  1. I chose to rally the wagon simply coz nobody else was doing it. *it's just as fast as the sedan *just as capable i have the suspension set up so that the car handles like a dream. it wasnt always so, quite a learning experience weight difference vs sedan = 80lbs hell.. i weigh 80lbs less than most other drivers it's a good rally car. really glad i chose to try something different. Jamie
  2. no no no ... not married..... but may as well be the blue wagon and the yellow wagon = the same car!!! repainted Video clips, and more photos here: http://www.subiegal.com/images/rallies/rallies.htm Jamie
  3. Stongard is out of business in spite of the existence of the web site the company is no longer.....
  4. ditto that. i have clear 3M style front protection on my Impreza check out: www.rockblocker.com excellent prices, excellent product. Jamie
  5. magnecore's are over $100 and do nothing for performance there are many cases of these wires CAUSING more harm than good with poor connections, popping off, inability to stay in place. with a 2.5... go OEM all the way set of 4 OEM plug wires - $29-39 Jamie
  6. so they say the AWD isnt working coz of a switch? what magical switch is this then? i know of no switch.... likely, the transfer clutches in the transmission are toast so essentially you have a FWD Legacy that is not supposed to be FWD too much torque to the Front wheels, they cant grab. this of course is just an educated guess. regardless, i'd say the tranny needs replacing. for $400 canadian... why not Jamie
  7. here is a nice write up - - how do to this yourself http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=472&highlight=suspension my first time swapping suspension with hand tools? 7-8 hours... i can do it now in less than 2 with air tools Jamie
  8. if it doesnt remain on? dont worry about it if it remains on, you need to get it in to be fixed likely an electrical sensor/controller gone bad but again, if the light is on just temporarily? i would just disregard. Jamie
  9. change the color of your grill badge warm up front grill badge with hairdryer take weee bitty flathead screw driver pry gently while warming at all sides of the badge keep prying and it will come free from the grill remove all excess adhesive with fine grit sandpaper, sand off the "black" color from the badge keep sanding to remove all of the black bits from the badge now... get ANY kind of paint, any color you like... paint the badge - - let it dry reinstall to your grill with double sided 3M tape fun to do and looks great when done Jamie
  10. the 96/97 Legacy Outback is a dual overhead cam - Phase I 2.5L engine these engines are prone to head gasket failure not ALL of them suffer this fate, but be SURE TO CHECK whichever car you are considering, for head gasket issues also check for the other commalities on these engines: oil leaks/seal leaks meaning: front main (oil pump), rear main, cam seals those are really the only gotchas with this car i have a 97 OBK but when i purchased it, it had suffered from HGasket Failure (i knew this) - - approx $1000 in parts to fix it properly and the car will now run like a champ for another 60-100k miles. They are good cars, reliable, & can go through anything. Unfortunately that first run of 2.5 engines has head gasket issues but that's nothing that cant be fixed... Jamie
  11. these guys have been around for YEARS http://www.ccrengines.com/ known to be reliable, dependable. Jamie
  12. why go cheap? TIRES are the only thing connecting your car to the road they are by far the most important thing on the car so why go cheap? get something good gripping, road hugging but AFFORDABLE. do you have a budget? any idea what you can afford? Jamie
  13. no we dont carry special tools... pretty much all of them are obsolete from subaru most of our techs buy them from kent-moore Jamie
  14. yep they are compatible. 5x100 lug pattern = same 55mm offset Jamie Thomas Jamie@chaplins.com http://www.subarugenuineparts.com *************************** http://www.subiegal.com
  15. nah... life is too short to argue everyone will have their own opinions based on THEIR experiences and that's okay all we can do is share those experiences and try to help others decide what is best for them cheers - Jamie
  16. AT or MT? MT they are totally different part numbers in Subaru's system does this mean they are compatible? hmmmmm the different part numbers indicates that SOMETHING changed. no way to confirm what that change was.... based on my experiences? i'd say they are compatible ..... as we know that no MAJOR changes were made AT appears that 98-2001 = all the same transmission so these should very much be compatible hope this helps Jamie
  17. i beg the differ i can cite COUNTLESS instances of complaints with magnecor wires main issue: **popping off at speed** which causes of course: bucking, shudder, and check engine light It has been my experience, that the contact points of the wires are no good. and they do NOTHING to enhance the performance of the vehicle so my advice for those needing wires, OEM Is best. they fit, they work, they are designed around your car. and for $80 less than Magnecore's? IMHO, that's more than worth it. Jamie
  18. bummer... well, fell free to check with me next time you need any OEM part we try our best to keep our prices L O W just too bad i didnt catch ya a few days ago... Jamie Thomas Jamie@chaplins.com http://www.subarugenuineparts.com *************************** http://www.subiegal.com
