, good music selections. I really enjoyed! Quick question--how did you prep the gutterstrip trim over the windows for painting? Did you scrape off all the old black plastic covering first then sand the "chrome" base?
  24. Hi, welcome Sioux-baru. You'll like it here! Try posting your questions in the Old Gen forum, you'll get good input there, I'm sure.
