thanks! I might get me one of those... I was also thinking of moving the deck to the glove box. I don't really use the glove box and I think having the deck locked in there would just make it that much harder to steal... -

Great idea! I'm going to up-grade as soon I've got a couple extra dollars. And yeah, every time I put it in first gear it bumps the stereo and changes the input! -
I Just put in a pushbutton and figured I would share how I did it! Its a fun way to replace a non-functioning key switch and you kind of feel like your firing up the millennium falcon when you start your soober! If you look at the diagram I have drawn up you'll see that I used 3 toggles and a momentary button all rated to handle at least 20amps. I cut the wires off of the existing switch, stripped them all back and crimped ring terminals to each wire. two of the switches and the momentary button were then mounted onto the switch board. I used the side panel off of an old computer tower to make my switch board and hooked it all up as follows... (B=hot lead. A=accessory. IG=run. S=starter. R=some resistor thingy?) I used 10ga primary wire for any new wiring that I put in and ring terminals to connect it all together. I used and old strike plate from the kitchen door that I bent and drilled to mount my hidden switch. And... Presto! I feel that it's important to note that I did not install the stereo. its on my list of things to fix... Hope this helps someone:)

I see, looks like drilling some 6 lugs will be the best option for me anyway! -
So Ive been browsing the innerwebs for rims and tires and i ran across these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390108970602&crlp=1_263602_263622&ff4=263602_263622&viewitem=&guid=96e805c912a0a04371a17ed1fff0ba99&rvr_id=134660440135&ua=M*F%3F&itemid=39010897060210 inch atv wheels with a 4x140 bolt pattern and you can get some pretty big super swampers that will fit them... has anyone ever tried this? or is it a retarded idea? would they just buckle under the weight of a car?

83 GLWagon 4x4. Valves need adjusting. Oil leak (valve cover maybe). Exhaust leak. U-joint/s are sloppy. Drivers side blinker lens and headlight bezel need to be replaced Passenger side door handle broke Ignition switch is dead (Hotwire to start) When heat or A/C is on Idle jumps up to 15 Hill holder is dead Mismatched tires Needs lift kit/big tires/tube bumpers/bullbar/winch/safari rack/fog lights Stereo is funky and there's a funny smell in it... -

EA81 Top Speed!!! valve adjustment?
Seantheimpaler replied to Seantheimpaler's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
just did a tune up, adjusted timing, fuel filters are newerish and im pretty sure its got an exhaust leak. it is a 4speed tho... were you rockin' a 5speed? -
So ive got a 83gl wagon and ive gotten it up to 83mph on a level straight away, i think if i get a wind behind me downhill i could get it up to 88mph and do a little time travel... is this a typical top speed for a stock ea81? ...also it sounds like the valves need adjusting. do you have to pull the motor to adjust them, or can it be done in the car?
