  1. state junior champion and building national competition cars by the age of 16:banana:
  2. make the hubs, what we did with the 2wd brakes rotors are easy to get here, hence why im not buying rotors in us to cut down on shipping modify the backing plate from the front brakes build brackets and pads well that doesnt even come into the consideration =) i cant put hydraulik i true rally driver doesnt need the handbrake to slide the car =) and as a road car i cant put it in, maybe connect the main handbrake to the rear and have a secondary handbrake that will run on all 4 wheels
  3. park brake on all of my L series is really weak im not too bothered about the rear park brake however on my rally wagon this would be well worth it
  4. i had a good read of the 200sx write up and that could be the way to go if it falls though with ruparts however, another bummer the 1987 200sx are rare here as well grrr
  5. i had a look but couldnt find any reference to it =( can you post up a link? maybe cause some of the photos are down
  6. i this is the first ive heard about the 200sx thing well hoping ruparts is still happy to sell his set that will go on my road/rally car and maybe make a set of 200sx ones up for my S+G car
  7. huh?? i thought that deal got rejected?? ok sorry ruparts will get onto you about this all
  8. i have an 82 DR manual in gawler if your interesed, not sure on the ration but happy to sell with the rear diff if your really interested
  9. ok im in need of some disk brakes for the rear of my L series wagon, leone i think in america basically its the 4 stud variety. ive had a few deals fall through but im not really that bothered, crap happens and we hadent really decided on it. so this thread is to ask for anyone else who has a set of diask brakes for sale and willing to ship, at my expense or to ask for alternative options, anyone know of calipers that are the same?? backing plate the like i can get made up here but proper subaru rear disks here cost a little too much for me
  10. if you wanna rally X cheap it put some second hand rally tires on, in aus i ge them for 25 a set if not free and leave it as that
  11. your probably on it but check subaru forester.org or ozfoz.com both do some nice stuff id suggest keep stock suspension, widening the track, and trimming the guards. if you want maybe uprated springs and shcoks but no lifting blocks
  12. id build it for offroad =) look into impreza for rally x theyre the same car pretty much
  13. the plan has been put on hiatus after long talks with my laywer about sponsorship. basically im not going to put the 50 grand it needs in to build and then hope that all of the sponsors who have said they will fund us basically walk away. The bank account is still open adn if i fall across parts ill collect them, but until somone puts there money where their mouth is this isnt going ahead. sadly my next tour wont be a subaru, but the one after that might =)
  14. id say upwards of 100 kg. but thats just an estimate.
  15. ive worked out i cant go with the stock struts. ill use the stock mounting points with some custom struts i think, as well as the auxillery. thats the first option. im thinking of using the 5EAT in it and putting the electronic diff lock mod, or manuel with EA82 ratios. now i just need to get the money........ got the car sorted and can get the bits but the money for entry is the hard part
  16. theres a WRX STI racing improved production here in australia. all the trick bits Ie rally car with differnt struts adn a 6 speed gearbox, the car is just so light, plastic pannels and the like.
  17. yeah ill look into that idea, it would strengthen it up a lot. i like the idea of running the EJ25, bigger radiator, oil cooler, dry sump if i can be bothered, 4 shockers majorly uprated suspension, building the cage to incorperate the engine adn suspension mounts, tire rack in the rear, custom fuel tank
  18. the plan is to approach this from the 'right' way. i didnt think about caging the engine, but it seems right.
  19. BTW the car is a 99-2000 australian model i belive i am yet to buy it
  20. i have no fear of dieing........ cage is a must, im not making that myself though, going to one of the best in the country. the cars do hit the speed fast but were talking about half an hour to reach speed before putting on the brakes for a corner or check point. i wasnt really comparing jimcos to subarus, but the speed is about the same when hitting 200KH. the rally cars i leanrt to drive in would clock out at 160 and it took about 15 seconds to wind it that high, but still........ suspension is going to be majorly redefined, HD springs, two shockers, one standard one running at 15 degrees from the vertical to the centre line of the car.
  21. NA subaru EJ25 will do the speeds. the average speed for a rally car in australia is about 80KM an hour BUT(!!) this is beacue our rules stipulate this is maximum average speed any road used for rallying is allowed. ive been in events where the've shut the stage down cause somone up fornt average 81km/h. off roading where its simply flatten it and hold on (in a lot of places) is a lot quicker than rally. i have some mates running jimcos, where i got my love of offroad racing, that easily push 200 but the prodution teams leave it at about 180. experience wise i like to keep most of it a secret so not to say that much, i was 3rd place in CAMS rising star at the age of 14 when i was running out at our local offroad track with my brother, and this was the first time CAMS had considered an off road based person a rising star. at that same track i have won events outright in vehicles rather unequiped to do so. my prospective navigaters are all state champion rally drivers and navigators, one being a national place holder in many events back in the day. im pretty aure im qualified
  22. i loved the original page for this car so much stuff i wanted to do. looks good dave
  23. never seen a picture of Australia then?? its a lot like dakar or baja http://www.australiansafari.com.au/website/home.html http://www.finkedesertrace.com.au/ they are the two biggest event i plan to run, not this year though with the safari only 50 something days to build a car. looking at getting up to around 200km/h so i think thats about 160miles?? the car im looking at isnt a turbo i dont think, however i will be allowed to swap it to the turbo motor if i want but im currently unsure.
  24. the winner this year was a mitsubishi V6 pajaro, second was a triton. the power of them isnt that high, maybe a bit more torque. its the speed that the forester can wind out thats going to be where it comes into its own. they have to play by the same rules as me so thats probably as far as they can go approch and departure wont be an issue but i am thinking a slight lift would be advisable, front end there looks very good, better than what i was thinking.
  25. hey guys i guess youd call me a long time stalker short time poster.... im wondering what your proudest diy has been? pics would be nice too, doesnt have to be subaru related but i guess it would help. cmon post your amzing welding pics, your custom aluminium spark plugs, your plastic fuel tank.
