i dig cuz:cool:. heres my thoughts on that though dont you loose some of your ground clearance this way? -
ok so i bought zaps 86 hatch 3" lift. i just put cooper discoverer radials 205/75r14's on steel pugs. now the front end has a terrible \ /. the tires dont have fifty miles on them and they have already worn off the wear hairs on the outside. expensive tires i dont want to burn off in 6months. i replaced the drivers side lower control arm cause it was bent. the car pulled to the left so.... i went and got the front end alignment today thinking they would take care of the \ / as well as the pull. but they couldn't take the \ / out of the front end. they adjusted it most of the way on the passenger side but not the drivers side. i think this has to do with the difference in the rims one is a 504 and one is a 505. once i get lugs i can run the same four all around but until then i can move these to the back and see what happens. they said they adjusted the tie rods to zero (i guess no more movement). the shop said subaru's dont have the ability to adjust this issue any further. according to them i have to change the strut length or mess around with the lift on one side which sounds silly to me. now for the questions??????????? :-\ what size struts do i have? i dont know? i asked zap but he hasnt got back to me. once i have the strut out can i measure it some how or while its on the car? what size do i need for these tires? how do you know what size you should have? shop says they order struts based on factory spec'd cars orignal 13's on the car. what does this mean. according to people smarter than me nothing changes in the length of your strut when you lift the body. is that right? if so how do you account for the \ / just buy cheaper tires and burn em off? so what can i do?:-\ thanks alot for any help you can give me.

so are you going to use the trailer hitch where it is just divide it into two sleeves? and slide the new bumper in? if so doesnt the hitch take away some ground clearance(approach angles)? or are you talking about taking off the bumper and putting the hitch up in that area? sounds like your going to make a bumper and then customize a rear tire rack mount to fit on it? a picture of plans would help me. im a visual learner? i like the idea of using a existing tire rack mount and converting it! i really like the idea in the picture seems straight forward enough no custom bumper. oh and lets see some picture i know you guys out there have these! and what about the roof racks too. just want to explore all the options. peace -

sounds good gravelrx pictures would help alot. the one you found is basicaly what im looking for. i am wondering about the hook up underneath. i would be very interested in how you work yours out. i noticed clearwaters site and the rear tire rack. i sent him an email so hopefully he will get back to me. i like the way he mounted his tire but perhaps right in the center like the picture gravelrx has would enable me to use the tire for a bike rack! also it appears that he made a new rear bumper for his this may be more fabricating than i want to get into. but i could account for a high lift with a new bumber. about the TWE roof rack? where do you find such a thing? pictures are needed. and cost too. and thanks Jibs i will try to get ahold of those guys and see about some pictures. i know some folks out there have seen what im looking to do. there is even one that has a gas tank mount. this one has a custom bumper too. pwoens keep me up to date with your work i might not have anything worked out by then! really want to see some pictures!! thanks again -

i am thinking about what to do with the full size spare on my 86 hatch. right now its kicking it in the back but i would like its new home to be on the back. anybody got a rear tire mount rack on their subaru? i'm looking for pictures, and ideas on how i can make this happen! thank you.

ok sounds good now to the welder i go. thanks all for the info
-
im using the stock hanger bar. im just going to weld a bent piece of metal from one bushing to the other. make a kinda T beam.
-
I'm not really sure i want to burn them out some people are saying that they won't melt. But if they do melt once they get welded i need to know how to replace them. if they dont come out how do you put new ones in once they are burnt out ?????
-
I have a question about removing the bushings/bumpers from my rear diff. hanger. I want to get it welded so it wont bend but the rubber bushings/ bumpers have to come out first. i have beat on it with a pipe on the metal ring hoping that it would drop out but it doesnt seem to move at all. does anybody know how to take them out. thanks
-
You should have lifted the subaru just to prove a point!!!!
