  1. I told her to check all the fluids while she was at it. She couldnt find the tranny dipstick so she stopped at a Jiffy Lube...UGH! They said her tranny fluid had metal particles in it and it needed flushing...surprise, surprise. I told her it had been done 6 months ago, and at that time is was very clean but did it anyways. I told her to flee from there and find a soobie dealer in Seattle to check her fluid. Waiting to hear back from her now.
  2. I will have her check the floor mat. I do know now that works. As far as anything else....I snuck over here from the 'old school' area of the forum. You know, points, condenser, cap. Everything else is Greek.
  3. Kinda a quandary here. My daughter drove from MT to NW Seattle, WA where she will be for a month. She tells me now that when her car is warm and she pulls up to a light. She has to put the car in neutral bacause the idle is high enough that it wants to pull her. What does one tell an 18 yr old female to look for? Wha can I suggest to her? 1997 Legacy 2.2, auto
  4. Cool...maybe I ought to change the filter. Thanks!
  5. Ok, be real specific on where it is. How would I find it?
  6. '86 GL Wagon 238,461 28 mpg on a 250 mile trip, including mountain passes.
  7. NAPA have been very good to me. My $2000 Mac burnt up this morning, want to trade issues?
  8. We got about 5" last night here. So....how do I pay you? Cash, check, paypal, S&H Green Stamps, a fatted calf, frankensense and myrrh, my firstborn, one of my appendeges??
  9. Great...works for me. Hopefully we can at least get it to Spokane.
  10. Greetings from NW Montana! I am trying to get a door for my car that is in western Washington. I need it brought to Spokane, CD'A, Sandpoint or NW Montana. Anyone making a trip anytime soon?
  11. The thing runs great, just didnt know if I should pull the EGR and put a plate on it, or just leave it plugged.
  12. I did a 'vacuumhosectomy' on my GL wagon. The EGR nipple is plugged solid. I left the hose off of it an have just been driving it. Should I remove the valve and clean it or can I just leave it be? Is it affecting performance at all?
  13. Any recommendations in a reasonably priced oil to use?
  14. That would be a dual range 4wd. Is the drain and fill plug pretty evident??
  15. The oil in the 5spd is way too thick for running in cold weather, so, synthetic in order. Whats it like to change...straight forward? Or do I need a $75 special tool? ) What is the capacity of the tranny? Thanks!
  16. That certainly spells it out quite well for me....thanks for the detail!
  17. I use NGK in everything I own, from car, truck, snowmobiles, 4 wheelers, chain saws. I must admit, there is more room under the hood of this '97 than there was in the '86....until last week
  18. Great! I am in Montana so there will be no issues about having bolt troubles. Next time in town I will get plugs and have a go at it. Cant tell you how long I was looking for the distributor cap. )
  19. My apologies, yes, it is a Legacy. Good to hear someone survived changing plugs on one of these. Amazes me why they make things like this, where you have to dis-assemble the vehicle to pull plugs. Thanks for the tips!
  20. It looks to me like spark plugs go on the end of the 4 wires that come from the coil. I think I must be wrong though....a human couldn't fit their hand where the plugs should go. :-\ Tell me, must I remove the fenders, tires to change the plugs? I cant believe what this looks like. Tell me there has to be an easy way to do this. It dertainly doesnt look as easy as my '63 pickup.
  21. Sounds like my problem, but mine still locks. I got the same code as you. The dealer took my money too....must have been the same dealer...lol! Curious to see what you do to resolve it.
  22. Not sure....I have had it for 30,000 miles and it is just getting 155,000 on it now. I bet it was changed 50,000 ago.
  23. The chattering thing is of years gone by, that is not an issue. I added it just incase its information would be helpful. When the converter locks and unlocks is when the light will come on. I forgot it wasnt overdrive. Sometimes the shift will feel funny, sometimes it wont. I was thinking I would change the tranny fluid anyways. Just plain ol' Dextron of is there something else I might be able to add...additive or something?
