  1. Nice!!. Can we see it in action? Do you have any video to share? I love the look those Peugeot 505 rims gives to the car... that's something i've always wanted to do to my Loyale, fortunately I'm from Chile where Peugeot is a common car, unlike (i think so) in the US.
  2. ...just like that, trying to clean the TPS Sensor (that also contains the Idle Switch) I figured out too late it was made not to open, or ment to broke when you try to So I had to buy an used one, for 48.000 Chilean pesos (about 94 USD) I also bought a thickness gauge so I could get the right position to the sensor according to the repair manual (My car is a 93 Wagon with MPFI). The result is very good, the car runs smooth at idle and I don't get that "stall" feeling I used to have when I took away the foot from the gas pedal with the gear engaged. (doing so I felt the car like I was pushing the brake). Next thing to do is to replace the Oxigen Sensor, not an easy task since you have no space to do it, I think I'll have to take out or at least loose up the exhaust manifold (both of them). I'd like to ask you something... Is it true that retarding the ignition timing I'll get better emissions result?
  3. I just broke my TPS trying to clean it, so the car has less power, and the Check Engine reminds me all the time my fault.
  4. For me the best is the 89 TW too, here in Chile the 89s were sold with carb and with MPFI Turbo. I have one GL with carb , A/C, Dual Range, raised roof, 5 speed, power windows, mirrors, tachometer, height regulation for seat and wheel, among a lot of good things. The Turbo also came with air suspention. I also have a 93 DLX Wagon, the only thing I consider "superior" is it has MPFI, but after 1990 here were no longer available the GLs. DLX has no A/C, no Power windows, no tachometer, no head rest on the back seats, no carpet on the floor but a cheap plastic cover, no speakers on the rear doors, I think that was for forcing people to buy Legacys...
  5. In fact are two belts, and they are very fun to replace. . I didn't replaced them until one broke, nothing happened to the engine. Look on the net for the EA82 service manual, I used it as a guide and it was easy.
  6. I've been fighting with the alternator for 4 years, untill I bought a refurbished one (Hitachi), after atempting to repair the old one dozens of times.
  7. On my 89 GL Wagon I disconected it, because it was leaking brake fluid.
  8. Asuming I wrote EA22 for a reason I can't find Can I edit the title? I started with the wrong foot, sorry :-\ Well, thank you for answer! maybe it would be too much work and it's worthy to give some fresh air to my current engine by replacing all the gaskets and seals. I'm using 10W40 oil and an original oil filter. What do you think? Is it possible to take off the engine at home, put it on my dinner table and open it? I'm not an expert, my job is in the electric area, but I'm confident on my hidden mechanical skills ...and I think it'll be cheaper to buy all the tools I need than paying to an expert (and much more funny, of course) Thanks subiemech85! This is my subie in the Desierto de Atacama
  9. Hi everyone! Fist of all don't expect me to use too well this language, I'm from Chile I've been reading for weeks this forum and you really helped me, about 2 weeks ago my timing belt broken (well, my car's timing belt.. hehehe) and thanks to the posts I've read here and on other forums I was able to fix the problem with my own hands, the problem was not the belt, it was a bearing of a fixed wheel, I think it's a part of the tensioner, but is doesn't move. My car is an 89 GL 4WD Wagon with carb, 5 speed MT and lo range, the engine has never been repared so it leaks oil, a lot of oil. The lash adjusters sound in a strange way: Sometimes no one is making noise, sometimes only one does, sometimes the sing together like a chorus. I think I will replace the oil pump gasket (If i find them here in Santiago, otherwise I will have to buy them in the US using ebay). Today i found a guy here in Chile selling a EJ18 with AT and monopoint injection for app. 600 USD, and it came to me the idea of swap it into my car, but I don't really know if it's possible to do. My idea is to keep my MT gear box and put my carb to the EJ18. What do you think? Is it a good idea, if possible? Thanks to all of you!!
