  3. i figured out the horse power of an ej 1.8 EJ181 Horsepower: 110 PS (81 kW; 108 bhp) @ 6000 rpm Torque: 149.1 N·m (110 lb·ft) @ 3200 rpm ea82 has Horsepower: Carb - 84 bhp (63 kW; 85 PS) @ 5200 RPM, SPFI - 90 bhp (67 kW; 91 PS) @ 5600 RPM MPFI - 97 bhp (72 kW; 98 PS) @ 5200 RPM Torque: Carb - 101 lb·ft (137 N·m) @ 3200 RPM SPFI - 101 lb·ft (137 N·m) @ 3200 RPM MPFI - 103 lb·ft (140 N·m) @ 3200 RPM so a gain of 24 horse power and 9 lb ft of torque so maybe a 2.0 would be better
  4. got it finished, i used high heat silicone, i wasnt having any coolant leaking outa the passage, the gasket seems to seal it off really well.i gooped it up pretty good, and used medium strength lock tight on all the hardware, woke up this morning and let it warm up and sprayed brake clean around the manifold and weber, as far as i can tell it seems to be sealed.the idle smoothed out but it still acts like its kinda missing when im at a constant speed around 2,000 rpms, but no worries it just has to make it thru the summer and ill put an EJ in it. any complaints on the EJ 1.8?ive read that the 2.2 is a little to much power for the fwd, how much horse power does the ej 1.8 have?
  5. thank you for the info i wasn't real sure how i was going to fix this, im going to try and get this taken care of today. i will let you guys know how it works out. the saying if you want somthing done right you got do it yourself seems to apply here, it sad that redline cares so little for its customers.... again thank you for the help, this car would be nothing but an idea without USMB and pooparu!!!
  6. i decided im going to pull it all apart and use some silicone of some kind and try and seal it up as best i can, this motor will only have to last me untill next winter, and im gunna go with the EJ 2.2 sadly enough i can work on those easier than i can the ea82 dunno why.
  7. i bought a weber adapter plate for my ea 82, i couldnt get it tuned myself so i took it to a shop to find out the adapter plate has an air leak....., 50.00 for an adapter plate that i have to take to a machine shop to have them remachine it????? i got it out of washington at carbs direct or somthing like that.... anyone else had this problem and does anyone know the phone number to redline? im not paying a machine shop to take care of some one elses mess up.... im possibly venting and i apologize ... so i guess i will have to unbolt the whole 9 yards and have the machine shop resurface EVERYTHING again sorry for venting...
  8. the clutch in my mothers 03 outback finally went out, i was surprised how long it lasted, this is a woods car for more than half the miles on it (175,000). just thought you guys might get a laugh or two. the pilot bearing was ceased (good eye right?) the throw out bearing was squealing, and on my way through salem the other day the clutch went. im always impressed with how long subarus will go... old or new they last longer than most cars...
  9. lol, thats why i come here for answers, thank you for correcting them
  10. i contacted the dealer ship here in town, they told me for an LSD rear diff i needed to use 75w90 NS so thats what i am going for.
  11. ive looked and looked, im going for a simple answer, what redline gear oil should i use in my LSD rear diff? and what redline gear oil should i put in my manual transmission? i drive an 85 wagon. ive looked around and cant find a strait answer... i know its probably been asked a hundred times so here is one hundred and one...
  12. Im going the go with the low/high beams just to keep it as "normal" as it can be anyways... lol, the kit is definitely the way to go(i bought the blue bulb type when i was young and dumb, they lasted 2 weeks and cost 30 or 40 bucks...) i figure this is one of those upgrades you get what you pay for as far as durability.i appreciate the info i will be doing this upgrade soon so i will post pics when im able to.thanks
  13. i looked at the other threads but all i could really find was people complaining about milage and jet sizes.
  14. looks like its definitely worth it, do you have the hi/low beam ones?
  15. yup, those look really good what kit are those?
  16. see if this helps http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=121609&page=2
  17. i just installed a manual choke weber on my 85 wagon i had ordered it for my 79 brat with an ea81, i was wondering what all i can eliminate under the hood, and how to properly adjust it, i dont know much about carbs... and what do i need to do with the 2 fuel lines i have left? thank you for any info.
  18. quick question..... how do you make a 3.7lsd work in my 3.9 open diff? basically i know a guy who has 3.7 lsd he is willing to sell me the carrier and housing out of an svx will this work?
  19. hey, if i did weld up my rear diff, wouldnt that chunk my rear tires and bind up when i drove on pavement even in 2wd? this car will be 70% highway and 30% offroad.
  20. yea it is going on the red dragon, im not really building this car for mudding it more so for elk hunting, deer hunting, and duck hunting. my goal is to have a rig that i can go anywhere i need it to i.e. snow crappy roads and mushy areas. is this worth it? i have always noticed that when i get stuck in my subie the left rear will spin and not the right or vise versa this vlsd is my attempt to have power at both wheels, is this rear end going to allow me to drive when i loose traction due to the poor articulation? im paying 250.00 for this and its a low miles diff, and i need a new rear diff anyways (someone striped the fill plug on the one currently on my 85) is this a decent price?
  21. hey i was wondering if a R160 VLSD 3.90 rear diff from a 1991 Legacy fit into my 85 GL wagon?
  22. hey ive been looking at doing the hid headlight kit conversion, my 85 GL has poor headlights im always rockin the brights and no one cares.. lol.has anyone done this? anything negative to say?
