  1. Make sure there is voltage going to the choke. On my '83, a previous owner rewired the rad fans with the power to the choke wire. This left less power for the choke, and it didn't fully open. Mine idled at 1500 rpm until it was completely warmed up.
  2. My old xt6 had a light bar on the front. Sometimes I caught myself driving on the road with the lights on. Believe me, those lights can be insanely bright, especially when you are driving towards them. I dont suggest running the lights on the front, they broke pretty quick on my xt6. It looked pretty neat though. Pic of XT6
  3. I think you would be happy with a ea81 and the mods you listed above. You probably wont get 110 hp, but even if you got 90 or 95, that would be a night and day difference from the old worn out ea71.
  4. So you are trying to get a 45% increase from an ea81? Good luck. Remember, just like any engine, the ea81 is a giant air pump, the more air and fuel you pump, the more power. Bigger cam, porting, higher compression, better carb, Etc.. I still don't know about getting that much out of an ea81. Let me know what you figure out, I want a 110hp ea81.
  5. So starting today, I was driving my '83 GL when all the dash warning lights came on. The voltage gauge warning light is on(and the gauge runs a bit higher then normal, and goes up with engine rpm). The brake fluid light is on(fluid level is fine) and the warning light next to that is on. The E-brake light is dim but is also on, and when I put the ebrake on, it gets brighter. What could cause this strange problem? All the lights did go out together a few times to come back on in a few seconds. I did drive through a small mud puddle, and it has been raining pretty hard so maybe water got somewhere? Its my daily driver, so I want to get this figured out asap. Thanks
  6. Heres my ea81 with the muffler removed. I'll probably put a flowmaster or something on it soon
  7. What do you want for that light bar? I'll come take a look sometime. I really want to start pimpin the ride. Anything I might have you would trade for? Thanks :)

  8. So whats the deal of "unequal headers" to get the subaru boxer rumble? Is it even possible of the older ea's? I would love to make my ea81 sound better(love the subie boxer sound), but not obnoxiously loud.
  9. Yeah, you can pull one off if you want. They are 28-8.5/14 swampers.
  10. Im in tumwater, I can drive over to your place, and you could take a look at my car for ideas on the lift etc. Its 4" lifted, so im sure that could help. Let me know.
  11. I was kind of afraid to drive my car the 1 1/2 hour drive to Seattle. If I go on a longer drive, its not going to be with the swampers again lol.
  12. Great time. Had fun meeting you northern guys. Lets see some pics!
  13. Heres mine i'll get a better pic tomorrow. 1983 GL SJR 4" lift 28" TSL's
  14. I couldn't find a whole lot on this topic, so I'll ask it here. Is there a step by step procedure posted somewhere on how to adjust the valves on a ea81? My valves are pretty noisy. I also want to know what they should be set to, and I also need to know what cylinder is what number, and firing order. I have done many valve adjustments on vw engines, but not subarus. Thanks
  15. Does anyone have an address to the meeting place? I'm not real familiar with Seattle. Thanks.
  16. Im still in . Found a missing bolt int he front end making my GL scary to drive. Hopefully i'll meet a handful of you guys.
  17. My '83 has one, and by looking at it, it probably wouldn't be hard. Its just figuring out brake lines and a cable.
  18. Max told me about this. Need to go rob a few pieces off it.
  19. If i get my car fixed by then, i'll cruise up with ya Kelsey. Anyone else?
