  1. This was my 73 Coupe. My grandfather bought it new in Simsbury Ct. He gave it to me in 1983 on my 16th birthday. I loved that little car! It unfortunately could not take the abuse I put it thru being young and stupid, and she was retired 2 years later! If anyone knows of a 73 coupe that is for sale, or could be, please drop me a line! Thanks, ray
  2. Get the lift - I did it when I was 16 with one of my 73 coupes; pulled my back- thought I was having a heart attack- couldn't breathe! Worst part was it took weeks to fully recover, the car sat untouched, and I ended up having to get the hoist anyway to put the other engine back in!
  3. Good point - You'll probably never get it started using that gas - it gums everything up even after several monthss of sitting - carb may need to be cleaned as well. Even if it appears ok, change the oil & filter before starting it! Good luck and keep us posted!
  4. Hi Forum Members- As promised, here's another picture of my former ride. I am currently trying to find another 73-79 coupe, but would consider a sedan of the same vintage. Any leads, greatly appreciated! Thanks, Ray Picture 1.pdf
  5. Scanner not working, so I snapped a few pics and posted them in an album under my user name. Will try to get better shots soon! Ray
  6. Hi everyone - It's been a long time since I've posted here. I have a really bad cold, and cancelled my plans to be outdoors in the rain. I was cleaning around the workshop when I came across an envelope with some old Subie pictures, and I'd like to share them with you! About 25 years ago, when I turned 16, I was given my Grandfathers yellow 1973 Subie GL 1400 Coupe. It was my first car! I only had the car for 3 years, but what great fun I had with her! I also later had an orange coupe, and 3 parts cars. Yo could say I was into it! If I can get the scanner to work, I'll post the pictures. Anyway, over the last few years, I've been (casually) searching for a Gen 1 coupe. I think Paul had a friend out in East Hampton that had one.....BTW Paul I'd love to see some new pics of your 73 Coupe! (I have somewhere some 73 badges and the original BODY STRIPES that came with mine, but were never applied to the car. If interested, let's talk!) And I know somewhere on this board there is a fellow enthusiast in Windsor Locks with some wagons, I live in Enfield. If anyone comes across a Gen 1 - any model - even a 4 door that's up for grabs- I'd love to talk! Thanks, Ray - email me at: ozzieandharriet1@cox.net
  7. I'd like intoo, but I have to get my hands on one first!
  8. 1983 - Gift for my 16th Birthday - 1973 GL 1400 Coupe - Yellow, black vinyl top, black stripes. Had 75,000 miles, was cherry. Destroyed in 1986 via head on collision. Between 1983 and 1987 also owned the following: Orange 1973 GL 1400 Coupe, Red 1974 DL Sedan, Yellow 1975 GL Coupe. By 1987 I was working full time, commuting, and bought a new Nissan Sentra. My parents had my stash of Subaru's towed away...........
  9. Hi- My name is Ray. I live in Enfield, work in Windsor Locks. My first car was a 73 Coupe (and several thereafter) were 1973-1974 Subaru's. I used to have it serviced at Midtown Garage on 159, they used to be the area repair shop for Subaru's. Anyway, I am on a quest (and have been for several years) to find another. Paul (Moosens) from the board has been my best lead. He knows of a few around, but is apprehensive to share info! If you know of anything from 73-77 vintage, let me know! Glad to see there are a few of us CT guys around....enjoy your ride, I'm jealous! Good to hear from you! Ray
  10. [That sounds good to me, I'd love to check it out! I would definitely be intersted in the 75 coupe, and since you now have the 73.......let me know when you could set it up for. If you need to, give me a call. Thanks, Ray
  11. Ok guys, time for me to be made fun of again! I live in CT and am looking for a 1973-7 Subaru. Will consider anything, Coupe, Sedan, Wagon. My first car was a yellow 73 Coupe, owned several others over the years, and would like to "get back into it" if you will. I have talked to Moosens several times, he's my best lead to date. Anyone that can help, It'll be greatly appreciated! Thanks again.....Ray
