Towing 2300 lbs 1200 miles with my GL?
I know that towing another car with a Subaru can be kinda scarey!!! Just ask moosens about our trip to pick up the GLF. Stopping is NOT easy ..hills are NOT easy..It can be done but you have to be very very careful.... Leave PLENTY of room and be super careful on the turns. I would not recommend it to anyone ...thats just my opinion. We towed the GLF something like 300+ miles and it was not fun...moosens did a terrific job though .

What engines are in these cars.....??
I hate AT...with a passion.. I personally will never own another AT for a daily driver.(But will make an exception if I get my 82 GLF coupe back..33K miles now?). The Turbo would be cool..just take care of it regularly. These cars are just ridiculously easy to work on though. I bought my Loyale (FWD 5spd) over 2 years ago for $600. It has been the most reliable car I have ever owned. Has just shy of 200,000 miles on it and it just recently got its first new clutch. They do have their quirks though..such as HLA ticks, oil leaks, and timing belts. The oil leaks and tick arent really a problem ..more of an annoyance (spelling). When my Loyale goes I will be looking for another one. Either sounds like a decent score for the money.

Hats off to USMB members!
USMB Members are some of the best in the world. They seem to bend over backwards to help other members out...I know I have my group of members that I can't thank enough and that I will do anything in my power to return all thier favors ( Moosens,Matt and Michelle,Jessie,Melis and Dave,Turbone and others) Everyone should be so honered to belong to a group of people as good as this.

New Subie tomorrow????
Good score..I can tell ya from experience ..the FWD Loyales get TERRIFIC gas mileage. As for the oil leaking...she wont rust!! I adore my FWD Loyale ..bought him 2 years ago for $600..put just shy of 40,000 miles on him with very very few issues. Mine spent most of his life as a commuter car and then he was the loaner car for two dealerships before I got him. Gongrats on your new addition

Bucky is Possessed!!
So this morning I am sitting in the MD drive-through....and suddenly the possed stereo kicks on.....loudly I must say..and I had a door open light come on. Going to check some things this weekend with the multimeter and see if I can come up with something. Even though its almost becoming funny! Thanks for the help guys ..now I have some place to start

Bucky is Possessed!!
OK I dont know whats up here or where to start but Bucky is becoming an electrical nightmare...First the seatbelts...then the stereo (which now wont come on at all) and the clock wont keep time. It acts like its a bad ground somewhere but I dont know where to start.Sometimes it tells me there is a door open that isnt or a seatbelt is unhooked but its not..plus the stereo was intermittent....one time it would come on the next it wouldnt ..now it doesnt come on at all. You used to have to wiggle the key a bit to get the accessories to turn on..now all that works but the stereo...no fuses are blown and I checked the wiring nothing bad there..BTW this is a $300 JVC stereo..Mossens said something about the ignition switch can do some unusual things...You guys think that might be it?? Car still starts and runs fine. Where are the other ground wires? Is there something under the hood that could cause this wierd electrical issues..since we did pull the motor. Its just getting cold and I dont want to feel like I can't depend on my car and I cant afford to be looking for another one. Oh! Another BTW...it isnt having any of the classic bad altinator symptoms

Goodbye old friend
I feel sorry for your loss.I agree with Ever Victorious...I sometimes wish I never got rid of some of my others..my Justy went to the scrapper and wehen I look at the pictures I kick myself..it had NO rust just some dents and a bad motor.I will be a basket case when my beloved Buckys time comes but he will live on in another Subaru. Maybe we need to start a rememberence page.

Help again!
If you want to take a small drive..Danbury Gulf @ exit 4 off 84...The mechanic,Chris, is excellent with Subarus. He has done some amazing work to an old hatchback...plus he is the only mechanic I would trust to touch my Loyale (besides a certain group of club member...you know who you are and that I love you guys)

Might be getting a 73 splitgate!!for free
That looks like a picture of WagonsOnlys splitgate..the one he picked up in GA.
-
what do you have to say about my car = pic's
I personally think its a beauty!!!
-
How dedicated are you?
I think Moosens and Pat have won this award for the effort to get Pauls 74 (?) coupe across country. Pat towed that car through all sorts of weather and some mechanical problems ..if I remember right..just to deliver this little beauty here to the east coast. And I believe Pat then picked up a Legacy in PA and towed that back to the west coast. Also there is the trip Paul and me made to pick up the 82 GLF (the 32K one paul is driving now that was mine) ..a 5 hour drive up to Rochester NY and tow dollied it back here to CT ....with Pauls 84 GL wagon...over mountains and through the woods. The couple scarey moments where the GL didnt exactly want to stop.......or turn...or go up the hills. Then there was Andrews (WagonsOnly) trip to Georgia to get his GORGOUS split gate. And Hocrest and LeakingOils multiple trips for Melis' 3 door and her new XT6. I have to say there are some dedicated members here!!

Seafoam injection for older subes.
You mean they arent supposed to smoke and stink?!?!?!?! ..I thought that was a standard feature with all Subarus.
-
these are called touring wagons....right??
Nope...the Loyale is just a GL/DL with a new name basically..It is actually closer to the DL package.
-
these are called touring wagons....right??
Yup...thats a touring wagon...and looks like a beauty to match!!Too bad its so far away

Auto Seat Belt issues!?!?!?!
LMAO..I was wondering the same thing. I cranked the drivers side belt back tis morning before work...went to the store and when I opened the door it retracted... I said something on the line of...B**^#^@ better return now!! Well came out of the store and now they are working...Just another reason why I LOVE this quirky little Loyale! Thanks for the help guys!

Auto Seat Belt issues!?!?!?!
I just left my boyfriends house ...havent drove my beloved Bucky since Friday night ..went and started him up and the auto seat belts wouldnt engage. Both sides are stuck in the door open position ...no light on ,on the dash display. I open the door and the door ajar light comes on..I hit the door lock and that light wont go out(?). I checked under the dash for a fuse and found non for the seat belts. Now we were stuck in something like 10 days of straight rain and maybe something inside the doors got wet and shorted something out?? Is there a fuse somewhere else for the seat belts??Could it just be a small electrical gremlin somewhere?? Thanks in advance for any help....BTW.. I still LOVE my Loyale...230+ miles to about 6 gallons of gas!

92' Loyale ticking. Will this fix it??
We just resealed my entire engine in my Loyale..and resealed the oil pump...I still have a minor tick at first but it does go away....Have you tried replacing the HLAs?? Thats usually what is causeing the tick and if the other remedies dont work thats about all thats left. I wouldnt junk the car for a tick personally...I ran mine for 2 years with the ticking (about 35,000 miles). Just a thought

My axle was so bad
About 3 months after I got my Loyale I snapped an axle...I finally tossed it a couple months ago..but the piece that holds the bearings in shattered in 3 places..dropped a couple bearings out and breaking off a big chunk of the outer knuckle. Still drove it 30 miles to my friends house..fighting to keep it on the road but it made it! So yours doesnt look tooooo bad:brow: . Good Luck with the Job! Fingers crossed you get it!

Did U Guys Know???
Nice to hear some kind words on the FWD ones...everyone just seems so hung up on the 4WD and they seem to forget that the FWD ones are a blast to drive..not carrying around the extra weight..and I believe but could be wrong..that the gearing is a bit different.I know mine is even fun to drive in the snow (nice meaty snow tires help). Someday I will have a 4WD one but until then you still couldnt offer me enough money to get rid of my Bucky. 2 years of enjoyment from the most reliable car I have EVER owned. Here's to, at least. another 100,000 miles ( goal is to get 300,000 out of it) Thanks Phil for the awesome clutch!!!!!
