How do i add pics to a tread?
The point being, on any forum, you should be able to link to an external image, plain and simple. No need to attach a file, just use the image syntax and link it out.

'86 GL headlights
Drilled holes in them, stuck them in the oven, pryed them apart and found was needs replacing. Cleaned them all up, shined them, put them back on. Nothing but Napa for 120 miles so they suggested Super Whites. Talked to a few people about them and decided to go for it. Had to drive home in the dark last night, pretty nice lighting. Way better than what I had in there. Now to find a drivers side housing, and I'llb e good to go.

'86 GL headlights
I got them out, put some dry dish soap in them and cleaned them. Lots of condensation in them. How about drilling a small hole on the back side, to allow for condensation to evaporate? Kinda like we used to do in point distributors.

Explain how you did it. The link to the other forum is a dead link.

'86 GL headlights
Wow, thanks for the input. Sorry to say though, I am almost positive it is the glass. We live on gravel roads, mud, dust, which is the cause of it. I will though, take them out and have a close look. I really dont think it is the wiring. It also is the alignment, which I need to take a look at.

'86 GL headlights
Why did they make them so you cant take the glass off, what were they thinking???

'86 GL headlights
Eek gads man, I cant drive over 45 at night! Are the Sylvania 9004XV plug and go lights? No modifications needed? I dont suppose there is a way to clean the inside of the glass without taking the whole car apart? Think this is the way to go??

Anyone got a hitachi core they can spare?
I want to take a shot at rebuilding one...just not the one the runs my car. '86 GL10. The older the carb, the better...less to deal with. I'll pay shipping!

Lights won't turn off-HELP!
I dont think you should feel stupid for not knowing about the light switch. Using "stupider" should be a good reason to make you feel stupid though. LOL!

If I was to take an ea82 and put it on stationary mount.....
All interesting points, thanks. I am still going to use a carb model, preferably and older one. It will have no sensors, etc. It will have 4 spark plug wires, and a couple wires going to the alternator, starter and dist...that is all. Sorry, but I am hard and fast on that one.

This probably wouldnt be something that ran a lot. Its would be one of those things like "I have and you dont"...lol! In the ranching industry its always good to have a stationary engine around. A bolt on generator would be doable. I dont have a head at this time for it. Those are easy to come by though. This military 4 cyl I have here is a real screamer. You could hear it from there too! Too bad you couldnt leave the transmision on and hook the head to it. Being FWD that would be a nightmare though. What would be a better engine to use, and 81 or 82? I would most certainly pull all the sensors, not that there are many left. There is no reason why and engine wont run with just a carb and distributor. Mind you all, just brainstorming here......

Good info! As far as the engine, I am not sure which would be a better one, the 81 or 82. I dont know that much about them to comment. As far as fuel delivery, I wouldnt own an injected engine. I want carb'd, and would still like to find out about the ignition system. I am the 'old school' type. I like things basic, and fixable with either a hammer, screwdriver, or crescent wrench.
