  1. Newbies Newbies Newbies!!!!! This group is great..super friendly..you couldnt ask for a better bunch of people..Its almost like one HUGE happy family. It wasnt too long ago I was a newbie.. I have made alot of good friends here. And us CT/NE group have tendencies of being a bit rowdy at social gatherings:grin: . As for the knowledge of this group???? There is none better...but to warn you..this place is addicting and before long you will have a basement/garage full of spare parts and multiple cars...and if you hang around long enough you will be looking for vintage Subarus just for the fun of them.....me ..perfect example. Welcome!!!
  2. It could be a few things....clogged radiator (the EA82s are notorious for it),is water pouring from the weeper of the water pump?sure sign that could be bad...also check for the antifreeze in the oil or vise versa..or is it smoking?? those are possible head gasket signs....But I am thinking clogged radiator. I could be wrong but I know this much...dont let it overheat too much or you will be needing head gaskets. Good Luck with it!
  3. LOL I used to live by you and might know the JY you went to...If it is the one I might be thinking about..they hire these girls(family members) to work the counter that dont have a clue...Sometimes you have to say GL coupe,hatch,wagon..and even then they are clueless. I worked for a JY for awhile and actually knew more about the cars than the owner did.Needless to say..he hated that fact and I didnt work there for very long.
  4. You have to keep asking ..I just got a FSM for my 82 GLF from a board member.sometimes they just forget to look or forget they even have one. I also have a copy of "How to keep your Subaru Alive" Volume 2 on CD and I like it.Very informative. If you want I could burn you a copy.
  5. Mary..thinking about having another gathering maybe late Summer early Fall..And I tell you what...once I get the coupe completely road worthy we will take a road trip up your way..hows that sound??

I know Tom and myself had a great time..I hope everyone else did too....And I will download some pics tomorrow...they are pretty incriminating thats for sure:grin:. Andrews SplitGate Wagon is incredible! With all the Subes in my parking lot we had our own little show happening. Not often you get a vast array of them together at the same time. List of cars: 73 Split Gate Wagon 78 4WD wagon 78 (?) Gen 1 Brat..sorry Jessie I forgot the year 82 GLF 2005 Impreza Outback Sport Daves Legacy I dont know the year 92 Loyale Wagon SVX of unknown year. Thanks for the help with the food and stuff...some of you missed Daves awesome grilled bananas with ice cream..Almost set the house on fire. Rain held off most of the time. A good time had by all I hope and no working on cars was involved
  13. Party just started and someone already broke the toilet!!! LOL...Matt and his wife are here and Jessie and Andrew and his 73 wagon will be here shortly...incriminating pics to come
  14. The shame I am having is seeing the GLF:( ....not having anything on it that I could use on mine. I havent been to a junk yard since I used to work at one...and there arent any good ones here....I am jealous of you. The justy reminded me of the one I used to have..but mine was a dark grey.
  15. Congrats Jess!!! Us Gals have to have our project cars too. Dont feel bad about it only having 700+ miles in eight years...hopefully it was started once in awhile and ran. My GLF has 32,715 miles on it and its 23 years old! I dont even want to do the math on that. Its going to be fine..its a Subaru!! almost anything can be fixed on it. Oh! And I have riden and drove a SVX (Thanks to Hocrest) and all I have to say is OMG:eek: ..you are going to love the XT6
  16. Well!! Since I happen to own an 82 GLF I might be able to help. I believe they were called GLFs until 83 then went to the GL-10 with the digital dash.. Now my 82 GLF has all the options from sunroof to power windows and AC. Thats about all I know about the differences between the GL DL and GLF..I believe its mainly trim. I hope this turns out ...here is a pic of my 82 GLF...she is soo pretty with only 32,000 miles on her
  17. All is good!! Weather Looks GREAT!!! I think we are going to have a good weekend!! . I am looking forward to seeing everyone! I warned my neighbors that the parking lot is going to be filled with Subarus....The one ( I love him he is sooo funny) said that we are all crazy..he doesnt understand. He just shook his head and walked away:grin: Melis..will call you later. See ya'll tomorrow!
  18. Finally after a couple weeks of cold rainy weather ( I thought it was spring??) looks like we are going to have some good weather. Finally get to go out and clean up Lucky for tomorrow!! I can't have her looking all dirty and spotted when there are friends coming over to see her....want her to give a good impression. Plus with Andrews 73 (OMG I can't wait to drool over that thing!)coming, she has to look her best. A nice wash and wax...tire shine, polish up those beautiful rims. And as soon as I find paint to match I want to prep and paint and swap her bad fender. My new one is the right color but has some deep scratches and cracking to the paint. I need to bond with her..I think that will help me. I havent been able to bond with her yet like I have with Bucky. Gotto go get a new battery and swap it out. (going to put new battery in Bucky and give Lucky his old one)So I can start her up when ppl are her to see her......pour antifreeze all over the ground:lol:. If anyone coming has a large gas can can they possibly bring it?? I wanted to run her across the street and put some fresh gas in her but wont do it with the pump out. I think some fresh gas might help with her smoking abit too.
  19. I just got back from the store..picked up the burgers and hot dogs and condiments...just need the rolls and whatever anyone wants to drink, beer, soda, booze:grin: Going to put a sign up on the guard rail with just the letters USMB so you know where to turn in at. See yall Sat!
  20. COOL!!! Ya'll are great and I am sooo glad you are coming Andrew with the wagon...I want to drool over it...Plus I just got a NICE pre payment for 8 dreamcatchers so all is well!!! Can't wait to see ya'll Sat...
  21. OK we have the potatoe and macaroni salad and some drinks covered! I got the Burgers, hot dogs and got a request for some chicken, covered. This is all going to work out..hope its going to be a nice fun group of friends and cookout!
  22. Could be a few different things causing the overheating..thermostat could be partially stuck closed or fully closed, low or no antifreeze, clogged radiator...start with the simple first. I know my 82 GLF has 2 electric fans on the radiator..none driven off the motor like my 92 Loyale...make sure they are turning on. Dont let it overheat too much or you will be doing a head gasket and or head change on it. Hopefully no damage has been done.
  23. Yup I have a big grill going (freecycle is wonderful) going to get burgers and hot dogs....could use help with the paper plates,chips,6 different kinds of potatoe salad:grin:. And whatever anyone wants to bring. Anyone want to bring their own drink of choice too. . I have some AfterShock and thats about it
  24. All Still looks good for this Sat.. Like I mentioned before ..any time around 1 or so would be fine..if it looks like rain I can get my neighbor to move the bronco out of the garage and we can use it. I hate asking this but if anyone can bring anything to help with the feeding of ppl it would be much appreciated. Plus like mentioned before ..PM me and I will give anyone who needs it my phone number
  25. Geesh!! Even my boyfriend yelled at me last night (and he isnt a car guy). He said if I tried to sell it he would buy it.He says its just too easy to work on..specially after working on his 2001 Toyota truck over the weekend. Ya'll would have laughed hear my comments..like ...why it the motor layed out in a V I thought all motors were supposed to be flat? Where's the spare...what do you mean its under the truck...that makes no sence. I truely love this coupe and I know its not that bad off...but I do need to get it on the road for about a month so I can get my wagon fixed right.Poor Bucky needs so much and I just can't take him down to do it.He is just so darn dependable but is derserving of some work.I have had my Loyale for a year and a half with only a broken axle (broke at 60+ on the highway and still made it 30 miles home)..and a bad plug wire. But he needs so much more.
