  1. less than $100 per side for a replacement fog lamp assy (OEM) go here: https://www.subarugenuineparts.com/oe_parts_cat.html drill down in the body catalog to model and year, enter key word: fog each assy is $91.67 OEM, plug and play, no messing with wiring or custom mounting brackets. hope this helps somewhat. 2. there's no shortage there was a manufacturing issue see: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=864075 Jamie
  3. that's just silly. there is no logical reason to want to do this and YES on the newer cars you WILL GET A CEL the entire system is pressurized even a loose gas cap will toss a CEL... Jamie
  4. what pads are midas using? metallic? semi-metallic? pads could be part of the problem. no rotor is going to last forever. longevity depends squarely on the DRIVER and how the car is driven i find that OEM rotors work well. respond well. and can last. I have 106k on my ORIGINAL OE rotors on my Impreza they are about done.... but they have given me a good run if you want to check pricing on new oem rotors (discounted) 1) you will need to use our OEM catalog to access https://www.subarugenuineparts.com/oe_parts_cat.html 2) look up by part number - - 26310AC060 this is the 99 Legacy NON GT rotor unless you're racing the car, you really dont need any of that slotted / x-drilled stuff. hope this helps. 5. OEM wires are far superior to anything i've found in the aftermarket they are made for the car, and FIT key word... FIT most aftermarket wires do not have a good connection and have even been known to pop off (magnecores, sparko) not fun SOA430Q122 = DOHC SOA430Q119 = SOHC Check pricing for the sets here: https://www.subarugenuineparts.com/oe_parts_cat.html that's my recommendation and that's all i use, on both the street car, the race car and the 360! 6. IMHO if you are going to spend the money on struts... better buy the springs too makes absolutely no sense to me to go about it 1/2 way. want to refresh your ride, do it right. springs do wear out. struts wear out. strut mounts wear out if you're going for a like new ride, replace all 3 if you're just trying to squeak by, get just the struts IMHO, $.02 + change.... etc... etc... Jamie
  7. to be honest if you hit something hard enough to do any damage your rear diff, you are in huge trouble & your car is screwed. Rear diff protector is a nice add on though fairly easy to install, looks nice and does add some protection more than the rear skid, i would worry about a front skid protect your oil pan and cv joints www.get-primitive.com great place to get a 'real' skid plate Jamie
  8. as subaru never offered the Baja in that color, that's a tough one i think you may want the onyx metallic bottom color try going to; www.paintscratch.com - subaru/baja you'll see what i'm talking about Jamie
  9. most impreza systems should work on the Forester the Chassis is exactly the same any competent exhaust shop should be able to install any exhaust you want with realitive ease the only differences may be a flange here or a hanger there that's nothing for an exhaust shop. they can rework that in minutes. Jamie
  10. it only takes one hill... one time... one run down the road. these blocks are aluminum, not cast iron they can crack EASILY when overheated. shut down IMMEDIATELY if overheating. Jamie
  11. um... did you read what i wrote??? the block was covered under warranty why would a dealership make something up in order to replace the block under warranty (on which they make little to no money) no way would they "make up" damages to get "warranty work" sounds to me that you've had 1-2 bad dealership experiences and are biased for that, i am sorry... but not all dealerships are incompetent, theiving morons some of them actually do their jobs properly point is.... blocks crack - - hairline cracks can form due to high heat/overstress if you do not know this, then you dont know as much about engines and you are inferring that you do... Jamie
  12. my 99 Legacy GT not only had bad headgaskets but a cracked block which needed to be replaced i was uneducated at that time, and drove the car too long overheating my own fault, but it was covered under warranty so I got lucky. it does happen, has been known to happen, and will probably happen again Jamie
  13. 1 - i doubt the dealership was wrong. i bet they were spot on 2 - whomever repaired your car did not plug the rad. fans back in. it has been known to happen 3 - the car only needs to overheat one time to destroy head gaskets or yes, possibly injure the shortblock itself. Jamie
  14. you know where to ask this question? here: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=84 these guys have hacked and spliced just about everything on these cars i betcha one of them can help! Jamie

I will get you price quote, etc just as soon as I have a little more info to go on! Happy New Year! Jamie Thomas Jamie at chaplins.com *************************** http://www.subiegal.com
  17. if you have a 99DOHC, it's no different than the 98 you can use the 98 manual / instructions as a reference. Jamie Thomas Jamie at chaplins.com *************************** http://www.subiegal.com
  18. the only thing i see that can be as described is quite possibly the tensioner bracket/cover if you dont have this, you'd best get one. to confirm... go here: https://www.subarugenuineparts.com/oe_parts_cat.html look up by part number - - 13156aa051 I believe that to be the piece that's being described here. Jamie Thomas Jamie at chaplins.com *************************** http://www.subiegal.com
  19. this filter is great and will work for any non 2006 models if you have a 2006, you will need the smaller filter as the Larger H6 filter will not work otherwise, until we (Subaru) get the AA100 (black Roki filters) back in stock i would recommend using the SOA5165109 hope this helps! Jamie
  20. i've not had much luck w/the hood protectors you'd probably be better off with a 'clear' STICK ON hood protector/bra see: www.rockblocker.com it wont break it wont fade and you cant even see it once it's installed on the car I have this on both of my Impreza's.... hope this helps. Jamie
  21. thanks guys! i do my best to put m'self in YOUR shoes. when i order parts on the internet, i want them 2 days ago!!! so we do the best we can to be fast, and accurate. many thanks for the feedback. Happy New Year! Jamie Thomas Jamie at chaplins.com *************************** http://www.subiegal.com
  22. forester, legacy, impreza all had the DOHC 2.5L 98-99 model years hope this helps Jamie
  23. whirring sound = abs motor pulsing in brakes = normal abs behavior skidding is a straight line = car doing what you are telling it to do you can also brake under full abs lock and STEER at the same time that's the beauty of it. a full, controlled stop. cheers, Jamie
  24. does sound like the tell tale bad rear bearing. beefy Legacy replacement bearing is what you want. To view pricing, or to order - go here: 1) https://www.subarugenuineparts.com/oe_parts_cat.html 2) look up by part numbers below bearing - 28016AA030 oil seal - 28015AA090 oil seal - 28015AA100 oil seal - 28015AA110 axle nut (recommended) - 28044AA000 snap ring (recommended) - 28035AA040 let me know if you have questions. this should get your whirring grinding noise sorted! Happy Holidays!! Jamie Thomas Jamie at chaplins.com *************************** http://www.subiegal.com
