  1. My 85 EA82 with A/C must be weird because the one on the thermo housing has two as does the connector.
  2. I have run my EA82 with no EGR and with the PCV plugged and have not noticed any difference in the way it performs or fuel mileage. I do not suggest plugging the PCV and your car may differ then mine.
  3. Thats great! Glad to see you Got r done.
  4. As long as the jb weld is hard yes.
  5. Just make sure when you cut the zip tie that the fishing string is on the square part of the zip tie then cut the tie. I didn't do that step at first and got one stuck in the spring and it took 15 minutes to get it out with a screwdriver and needle nose pliers . Also Dontn tighten the cam tower bolts all the way at first just enough to hold the lifters on when you cut the tie. This allows you to pull the tie out easyer .
  6. Thanks Miles. Quick question. I had all the HLAs and lifters in a box in the order they belonged in the head but my dog hit the box and spilled it. Is it going to matter much if they are not in the order they came off?
  7. Yeah I know the grease trick but this makes sure they don't fall off.
  8. This is my solution to hold the lifters on to install the the cam tower so they don't fall off. To make it easier to pull the zip ties out after i cut them i tie a piece of fishing string to the zip ties.
  9. Did the car run before you took the pump off?
  10. There is a coolant passage under the carb. Your going to want to get some JB weld mixed up to plug it up. I take a piece of screen and jb weld over it. Make sure you smooth it out well.
  11. You will lose some fuel so have an old rag to catch it.
  12. Some people just leave it on and unplug the vacuum line to it. You can also fab a tin plate to fit over the hole where the egr valve bolts on. Take the valve off trace the bottom of egr onto the tin, drill the wholes out then put a gasket under the tin and bolt it to the intake. I just leave my egr valve on.
  13. Contact theses guys they will know. http://www.redlineweber.com/ or search this board.
  14. What do you use to remove the cam seal so you don't mark up the housing?
  15. IMO Sachs makes a good economical kit that will have all your parts in it. Yes you need a torque wrench (though I personally never used one for the clutch). IMO pulling the engine is the easy way to do it. If you don't have an engine lift three 12 foot long 4 inch around wood polls or trees set up as a tripod works well with a cheapo ratcheting come-along will do. I have also used three 12 foot long 4x4s as a tripod. If you use a tripod make sure you have a way of keeping them from sliding if on pavement. I took three big nails cut the heads off then pounded them into the bottom center of the tripod legs letting them stick out about an inch. If in dirt just dig a small hole to set the each leg in. Or you could rent an engine lift for the day.
  16. Cant help with the spacer but the idle may be a loose, broke, cracked or disconnected vacuum line.
  17. It might not be the pump. Run the jumper wire as i stated before and see if it runs. If it does you have either a wiring problem or a relay problem.
  18. Open the air filter box and spray it up the intake hose that goes to the intake. Just a little will let you know if its going to fire or not. Give it about a 3 to 5 second burst.
  19. Try running a jumper wire from the positive battery terminal to the fuel pump to see if it starts or if the pump runs. Try the starter fluid or pour a little gas down the intake to see if it starts then.
  20. Doing what most people do to an EA82 at least once in its life. FREAKING HEAD GASKETS!!!!!!
  21. Junkyard or another member of this board.
  22. OEM gaskets only for intake. The cheap ones don't hold up.
  23. The real Gurus will probably be of better help but I have never heard of an adapter to go from the one barrel to the weber two barrel. You could probably have one made if you know someone who can fabricate stuff like that. Probably Cheaper to get an intake from a Hitachi carbed car.
  24. I have an 85 2wd non turbo black wagon. Does yours have the red pinstripe down the sides?
