old sub freak

Hey all ...My 84 hatchback has no power to the fuel pump..I think its the "roll over switch"..Its just above the hood latch,a little blue box...can these be bought or bypassed ? Thank you ,todd

I have a good set of Brat seats with all the hardware.the seat belts are a little iffy but with some determination i think they could work...$200 bucks for the whole deal ..Thanks.Hope i posted this in a right spot,Todd

Well....Easy peasy Japanesy I sprayed down all the linkage with PB Blaster...Ta Da Fixed it haha ,Yep just stuck linkage ..Got it to idle nice and on with the program...Its been through the mill BUT its a runner !! Thanks for the help !!

Hey gang..So I just got a 84 brat running after sitting 6 years? well I got it running but instead of purring it is ROARING !! I can't get it to idle down.The cable is loose so its something to do with the carb? I think ?? I'm going to check the power to the different wires on the carb and see if that might be it ..Any thoughts ?/ Thanks PS..If i pull one of the spring loaded piston things it will come down some...but still..its a ha toch ee

Hey Gang,well my daughters 1982 1600 2 wheel drive hatchback tachometer bounces ..? mabey 2 or 3 rpm's. .in the past i would oil the shaft and it was fixed. But here's still bounces..Runs great ,no change in the idle...any thoughts? its a on line aftermarket Distributor...Thanks ,The Old Man

Hello,my daughters Subaru wagon just lost 3rd gear and she is ready to move on ..all stock except a weber carb... $600 bucks Mt Vernon, Washington ATT00001.txt ATT00001 (1).txt

so ...did you fix it? I just went through the same dance...No heater fan ,wipers or radio..messed n tested with fusable links ..Then out of the blue everything works...Till this morning turned the key to on and again all is working.....then i started it and nada.nothing !! So i gentley wiggled the key while it was warming up and ..Bingo everything works again..must be the contacts in the ignition switch...Now do i replace it or hope i can clean the contacts and go on with life haha have fun with your new ride..Great Rigs !!

so ..di you get it fixed? I have had to replace a couple trannys that were stuck in 4th gear.we could not get it out of gear. tryed everything...Hope you got it going without too much work..I have a few trannys if you need one...yea the guy spaced and started in 4th gear and that was that !!

well i went out this morning and turned the key to on...everything worked, wipers,heater fan and radio...so i started it up and......nada nothing works now....so i gently jiggled the ignition key and wa la everything works again....so ..think i should replace the ignition switch or just try n clean it with contact cleaner..anyone had this problem ?? Thank you

Like the ignition switch may be working intermittently? Yea it’s a ood one 5 fuses in a row crap out .. I would think the switch is ok it’s only got 101, 685 miles on it haha . That’s sounds like a lot but you know .. they’ll go 300,000 .. live em thanks

Hey Dave, do you mean 10 in a twenty . Wrong amp ? Yea now everything is good but she said it had a history of loosing power to wipers ect... I’m going to do the jiggle test on the wires around the fuselage links . Just in case .. thank you !

Yes , I took them off and with a test light checked them on the positive post . All good ... but after that .... All is well . Power to everything.. hmmmm. I can’t let it slide as I don’t want it to get hot again .. I’ll look n see what link goes to what and go from there.. dumb luck ...I followed her for 15 miles and no white smoke so Mabey It didn’t blow a head gasket. Changed the oil . Looked funky. So I will keep at it . Thank you

Hey gang,My daughters 1982 1600 hatch overheated (insert sad face) There is no power to the radiator fan ...Or the wipers or the heater fan...(insert surprised face)...5 of the fuses on the top bank of the fuse box are powerless..any thoughts,,maybe a rabbit out of the hat fix ha ha,Thanks,The old man

Well so far so good...Its holding oil and all is right with the world !!

So If your ever in a real wild mood you can change the Brat logo just behind the side window to read FART .I used black tape once....Just for a day..Real head turner...

And still is haha..i too just ordered 4 of them.The ebay gasket set had no cam tower seals and the ones for the head gasket were thin o rings.The gasket does have copper inserts around the oil channel...

So i talked to the folks at Birch bay and they are SHORT a few Subaru's....So If you are not busy that weekend it should be fun and lots of subaru stuff going on...see ya there,todd.

Well I hope this is the final chapter on the cursed oil seal....I went to put everything back together and again the new seal will not fit ...Hmmmm The used seal i had fit in the shop where we dressed the hole up at,but not this new one, again just a coat of paint too thick....so I took off the bell housing and put it on from the inside !! Unreal.....It was a bugger.... I said a prayer it would hold...and it apparently did..But not before worrying me sick...We get the engine in and all looks good.We run to the gas station and back and there is oil all over the under side of the tranny and cross bar...... Soooooo, I cleaned n wiped as bests i could and pondered....Hmmmm..What would Guss do ?.Is this going to take three trys ?????So we fired it up and watched....... but no leaks.No LEAKS ! ???... So my theory is this...Just before i installed the engine i spilled a bit filling it up with oil...Could that oil have layed somewhere on the engine area and was wind blown back when we went to the station ??? Or is the Cosmos in tune with Neptune making life just seem real.... haha...I'll let you how the next hundred miles plays out.....
