Thanks Guys, i drove over to Granny's, and took her to Church in the BRAT this morning. I like taking Clod to Church (Clod's the BRAT by the way), because if anyone could use some prayers, and Spiritual healing, it would be CLOD. After Church I took her Forester to the truck stop at the next town over to try the 15 amp fuse thing, but ended up not doing it because it's not doing the Grumble, Rumble, Roar any More. I would say that you probably hit the nail right on the head with the Duty C solenoid, and it's just doing it now and again. Think that maybe Granny hasn't been driving it enough this winter. May go for the flush anyway, or should we wait awhile to see if it acts up again? Also is the solenoid accessible, or is it down in the tranny?

Drove little Bailey's Grandma to Sam's club for some supplies in her 2005 Forester, almost 40k on the odo. Went to turn a tight circle in the parking lot and noticed it has a vibration, and a rumble sound. Granny has never noticed it before, but Granny lives out in the sticks and the Forester doesn't have many opportunities to turn tight on a hard surface. Does it in either direction, nothing rubbing, sounds and feels like something deep in the drive train. Oh my, Oh me, What could it be? She made an appointment for the 11th. Who can guess what it will be?

Going with the saggy butt spacers to try and level the car, always looks like the back is a wee bit lower than the nose on a flat surface. I hear ya on the difference by brand. The reason I have the 205/75/15s on it now is that I went to replace the tires on my VW Doublecab truck, same size but different maker and the new ones wouldn't fit up under the fender skirts. The new truck tires ended up being Subaru sedan tires. Will post before and after pics IF I ever get the new struts I'm waiting on. Thanks for the input.

I have a Subtle 1" lift, plus the quarter inch saggy butt spacers on the way for a 99 SUS (aka Outback sedan), and was wondering what size tires everyone has been running without problems of rubbing or bottoming out. I've been running 205/75/15's for about a year with bone stock suspension with no problems and wondering how much taller I could get away with after the lift install. Any advice would be great. Thanks

Are all jump seats created equal?

I've got the original headrests in super condition hanging on the wall in my garage just waiting for some seats to make them feel useful. -

Thanks for the information, I've found a guy that has a pair out of a 1980 about 4 hours from here. Good to know they will fit before making the 8 hour round trip to pick them up. The hard part will be training my old Lab Jimi to sit in them. Thanks again. -
I know this is a stupid question, but were all the BRAT jump seats the same through the years? Clod is a generation 2 1985, and I was wondering if the older generation 1 seats would fit my pedestal the same.

Whats broke on your subaru lately.
DUBSnSUBS replied to The Dude Abides's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
My 99 SUS started peeing oil onto the drive alot after the cold weather came. Seems to leak more while sitting than working. Imagine it's the rear seal. Boo Hoo. -
Oil leak fix in a can...
DUBSnSUBS replied to MR_Loyale's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The aroma of burnt oil is what lets me know whether I'm driving the old BRAT or the old Beetle. Subaru was eco friendly by placing most of the exhaust under the engine. This allows every single drop of oil to be burnt, drawn into the cabin area, sucked through your lungs so that it can be safely exhaled into the enviroment. Whereas Volkswagen was highway department friendly. VW had more of the exhaust off to the sides of the engine to help re-surface the roadway, this allows my brother at MODOT to have Columbus day, and about 64 other days a year off with pay. As far as cans go, the only thing I've ever found that really works is a can full of seals and gaskets. Hope for the Best. -
EA82 Weber Adapter and Coolant
DUBSnSUBS replied to b88185's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The Redline adapter kit for my e81 was awful, nothing fit, the gaskets were not anywhere close to the right size. The coolant went right down the intake and out on the driveway. I went to the part store and got a teeny tiny steel plug and tapped into the hole on the manifold to seal off the coolant, and got some material to cut my own gaskets since they do not have any with the kit that fit. It's after you shell out the big money for the kit that they tell you nothing really fits. Once you get it all together you should enjoy it more. Good Luck. -
13's are almost extinct anymore unless you are willing to run tires off a lawn mower trailer. I got lucky and found a set of four at an old tire dealer in Nebraska, they were twelve years old, but never seen the light of day. I had a lady drive 200 miles to get the ones I took off for free because she could'nt find any. Best of Luck.

Just ran the third tank of petrol through my new weber on Clod Brown the 85 Brat. All three tanks figured between 27-28 mpg. I'm pleased since it's cold here in Missouri now, and that's about 5 mpg better than the old leaking, slobbering Hitachi that was on it. Good Luck

Was hoping to find some in driving range, but you can shoot me some pics and a price if you'd like. n2vws@yahoo.com

Paid $1900 for my 85 BRAT with rotten tires, a worn out carburetor, and other issues needing attention. Can send you a pic if you need it.
