  1. I have it out on the ground, outside the car, but I cannot get the spring compressor to fit in the thicker spring and slide in this large Toyota shock. How can I compress the spring and fit the large shock inside the coil. I disassembled the old Subie shock with this same compressor with no problem. But the compressor does not seem to fit with the new Honda coil/Toyota shock combo. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!
  2. Bumble Beast, I'm in the process of the KYB Toyota/Honda coil spring conversion & desperately need advice. The coil springs are so thick & shocks so big, can't get the spring compressor in anywhere. Any tips? And did yours come with a KYB dust cover on the shaft? Do you remember how you got the spring compressor in such a tight area? Or any saved pictures of that process? I'm stuck with my car in pieces! Thanks so much if you can help!
  3. Thanks again guys, I save so much time with your tricks. Its way faster to pick up my computer before my wrenches. I know theres a chance of sticks and sand could cause belt carnage, I'll just cut back on the alder plowing
  4. belts were done about 5000 miles ago, so I hope I'm good for a while...mechanic sd he replaced bad pullets too....trying to do my own belts from here on out. thanks for the info.
  5. Question for milesfox or anyone out there....89 Subaru, saw milesfox youtube video, talked about running without timing belt covers...can you go wheelin without them, or run half covers? I'd like to be able to fix on the side of the road, instead of walking.....can't trust my Subie in the mountains, damn belt keeps breaking every 50k
  6. AKghandi....you are awesome! It worked...thanks so much!
  7. EA82 engine. It misses at 1500 - 3000 rpms, but only under load, when driving. It'll rev fine in the driveway under any rpm. What is maf?
  8. Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated. I have a horrible miss & chugging on my EA82 89 Sub, 250K miles, it will sometime clear up & run like a champ for a day, or a couple of hours, but then this miss comes back to haunt me. It does not miss in the driveway, under any rpms, just under load, when driving at about 1500 - 3000 rpms. I have changed all of the below: spark plugs spark plug wires rotor cap fuel injector (only the injector, not the whole unit) fuel filter air filter coil It seemed to ok for about a week after I changed the fuel injector, but now is hit & miss. Any other ideas? I am ready give up & park it.
  9. Thanks every one for the help....I love my Subie, but I am crappy mechanic.
  10. Thanks for the help. Still stumpped, the link on the one reply says I need to adjust th belt & the other reply say I do not.
  11. I have a 89 Sub GL Wagon, just had to replace the timing belt AGAIN, broke after 20,000 miles, my mechanic told me it was because I did not get it adjusted, says I need to adjust after 1000 miles. I asked another mechanic & he said there is a tensioner, so it does not need to be adjusted at all. Any one know if the timing belts on 89 Subaru Wagons need to be adjusted? Thanks!
  12. First, thanks for all the past lift help.....I used an Outback steering coupler for my 89 GL wagon, barely squeeked it in...now steering wheel is crooked...anyone know an easy fix? Also, having carb problems....how do you fit a Weber on an 89 GL Wagon with power steering? I used Scott's advise on using a flat bar to move dual range shifter 2" & it worked like a champ! I really appreciate all the help on this forum!
  13. almost finished with a 4 inch front lift....what do you do with the dual range shifter...cut the floor or heat up & bend the shifter?
  14. Anyone ever tried the after market split boot, Quick Boot? Does it last? Is it worth 20.00?
  15. I bough t metric rims by accident, 15 1/2 instead of the 15. Can't find tires in US.....can I grind them down a little...any ideas? Old Peugeot rims.
  16. I have a 3500 ATV winch I want to install on my 89 Wagon for fun....has anyone tried this? Can you weld it to the stock front bumper? Or bolt...any help appreciated!
