  1. An online service manual(s) would be great! My Brat is a 1986 ea81...would your project cover that?
  2. A funny thing happened on the way to the salvage yard...

  3. Good to meet you all! Subarus are the best vehicles. I miss my Brat...ive got to get off my rumpus and get it going. Fall is the best weather tops off cruisin the country side! I'll definitely check with you guys first if I need help. Peace
  4. Just wanted to see who all lives in Texas...where...and what kind of subie you own. I'm in AZLE/SPRINGTOWN and I own an 86 brat...bought it for $700. Its not running at this time because I havent had time to work on it so its been setting for 2yrs pending time.
  5. I'm just outside Ft. Worth. Azle-Springtown area off 199. I have an 86 Brat . Not running but maybe later on this year!?
  6. Thanks Subietech, Wow! Just when you think you got it all figured out someone comes along to shed another Light on the subject. Perhaps there needs to be a forum for PROVEN fixes with data? As it stands I can only search and go by the majority. By the way are you a technician? How long?
  7. I'll contact Caboobaroo...I believe he is the owner of the document I read. I'll let you know what I find out.
  8. I read that if I exchange the 4wd disty on my ea81 for one from a 2wd that I Would get better performance!? Can anyone confirm this mod?
  9. I'm still running the Hitachi carb and get 27-29 mpg. How much can I expect from the Weber setup?
  10. It's simple as to what is going on. Ever see HIGHLANDER? "There can be only one." Watch your backs Subies!
  11. Thanks for the replys! I'll be going by way of the Weber. Probably electric choke Model. Just a little apprehension because of emissions here in Texas...the thought of Unplugging hoses and cleaning up the engine bay sounds nice but not if I have to Put my tail between my legs from not passing inspection. Later yall!
  12. Thanks to all for the invaluable info. I did find on one site that with a 4" lift you could mount use 27"x8.5" wheels...!? Sounds promising.
  13. I'm thinking about 4" 's would do the trick. Does PK/BYB still exist? Ozified? Any other good lift kits and website info would be greatfully appreciated. I'm not having much luck in my searches. With a 4" lift what is the biggest tire setup I could use without cutting The fenders? BTW, I do plan on the 6 lug conversion so I can tap into the 15" Wheel market. Will I have any mods with a 4" lift? Driveshaft, steering rod etc? Thanks Btw I live in TX.
  14. I currently have a Hitachi carb on my 86' Brat EA81. I was wondering Which is considered better...a Hitachi carb upgrade or a Weber carb Replacement? Which has more bang for the buck?
  15. Thanks subiemech85, I currently have the regular Hitachi system on my car but it seems acording to post here that the weber setup is much better. I was happy with that info until I seen a Hitachi upgrade post. Which one gives the most bang for the buck?
  16. Thanks Bratman 18, Any views on the Hitachi upgrade or Weber 32/36 replacement?
  17. i'm confused as to whether the 86' Brat GL EA81 has a timing belt/chain or not. Can anyone help me on this? Also Is it better to do a Hitachi carb upgrade or a Weber 32/36 replacement? Thanks
