  1. Yeah, yeah, lugging or winding out. I can never figure what gear I am happiest in go through town. Notice the Mack note above? Syncro's are optional for me. Good info to know.
  2. Body is near perfect. Little dent in the plastic on one of the bumpers.
  3. I need someone to take a peek at a car for me.
  4. Its a 4 spd. I've yet to see the hype with a 5 spd. I have a 4 and a 5 and the final ratio is the same. I was thinking the 5 was an OD. So, the gears are a little bit wider, thats ok, I drove a Mack forever.
  5. [pondering] http://montana.craigslist.org/cto/860387643.html
  6. Would this is an EA81?? 4 spd?
  7. You could always have a vacuum hose off the carb or intake and put a valve on it and lean it out manually, if need be. I'd do the 5 spd carb. Better yet, if you like to tinker, put a dial-a-jet on it.
  8. Super! I'll put the coffee on for you.
  9. I have ea82 seats but dont really have to patience to make them fit. It doesnt seem like the easiest job, especially since I have no welder all of a sudden.
  10. Are there any seats that are bolt in?
  11. Looks like a dirty shift console to me.
  12. Check that the throttle cable isnt adjusted too tight...at the carb.
  13. Wow, wish we had a scrap place within a couple hundred miles. Just going to crush the car I guess. Interesting though............
  14. Think they should have a 3rd, just incase?? I wonder if anyone would like them? Just going to the scrap pile.
  15. Problem is the other end of the pipe. The part that connects on the bottom fitting [not the valve end, the head end]. Its leaking there [i think]. Tried tightening, no budge. Was thinking I could get it off somehow and plug it. Speaking of exhaust......where the Y pipe joins to one pipe, there is a big section [can] at the joint. Whats in there?? Looks like it could be a muffling device, but dont think it is.
  16. Seeing this is not operational, can I remove this pipe and plug it or weld it shut? Best way to plug it would be.............?
  17. '87 Brat, what should it be? After a few miles, would it be wise to re-torque? [ugh, forget it I posted then searched. :/ ]
  18. Finally got to it. That was it to a tee, very simple to do. I cant imagine doing it where rust is involved though!
  19. Kerosene? I know how to do it with twine. Enlighten me.
  20. 287 miles today, all through the mountains. 255K miles on a '86 GL wagon, 4wd, 5 spd, carbed [sorry GD]. 107 degrees out with 3% humidity. I drove it like it was 107 too. 65mph was pretty much max. That would be max on these roads on a cool day as well though. 30MPG!!!!
  21. Who cares what it looks like, dings, paint color, etc. Make it into a good runner. Putting money into it other than mechanically would be like pouring it down the drain. Family car for us looks like a paint by number car.
  22. Always carry a spare ignition set. Its a mere $20. Fix it with a Leatherman.
  23. No, it was a 2000 Powerstroke. Wife drives a '72 F100 with points, 1 vacuum hose and a carb...flawless!
  24. I had problems with a 'cam positioning sensor' on time. It left me, my wife and out 2 month old stranded at the top of a remote mountain pass, with no way out. That was my last doings with a computered rig...especially one I paid $37K for. It just not worth it to me. I have never had a carb fail me, to the point I cant get it home. I've beat this bush before, but thats my story. Plus, I dont mind 'pumping' the gas pedal once to start my car.
