So tomorrow I'm going to look at a 1981 Brat. I was wondering what are some possible signs of trouble to look for in older ea81's (this one has over 200K miles). The asking price is only 900 dollars, so I don't expect it to be perfect in any way, I just don't want to buy another basket case subie.

hey, i ran across the vid below on youtube, was wondering if anyone had ever owned one of these before, and how they stand up to an 80's subie wagon.

im thinking about going to iceland after a few years of college...do the rental car companies rent out 4x4's? or even better can i just rent your friends lifted sedan?

i think im going to start out with a general tune up...spark plugs, distributor cap, timing, air filter, ect....and replace the O2 sensor, the PO said that it acts up from time to time. And the throttle actually is sticking open a bit when the engine is cold, im going to lube it up and see if that fixes anything....oh, and the check engine light no longer comes on. not really sure why.

when i start up my xt6 on cold mornings, it seems like the gas pedal is stuck or somthing. it idles between 1800 and 2200 rpms, and when i put it in reverse, and as soon as i let out the clutch even a little bit it goes backwards quite quickly. if i put it in 1'st gear, i can drive around a parking lot at roughly 7 mph without touching the gas. this problem lasts for about 5 minutes of driving, then it stops, idle goes back down to normal, and the check engine light immediately comes on. im completely stumped, any ideas?

hey, i longboard at that parking garage! oh i was wondering, how did you deal with emissions with that motor swap? did you just get a waiver or what?

was that the only leak point when you gave the car to t-roy? i still cant find any other leaks besides that spot, but it seems like that doesn't explain all the fluid that is disappearing from the system.

if you are parting an xt, i am looking for the trim pieces that go around the doors. and im also looking for the factory rear wing. i am located in the Seattle area but will pay for shipping if what you have is nice enough. and if you know of any XT's in a puget-sound area junkyard, i would be very interested to hear about them. thanks for reading =) oh, and i don't want to buy a whole parts car (although somone offered me a pretty good deal on one last week)

************...what a bum....yeah he wasn't quite truthful about a few things on that car, but still. the xt6 is alot better of a daily driver then my old wagon, and thats all i was really looking for right now.

in my 91 loyale wagon i just put the cups in the center console...but since i got my xt6 i haven't found a good place for it yet. any suggestions?

its leaking from several places....ill post pictures when the sun comes back up. at least my cybrid fluid is finally here!

its my xt6 now! seems to be a pretty reliable car, only problem is the incredibly leaky power steering unit.

well the PO used ATF in it...and it is leaking pretty badly already. i suppose i might as well just bite the bullet and rebuild it...also i was wondering if anyone has ever swapped power steering from an EA series into an XT6 for reliability's sake?

is it normal for the Cybrid power steering system make a high pitched whining sound? and since it was leaking, i put in some lucas stop-leak power steering fluid...then was told by a tech at smart subaru that doing that had probably destroyed the whole system...is that true?

hey, i just traded my lifted wagon for a 1988 subaru xt6. everything seems to be in pretty solid condition, it just needs new paint and some trip pieces. also, im worried about emissions. it doesn't have a cat, and it needs to be tested before the title gets transferred. if anyone is parting out an xt, i would really like to talk to you.

well the reason im asking is because the wiring is completely hectic....and the car is starting to sag on the front passenger side and i would like to know what the make of the lift kit is so i can replace it. and im not sure about the wheels, i cant find any kind of writing or serial number on them that indicates a particular manufacturer.

hey all, i bought this 1986 gl from pyro926 last november, and i was trying to get some information on where it came from, and who originally lifted it. i know that it had USMB stickers on it before pyro bought it, and i know it has alot of accessories from allied, like the bumper and possibly the lift? the VIN is JF2AN53B1GE483433. i have seen pics of it all over the net, on youtube and even on a VW forum (http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=4613071&page=3). i would really like to know the history of my car, if anyone knows anything about it PLEASE let me know.

hey, i have a 1986 subaru gl with the D/R 5 speed tranny. whenever i accelerate fairly hard, the 4wd indicator lights up on my dashboard. is this a transmission problem? or is it just some kind of faulty fuse?
