  1. I put a 96 manual 2.2(no egr) into a 97 obw that had a 2.5 with EGR and it runs mint except for the EGR code.
  2. I'm hoping I can find someone who has a 1997 or newer legacy with a 2.2L in it and a 5 speed manual. It must be a manual transmission, and if you have one I need you to find out if these cars came with EGR valves or not. I know most 96 2.2 5 speeds didn't have EGR but what about in 97?
  3. Anyone around here have a 1997 Legacy with a 2.2L and a 5 speed in it? I'm pretty sure the 97 2.2 5 speeds didnt have EGR and that would be the ECU I need. I need to find out if any 97 2.2's had no egr
  4. Thats cause its a 2000, I think they did out with all them completely after like 99. not sure though
  5. that could be... 2.5 is likely to produce much more emissions.
  6. Do ALL 5 speed outbacks, up to 99 atleast, have NO EGR? And basically the reason being because in a MT car you'd have no optimal time to introduce exhaust gasses.
  7. The ECU I need can be either auto or 5 speed, it would be actually any EJ motor after 96 with NO EGR would work for me. And I think all non EGRs were standards. I guess teh one I need isn't that extreme, but I don't see to many motors 2.5 or 2.2 after 96 that are non EGR
  8. I took the a constant 12v power wire, and hooked it up to the wire that what labeled ignition in my wiring diagram. It's a yellow wire, and I know when its not hooked up the ECU does not power up. I'm like 99% sure I got the right wire for the harness I'll double check with my voltmeter to see if the wire I used is a constant 12v.
  9. So it seems like the trend is most all subarus that were 5 speeds had no EGR valve, and all the ones that had auto trans did have EGR. Does anybody know why this is? Is having an EGR valve on a manual transmission car not work out as well or something or did they just not need them on those?
  10. Crappppp, I just found out the monitors still clear if the ECU is powered all the time, it must be killing power to whereever stores those monitors...
  11. So, I've done my ECU wiring, and I can keep it so the ECU never turns off. THe big question is going to be when I go to emissions and see what they say after hooking it up to the computer and try turning it off. Hopefully it still sees it as shut off and I'll pass no problem
  12. damn you mus tbe going a while with no oil change if that has to time to get that rusty.
  13. I don't get why subaru leaves out options like a tach on brigton models, if everything wired, it cant add much to the overall cost of building a car. They just must leave those things out so your more likely to be annoyed by not having simple little things like a tach and you'll just buy the loaded model.
  14. I wonder if theres anyway to tell, besides just going and seeing what they say happens.
  15. cause wed rather have cops driving aorund crown vics with chains on the back, haha i love seein them cruisin around with chains
  16. So if I wire the ECU so its constantly on, do you think the emissions place would be able to tell its still on.
  17. if its the same as my 96 OBW, which i think it is its under the floor right under the dash on the passenger side. You gotta pull the carpet back a little.
  18. So now I have another question. I see that in 97 they made a change to the 2.2 intake manifolds. This is taken from wikipedia "Other Engine Modifications (2.2L 1997) The intake manifold has been reshaped to increase the airflow mass and speed, contributing to improved low and mid engine speed operation. Components located on the intake manifold have been relocated as compared to the 1996 models. EGR Solenoid, Purge Control Solenoid, etc." So apparently they changed the intakes in 97 and changed the locations of some stuff and the overall shape, but I'm assuming these should fit also?
  19. Figured, they're probably prettty rare as tehy didnt put them in many cars I guess either so these 2.2s are rare after 96 it seems like anyways. So I guess anything from 95 to 98 would fit.
  20. Basically how it works is, they take the car and drive it into there bay and hook it up to the computer running, and start the test. The test then makes them shut the motor off or they cant continue so they shut it off and turn it back on. I believe just to make sure the CEL light functions? So it all has to work like normal. And moneypit, the reason the loyale passed is cause its OBD1, they only put a sniffer int he tail pipe on OBD1's, and it can throw as many codes as it wants. YOur 97 of course will not pass or even come close with any CEL on, for anything.
  21. hmm doesnt really seem like they will, and it seems like phase 2 EJ22's are VERY uncommon(i think they only made them one year for a little while)
  22. Im trying to get a new intake manifold for my phase one 2.2L, I need one with EGR valve on it. I'm wondering what years would fit cause I know they changed the heads when the phase 2's came, but would this intake fit on a phase 1 engine?
  23. What year was that loyale? I'm pretty sure they're pre OBD2 and thats why it would pass with the CEL on. And did you change the computer on that 97? Cause I'd assume if you still had teh 97 computer in the car then you'll get a code having no EGR...
