How wide of tires for an 86 Brat?
I should probably clarify...my rubbing issue only occurs rarely when turning the wheel based on how I'm sitting. So under normal driving I don't have issue at all, but sharp turns (parking sometimes) or off-road I will sometimes catch that little lip that runs down the middle section on the back area of the wheel well. Its pretty minimal, but it definately happens. The plastic has frayed a bit Again, hope that helps for the 14" tire sizes anyways

How wide of tires for an 86 Brat?
I was able to fit 195/75/14 BFG's that "barely" rub the back inside of the wheel wheel with the front suspension adjusted all the way up, and just a "light" trim of the front lower fender...I think they measure out to just over 26" in height mounted on the rims. Maybe that will give you an idea of the "max" you might be able to do. If you want to avoid any chance of rubbing, 185/70/14 might be a safer bet imho. Good luck

Already got the time scheduled off of work. Very excited! Will be our 2nd WCSS- The Awesome Older Generation Picture Thread
Bingo on the decals. I requested a "Boss 302" look, and after some discussion this is the result. Earl did awesome. I wanted a unique look, with a little attitude The rims are 14x6 Pugs I masked and painted. The tires I got from Discount Tire are BFG A/T 195/75/14s. NO LIFT, front adjusted all the way up, very light triming towards the front....I do get a very small amount of rub when turning from the fronts on the inside rear plastic lip sometimes, its usually pretty rare, but does happen.- The Awesome Older Generation Picture Thread

Just masking tape, then an exacto knife to trim. Worked great. Thanks for the "Like" lol. The rims were so rough, I was trying to think of cheap ideas to make them better, and painting black is a popular choice these days. I just didnt like the the idea of all black, it takes away the detail. It took one "test rim" and I was 100% commited- What Have You Done to your Soobie lately? Yes, I just masked the "spokes" They are the 14" turbine style Pugs. When I got them, they were very rough. I just took a scotch pad and some fine sandpaper for the rougher spots, cleaned em good, primed with a self etching primer, and the paint I used was Exterior Trim paint by SEH, as its a "hardier" paint. The unpainted one below is in AWESOME shape. I have two like this I bought from a Peugeot guy who bought them from a dealership in the 80s, and used for 1 winter. The 5 I painted were the rough ones...- What Have You Done to your Soobie lately? (Please post in here and keep it going)
Had Brat graphics installed by Pooparu. He did great job on the custom "Boss 302" style look I asked him to do. Painted my Peugeot rims, mounted 195/75/14 BFG A/Ts to them. Still gotta crank up the stock height up to give a little more lift.- Wcss14??????
Sold the SVX to Mark's daughter. Sadly, it met its end a month later when another driver pulled out in front of her She was okay, but the car got totalled, which is sad, since that SVX didn't even have a door ding prior to that moment. Brat's my only Subaru toy left, and since I made a life long pledge to always own a minimum of one subaru at any given time (so I can go to subaru meets, lol) the Brat isnt going anywhere.- Wcss14??????
Wife and I came a couple years ago in our SVX, had a great time. Working on getting the BRAT ready to the level I want it before this years show..like washing it, lol- What Have You Done to your Soobie lately? (Please post in here and keep it going)
Fixed my loose driver's seat that's been wobbly since the day I bought it (3yrs ago). Vaccumed while I was in there...oh, and found a nice unfaded lumbar lever hiden under the carpet, so I replaced the old faded one...score! I also scheduled an appointment to get my custom decals made and installed by Pooparu next week.- Kinda new, just saying hello
Just saying hi. I am acutally a "former" SVX forum member that was very active in NW SVX club, helping cordinate Portland/ Vancouver drives with pretty good success, and participating often on the Seattle drives. My wife Jill always accompanies me on the drives, and loves subarus too, XTs are her favorite. I've owned many subarus a hatch, XT, XT turbo, XT6, 2 SVXs, and currently my only subaru...my 86 Brat. We've been to subifest and WCSS, and love the subaru community. I'm now focused on my Brat that I've owned for several years, and thought it was time to "get involved" My join date is 2009...so it only took a few years to post. I'm also the owner of a 65 Cyclone that I'm currently restoring, but my Brat has recently took a bit of attention, just picking up the rear seats and 2 peugeot 14" rims...so far, need 2 more I'm also hoping to locate someone to help me with doing a nice retro decal setup to it.
