  1. what do i need to turn my 90 legacy l fwd to an awd i went to the junkyard saw a beautiful awd 5 spd parts car...
  2. i'm back i brought my car down south to florida from md couldn't sell her been sitting for about 8 months starts right up cleaned her out good fresh oil and filter rotella t 15 40 pure one and transmission oil filter and gasket also cam gasket seal replaced the leaks finally slowed to a close stop but my ac isn't working to well vacuumed the old r12 switched over to r134a filled with oil freon all liquids changed the climate control cluster and the sensor on top the evap. but the ac aint blowing right the compressor dont kick on unless i bypass the compressor wire directly to a hot 12 positive wire is it just the compressor or is it a switch heard different remedies also changed all the relays all thats left is the compressor it is the stock old compressor sounds rough but when bypassed blows nyce HELP...
  3. like i said i'm new to subaru's that filter at the bottom is actually the atf filter i will do a complete transmission flush and change the oil filter and atf filter and the rotella 15w40 with a purolator pure one NO STOP LEAKS THIS TIME hopefully she keeps her legacy on...
  4. once again thanks guys i will go ahead with the rotella 15w40 i did change the top oil filter but weirdly the leggy has like a back up oil filter at the bottom of the driver side under the car close to the anti-freeze resevior. back on topic i need a good engine flush before i do this oil change and if i was going to use a stop leak what should i use? it's not that it's burning oil it's the oil thats leaking onto the exhaust manifold...
  5. i appreciate the responds the car has no problem getting up and going on hard accelerations and no blue smoke car is amazing just trying to keep it alive without doing a swap (ej 2.5) the temperatures lately have been hitting 100+ here in maryland which is weird because we usually hit 90 for the highest its been 105 103 102 the oil burning is the oil leaking to the exhaust manifolds and smoking so i need a solution for that since my budget is kinda rough with my 5 month old daughter but will definately look into the rotella. My personal choice was going to be castrol gtx high mileage like 10w30 or something but it is my first subi and i love the thing so i will go hunting for the 15w40 rotella thanks again...
  6. so i hit 222k miles on my leggy so far i used penzoil at first now mobil 1 fully synthetic 1030 high mileage. every oil change i at a quart of lucas stop leak. i recently seafoamed the entire car deep creep and everything my issue now is i need some advice on how to keep her alive the oil burns alot and is dark at basically 1000 miles so i need something stronger and more protective to her if any one has any advice it would be greatly appreciated thank you...

I had bought a conversion kit came with 3 12oz cans of the 134a and oil 2in1 the high and low pressure adapters the limit said 22~26oz while in bypass the compressor running I put 2 and a half cans as recommended it blew cold and everything but once the constant 12v wire was removed from the compressor it just won't kick on unless bypassed again...
  8. So ny leggy has been sittin for a while before I bought it and day by day I try bringing it back to life the latest project was evacuating the old r12 and retrofitting the new r134a system. The old system is drained and vacuumed and the new system is about to be put in.... problem now is the compressor won't kick in I checked all the fuses and relays all good the only time the compressor will work is with constant 12v source straight from the battery I was told either a temperature sensor or the clutch switch... Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated I'm still looking for a complete set of suspension for the leggy (4 shocks~struts) front & back thank you...

  11. just trying to remove bulky things from the engine bay trying to make it clean and simple... Not about power gain or looking pretty just having it look less clutter and more clean...

  13. i put back on my old crank position sensor and throttle position sensor car idles fine no codes i have a puddle of oil looked under the car not valve cover and not oil pan gasket, leak is leaking down from oil filter...
  14. after replacing everything no engine codes but still really high rpm on reg and cold start ups over 2k the leak should just be vcg but still worried bout the smoking like crazy...
  15. car has hella mileage i recently changed the sensors before doing the diagnose to find out the maf code...
  16. Just replaced the crank position sensor the tps and the ignition module had maf issues need a maf and iac. Car is now idling at 2k rpms and now i got oil leaking and smoking from near the exhaust manifold like crazy hoping its just the valve covers wagon has 217k miles did the flex plate the water pump and timing belt oil plugs wires and the distributor help!!!

My 90 legacy L has been hurting since the water pump and timing belt job was done, i did a diagnose fixed my maf issue then i ran to the junkyard found an awesome donor car started swapping part like crazy did the crank angle sensor the spark plug distributor the ignition module the iac just need a fair condition maf car is running better but i only feel 2 gears like hi and low before we had a low med high kinda feel all parts were compatible...
  18. so while i was doing a diagnostic on my legacy right under the steering wheel i saw this brown sensor and one end had 2 black wires that seemed to be cut anyone know if this is normal and if not where they belong?

I finally got the diagnose going man the black sensor was deep in there anyways pulled up a code 23 MAF pulled the MAF cleaned it fixed the crooked prongs car is driving way better thanks so much for your help... Anyone has a weird issue with your stock radio where only on side plays? my left speakers front and back are randoly cutting off...

  21. before the repair the green power light was constantly on no bogging no rough idles or random rpm but since the water pump and timing belt repair the car starts gets like 1900rpm then shuts off if it goes over 2k rpm on start it will stay on but every time i come to a complete stop i need to keep the car in neutral to keep it on when driving sometimes the green power light randomly comes on if i don't hit the gas it will cut off. When then green light comes on i can put the car in neutral and the light will cut off on every start up the green power light flashes 16 times... i have checked all my injectors and replaced the one that was not working all have power 2 them and all are firing, recently replaced plugs and oil change nothing major also had the flex plate replaced it was ripped apart i have not done a diagnose yet still trying to figure out how thanks for the replies...

I got a 90 legacy L 2wd auto 216k miles just did the water pump & timing belt think the mechanic did a half rump roast job my car keeps cutting off on me in the middle of the road when I turn the car on the green power light flashes 16 times then idles weird when I drive it about 2 minutes later it stalls out when I try to start it back up it hesitates I'm new with subaru's & new to the forum I just had a baby girl & I'm lost with this legacy on what's wrong with it any help please it would be greatly appreciated...
