  1. Can you show some more pics? Are you happy with the work done?
  2. I think it's the shop's fault. They should mesure every part upon assembly even if it's a new block....and as oil change interval you're ok.....that's what Subaru recommends for sever service! (6000km or 3700mi)
  3. All I can say I do 80% of driving on city and I'm almost at 87000km and haven't replaced any brake parts. I was told 6 star(oem brake pads) pads are too hard....they have another that cost about 3 times the price ( same as original equipment) ....so tell them to use the best!
  4. We live on same city, so same climate, my 2003 used to take 1l sometimes a little more between changes (6000km) .....I think these engines take a longtime to breakin. I'm now at 86000 km and it only takes about 400 ml so as mielage climbed oil consumption was significantly reduced....I know you only have 20000km but I would try 10w30 and you still have plenty time to see how things change. Don't forget even past 100000km you can claim a engine repair in Qc that's the law here
  5. I think you love your wagon, and if you take care...it will last 10 years aand you get to know your car. Show some pics after the job is done!
  6. I don't understand, about your rpm difference, had you a slipping clutch?
  7. I just changed from 205/55/16 to 205/60/16...enough of a change to notice the cornering, but i gain in confort! So before you do any changes think about the tradeoff
  8. When I went the first time with the noise, they haven't told me what was the problem! They said:"The motor is broke! We will change it!" When I went to get it back I ask again what was wrong and they said, again, the motor! I aks them if there was a break in procedure since it's a new engine and they was telling me no! Wow, they know there stuff! Anyway, I had wait at least 1000 km before stepping on the gas. I had put maybe 2000 km since they change my engine! I will try to go easy for a while! Hope no serious harm was made. But now I have another problem. I don't know if I should tell you guys, you'll laught at me. I HAVE PUT TO MUCH OIL!!! At least I know how to fix this! A little amount of oil over, is nothing to worry about. better that then low! I drove my sub quite easy for the first 15000km believe me that engine was thight. even your gas mileage changes afterwords. It's not easy to follow this but the results afterwords are; A very quiet engine, and no oil consumption and then you can enjoy trashing gears at red line! forget the last line. good luck!
  9. For the oil problem, I do push it a little! I don't get very high speed, but as acceleration goes, almost in the red for each gear. Not ALL the time off course, but every time I got the chance! So it might explain the oil burning that fast! Well, I got to say thank you all for your help, it did help! It's a new engine! Don't go over 4000rpm at least until you reach 10 to 15,000km. enjoy your sub
  10. "But, would a valve adjustment also quiet some of that"? if the noise comes from the valves, yes! don't tight them to much, in many engines they will get tight and sometimes they don't close properly and that is trouble you end up with burndt valves
  11. Sorry! please pinging is a thing of the past! I'm not saying you don't have a problem....insist and tell them to fix it....it's not normal. by the way check your gas mileage. good luck
  12. my best, only city driving lots of short trips and including warm ups is about 12l/100km it's the same as 19mpg. Do you think I could improve my mileage?
  13. D'ont worry it's normal a slight change in tension!
  14. I have done the same and I love it, and it looks good !
  15. warm her up 2 min. before taking off .........and your engine will last a long time
  16. and i wanted to ask you.... is it the SOHC or the Twincam motors thad have this problom with the heat gaskets ?[/ QUOTE] Twincam engines are prone to HG failure oskar
  17. Is the 2003 2.5l engine basically the same as you describe above?
  18. Thanks for all replies. I haven't done nothing yet because the grease stains are located on a highly visible place, just below the head rest on the passenger seat. I have to be very careful on which procedure to use. I will use some of your suggestions but I will stay away from hard solvents. I'll keep you posted on the results.
  19. I need help. the title says it all . A stupid accident happen and I have grease from those door garages rails on one of my seats. So if you know of any product that will bring my seat like before!? thanks for any suggestions
