  1. Hi, I just want to bump this up again , Any Ideas to fix it ??? Thanks !
  2. Hi , I have a problem transmission that I need help to diagnose, here is the scoop. Has clean fluid and screen, I tested all the sols and sensors inside and they had the proper ohms. I tried a known good computer. Here are the symptoms: Put it in D it starts off in 2nd gear and will shift to 3rd, no 4th gear Put it in 3 it starts off in 2nd gear and will shift to 3rd. Put it in 2 it "locks up" and will move forward slightly with much throttle. Put it in r it will back up fine. Basically no 1st gear and no 4th gear. Any Help on this , THANKS!
  3. Well ,yes the fluid is fresh and no the diff and trans are not on a transfusion program, the speedometer does work , and the filter screen is not restricting fluid flow. I did have one other bit of info, the shifter cable was damaged from a front ujoint failure and it may have jerked the inhibitor switch that is mounted to the shift lever on the trans, (I did reset it )but if the switch was damaged and gave the trans computer bad information can this part cause these symptoms ? I'm hoping that a knowlegable trans guy will see this and help out. Thanks again !
  4. I got this 88 xt6 full time 4x4 with auto trans, it just doesn't shift . here is what I know : Tested all the solinoids inside and they all had the proper OHMS. Tried another (known good ) computer. Road test, in D it starts off in 2nd, will shift to 3rd, and that is all it will do . It will do the same thing with shifter in 3 If you put the shifter in 2, the whole thing sort of locks and will not go at all 1st hold button seems to have no effect It will back up in reverse. If any of you are transmission wise please help me out to diagnose this , its a EAT 4 spd. with full time AWD Thanks !
  5. Hi all, I'm selling this eng 111k(see the marketplace post) .Thanks
  6. It might be the selonoid is stuck open or the wire connector to the skock not making contact , otherwise its like turbone said .
  7. Hi, I have had sounds like that and found the big nut on the axle a bit loose (even after a recent service) sometimes they don't seat in , also the taper washer can develope an edge that causes them to not seat in 100 percent . Moose]well, it almost sounds like a wheel bearing, but has a vibration i can feel in the floorboard and steering wheel.. only does it when the car is rolling, its not dependant on acceleration or deceleration at all.. the faster the car is rolling the louder and faster the vibration is.. the slower the car is rolling, the slower the sound and vibration are.. also when your rolling down the road, if you turn the wheel to the left the vibration and sound stop all together.. when your rollin straight or to the right its there and doesn't change.. i've already changed the drivers side CV axle (was shot anyways) and also the drivers side front hub with a known good bearing.. made no difference at all.. any ideas before it goes to the shop?
  8. Hi, I think you may need to put new seals in the oil pump, it has fixed several clicking engines for me . be sure to inspect the pump for wear marks also.
  9. maybe a shop towel left in the intake or air passage tube and forgot to remove ???
  10. Pop out the fender liner gromet, pull the wires through the hole carefully , there is a connector in there about a foot from the strut.
  11. Hi, My2 cents worth, I have had a couple of times seen stuck valves which in turn let the rocker drop out of place (ea82) and then NO COMPRESSION-- engine was running and idling fine the night before . Second , the little transistor thingy made onto the coil bracket from about 87 on gave me a time of it , had power to coil and dist but would not fire the plugs -- (did not make and break the power to fire the plugs) from what you have said I think it could be either . (check the compression on ALL )- if good try the coil bracket thing. LOL
  12. Hi, I've seen several xt's that the switch is not working right . They will switch but not hold the position , there is a ratchet mechinism in there that goes out ,Could be the problem . LOL on it , Post what you find out , all xt info is needed nowdays .
  13. Hi, I have found a small restrictor oriface in the cam case that may be the source of all your clicking. The oil to the lifter galley is fed out through the head , back in through the cam case to the lifter galley in the head . If you take the cam case off , pull the cam out , and clean the passage with the restrictor , it has been the cure for me. The debris can collect in a small pocket in the oil passage there and is really diifficult to see even with the thing apart , look close . The cam has to be out of the case to clear this part of the passage!!! LOL and post back if it is your cure .
  14. Hi, I have a 83 FWD trans that was working when it was removed, 50+ shipping , it is in Tx. though. Food for thought, LOL .
  15. Hi Guys, I need to ask if the intake manifold has vacuum (as on a N/A engine )at lower speed , I know it is pressurized when you are on it, but where is the vacuum for options and stuff . Mainly interested in the selective 4wd on my 86 xt turbo , I see the vac source tube on the manifold to the selonoids and to the selector diaphram, but how can it operate if the manifold is full of pressure instead of a vacuum ? Is there something else to it ? Is there vacuum at lower RPM ?? Thanks for any help
