  1. I will check out the radius bushings and see how they look thanks for the ideas!
  2. Update: I finally destroyed my tires and got new ones"poor alignment ruined my awsome tires:(", I had a full alignment done when I had them installed "the alignment wasn't bad at all", I pulled the motor and checked both motor mounts and the transmission mounts, I also got 2 new axles from the parts store "I've gone through so many these were the last 2 the store would give me and they will no longer guarantee them..." I bought good red grease spendy stuff lol, and pulled the axles apart and cleaned and re greased them. I've really only put 3-4k on them almost all "maybe 1-2 miles on gravel" are highway miles and they are starting to go. and my new tires on the back are showing signs of wearing more on the inside than the outside.I love this car more than any other vehicle I have ever owned, Hands down it is the funnest and most capable car/truck/4wheeler/montser truck/tractor I have ever owned lol, I dont want to get rid of it, this car is more reliable "other than axles" than most friends Ive had so i really dont want to get rid of it, So Where can I get "subaru axles" or EMPI axles, the next time I replace the axles I will also do all wheel bearings, ball joints, tie rod ends, and struts. I may even try and find a way to attach the tranny better. any other ideas.
  3. thank you, I have been at a stand still trying to find it in the chiltons and haynes manuals.
  4. I cant figure it out, does anyone know the part # for the o-ring that goes between the cam case and the heads on an ea 82? or what its called?
  5. the head is junk, now to pull the one off my motor and see if its okay and if not, Does anyone have a passenger side head for an ea 82 they wanna get rid of?
  6. so from what i can tell its leaking from the valves, and possibly from the small crack on the thinnest part of head between the valves, I dont know why but, I didn't think that was that unusual, but i could be wrong. I'm going to take it to the machine shop. I will probably pull the other head and make sure its okay.... Another question I had was : is there any reason I cant take the head off of another motor and bolt it up to this block? any info helps, I need this motor to last 30,000 miles and when i get back i will put in the 2.2!!!
  7. will do, I'm going to fill the exhaust port with water and see if it leaks out thank you
  8. no I drained the coolant when i pulled it in the shop, I didn't mess with the intake until i went to pull the head.
  9. bought a parts car its an 87 gl, pulled the motor, I noticed that there was antifreeze coming out of the exhaust port on the head, pulled the head, from what i can tell the head looks fine, it has the "ea 82 usual crack between the valves" but i dont think its significant enough to cause the antifreeze to drip out of the exhaust port as fast as it was, what do you guys think? I'm going to get the head resurfaced, do you think it could have just been a bad spot in the head gasket? or A crack that i cant see in the head some where , or is it the crack between the valves. its the passenger side head thanks
  10. They do great in the sand I have 205/75/r15 on my subie:
  11. yeah, i had to air down, the sand wasn't cooperating with subie, it was diggin.
  12. hope you guys enjoy!
  13. hey, I thought you guys might get a laugh or two outa this and maybe even a smile:), Why do i love my car??? b/c of this...
  14. thats was about what I was thinking, I can get the motor and reseal it myself, and supply you with a good wiring harness that goes with the motor, and I can also supply the adaptor plate and drilled flywheel, fuel pump, radiator, radiator fans, clutch kit, and whatever else I just don't have a place or tools to do the actual swap, I can even have the motor out of my car and rent a flatbed to bring it up to you. The whole point of me doing this is, I love subarus I started as a subaru specialty's shop hand at 16 and did that for 4 or 5 years on and off. I use this car for everything, deer, elk and duck hunting, I have a drift boat I pull with it, and I'd like to own a small travel trailer some day soon that I can pull it with. I'm not a hack it kinda guy and from what I've read you don't seem to be one either, I have the money to do this right now, and its very very important for me to have it done right. so let me know a where abouts of what it would cost to have you rebuild the wiring harness and install the motor and shoot high rather than low. Thank you sincerely for your help and your time with helping me figure this out.
  15. I'll drive to Portland no problem to get it done right, my biggest thing is having a resealed motor put in and of course price, I'd like to also get it done as soon as possible.
  16. hey, i heard about i guy who does the ea to ej swaps, but i cant seem to find him on the web, does anyone know who this guys is and if not does anyone know if there is someone that will do the ea to ej swap?
  17. I thought i'd read somewhere that you can use an EJ clutch when installing a 2.2 onto an ea tranny, i've looked and cant find the info, so maybe it doesn't exist. so what im saying.. is can i get a "better"/ceramic clutch when i put an ej 2.2 into my 86 wagon that has the EA dual range 5 speed? i know i need to get an xt6 pressure plate i'd like the extra pull of a ceramic clutch, i put a center force stage 1 clutch kit in my ford that has the straight 6 with a 4 speed and it solved all of my stalling/ bogging/burning of the clutch.. that's why im curious if i can do this to my subaru, with the amount of uphill driving i do it would help....
  18. Just installed a set a Bi-xoen hid conversion kit in my brothers 08 tacoma, they are awsome these are the hi/low beam ones, they work great and were super easy to install! the brand i bought were Kensun off amazon, the kit for my 86 subaru is 40.00 cheaper than my brothers was. ill post pictures when i get mine...!!!
  19. if you're talking about seperating the steering wheel itself from the steering column sometimes you have to use a steering wheel puller most parts stores will rent them super cheap

  20. i definitely want everyone to know im not blaming the sjr lift kit, it was far superior than any expectations i had, and the people i've referred to his site have also loved the lift kits and quality. i will keep the remaned for extras, and go buy stock ones, again this is why i love this site, thank you for the info i will post a pic of the front end when i get the tires back on, and keep you posted if the stock ones solve it. i will also check motor mounts. i did have to tow my dads full size chevy up a hill in gravel for about 5 miles, about 2 weeks b4 i put the lift on so maybe i did break a mount.
  21. also is there an alignment adjustment in the rear? and what brand of remand axles do you guys have ?
  22. it was the whole 9 yards, full lift kit, i didn't install it wrong, i try not to turn my steering wheel all the way so i don't max out the axles, i was kinda pissed when i wrote that, i had just broke the axle pin, its just frustrating i do a lot of gravel road driving and highway. i do have re maned axles. its just frustrating to change axles that often. i guess if i have to i will have to put a 2inch lift on, i noticed today that my tires are wearing super bad on the inside on the back tires... i did a ton of research b4 i bought this lift thanks to usmb and the members being so knowledgeable, i felt that i had a good understanding that the axles would be fine. sjr 4 inch lift is only suppose to put a 1 inch suspension lift, and 3 body right? again i have to apologize for the pitty party, if it was every 30,000 miles i had to change the axles id be fine with that, not every other oil change.. lol i did buy the full lift kit the 495.00 one. im going to get some stock axles at the junk yard, maybe that will help. thanks for the info
  23. when i bought this 4inch lift for my car i was under the impression that I WOULD NOT HAVE TO REPLACE Axles EVERY 5,000 MILES, im super super pissed off about this. 30,000 miles ive put on since ive had the lift and i have changed 7 axles. if this is the case, the lift is pointless......... am i the only one with this issue??? i was 100% under the impression that this would not happen with a 4 inch lift. wtf do i do i dont have the place to do this every 5,000 miles i live in an apartment.... so a HUGE warning to others interested in lifting there subaru, be ready to change axles constantly, i bought this car as a daily driver, and it is absolutly not.
