*edit* $3k for a brat; when is it worth it?
I think the worth is deturmined by the buyer...Its like any "collectable"...it may be "worth" so much..but to find someone willing to pay that for it is another thing. How bad does the buyer want it.Seems the Brats are getting more popular again and that will cause the selling prices to go up.

First Post: Cheapest/Easiest older Subaru to maintain?
I vote for the GLs and Loyales... I have had mine ($600) for almost 3 years with very very minor problems and is very cheap and easy to fix. Yes..rust is an issue with them but as long as you keep up on it it really isnt a problem

Thanks to moosens...we found it on Ebay..and $300 ..but its a North East car and does have minor rust. But there are alot more people out here that have come across much better deals on much better cars. All good things come to those who wait. I am sorry I may have offended you jack:o I am sorry!

Any Ideas? 89 Subaru GL Has an Owie
Cynthia...I have been holding off saying anything on this post..but girl...come on!!!! Get over the "eww sticky oil all over my acrylic nails"!!!! I dont think you realize there are quite a few of us females on this board who wrench our own cars.... Me being one of them...and I actually have witnesses to me doing it WITH my acrylic nails.I totally understand your ordeal. I love my Loyale as much as you love yours.I am also very very picky about my car (ask anyone who has heard me complain LOL). But please stop playing the "its ok cause I am a dumb female" act. You just have never been educated on this stuff.. Ask the questions...we have heard it all and have never judged anyone for being uneducated thats what this board is here for. I am happy to see you are trying and learning. As for garages doing the work...you had better be careful. They will try to rob you blind!!! Just ask some local friends over for a cookout and tranny swap party...Its so easy ..honestly!! We pulled my engine...resealed it...put in a new clutch..rebuilt the oil pump....and put new front breaks on my Loyale in less then a day. I am serious its very easy.. Good Luck!!

I can't believe I am doing this!!!!
Tomorrow afternoon I will be Subaruless!!!! But only for the weekend...I am actually handing over the keys to my beloved Loyale Bucky to someone else. But its OK..he is going to a caring long time club member (who hasnt been on the board for a long time though). And only for repairs!!! Some members know Rory and have spoken very highly of him. And I have become friends with him through another friend (perfect case of small world syndrome). He has been bugging me for weeks now to hand over my Bucky and let him go over him so I broke down and said he could have Buck for the weekend. I have NEVER let this wagon out of my sight since I have owned it...which is going on 3 years now. Moosens knows Rory and believes in his ability. OH! BTW Moosens.....Rory says Hi!!!!!Talk Soon!! And he may be back into Subarus...tomorrow should be getting a 2006 Legacy GT wagon. Keep your fingers crossed that Rory doesnt find anything major wrong with my Loyale. I am going to be flipping out for the weekend.

Carlisle May 19-21
I have been following this thread for abit....and really wanted to go this year (since Carlisle IS my home town and I know everything there is about it) but with the buying of the house...planning a stinkin wedding...and a car thats on its last leg...its just not going to happen. Camping is cool there...the night life is a blast!! ALL the motels are over priced but alittle better if you cross the river and head to Harrisburg for one.Of course...one of my favorite things to do is go tent camping..nothing like it...this girl isnt a pansy. The best little pizza and sub shop is close by...called George's..its in-town...head to the center of town to the main light at the courthouse and turn right ...block and a half down on the right.Or when you come out of the fairgrounds turn right and head up rt 34 into Perry County (10 minutes from there) and stop at Pandomonium Bar and Grill ( my old hang out..miss that place) Dark, and loud but food is good and they have something like 6 pool tables...or right past the Pando is Shermans Creek Inn...weekends they have a Buffet in the dining room that is good or if you are in the bar section (which is bright) the food there is awesome! OK enough memories for me.......I miss PA

Engine Light...Again.
I am in CT and my Loyale with 193,000 miles check engine light isnt on ..for the first time in 2 and a half years...Mine was the EGR sylinoid...tried replacing it with used ones with no luck...just broke down and got one from the dealer....all better now. EGR sylinoid is one of the most common check engine light things (code 34). Part new is over $100 and takes a whole 5 minutes to replace...or just get a roll of black electrical tape and do what alot of us do

Bucky92 replied to Bucky92's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThanks Ed..you know I value your opinion..you are such a great guy. I definately think I want to start looking for one..preferably a white 5 spd ( hate automatics and just seem partial to white wagons). Now if I can find one cheap..probably have to wait till spring when the AWD/4WD demand is over.

pulling EA82's
EA82 is non-interference (yeah:banana: ) Also...get some PB Blaster and spray it on the exhaust studs and the motor mount bolts the night before. It is super easy to do just take your time and you should be fine...remember where all the electrical connections go and while you have it out..reseal everything..its so worth it. I had help the first time I had my EA82 pulled and now I would not be afraid to do it myself (and dont forget I am a girl). Also when you do timing belts...remember put one on then turn engine 180 degrees before putting the other on. Good Luck and have FUN!

Bucky92 replied to Bucky92's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXLOL...I have no intentions of completely retiring my Bucky..I am going for 300,000 miles or he falls apart...whichever comes first. Actually living here in the Rust belt I want to keep him and eventually fix all thats wrong with him. I LOVE this Loyale ( just ask anyone over in the Older Gen). Thanks for the advise on the Imprezas...Definately think I am going to look at the earlier models (sorry I dont want to give up non-interferece motors.)
