photo request: 1989 isuzu trooper wheel on old sube
BGD liked to give some really off the wall advise...for example...insisted that the reason my XT6 alt went bad was because I added new sheet metal when I had a hole in the floor repaired..so the car wasnt grounded right anymore.( the true reason was a combo bad plug/loose belt/a ton and a half of belt dressing shorted it out). I know he pissed me off many times and alot of others. I wont get into his theory that ONLY EA82s are balanced motors and the greatest creation of all time..his whole 3 main bearing worship thing

That is what was causing some of my XT6s stalling problem...the little yellow " Hey dummy you need to put some gas in me" light doesnt work anymore and every time I run it that low it will stall.

Temp Issues.
+1 for what dearon said...since I just went threw the same thing with my XT6..this is what I have done to cool it off..removed the thermostat..( cooled it right off cept in long idle it would still start to heat up...flushed the cooling system...removed the radiator and checked the fins and cleaned out any garbage that desided to live between them...my thermosensor for my one fan is bad so I just jumped my fan switch to run all the time when thecar is running....nice and cool now...no heat but its finally warm out...waiting for an OEM thermostat right now and will get a new thermosensor soon

I am such a Tease
Have to share another teaser..please excuse me for all this but I need the encouragement cause I have never tried to repaint an entire car...let alone go alittle fancy and 2 tone...I plan on adding a second coat tomorrow and after finishing the yellow...do you think I should throw on a couple layers of clear coat to protect the paint...since rattle can wont harden like true auto paint?

Another Rocky Update..no more rust! With Teaser Pics
14 hours of prep work yesterday....this project has allowed me to put Bucky back into action:banana: ( I love my wagon ) cause this is probably going to take the next 2 weeks to complete...even though Rock is being rattle canned for now it just a TON of prep to doo the two toning..plus I am going to have to use some pinstriping to cover where the 2 colors meet. Mick designed the coolest "Under Construction" decal for him too:grin:

Exhaust Va-Va VOOM!!!!!
Now this is the exhaust from my XT6 ..but you will get the idea for an easy fix.: Dont mind my fiances feet..fe is taking the pin striping off so we can paint the car
-
Exhaust Va-Va VOOM!!!!!
Yup that can be fixed..take off the heat shield and have someone cut and weld a small piece of straight pipe in..Give me 5 minutes and I will take a pic of the patch on my XT6...but thats the same place my Loyale broke.
-
Exhaust Va-Va VOOM!!!!!
Well the exhaust thats on my 92 Loyale is actually off of on 86 carbed wagon ( we pinched the "trumbone" shut and folded it over...car still passes emmissions with flying colors)...it has the dual cats...and the reason I stated resinator pipe cause in the parts books ..thats what it is listed as...and if you just ask for the Cat( Y pipe) its like $400 but the res is $160. I do believe all EA82s have the duals..my ER27 also runs the duals. I can't remember if my EA81 had duals or not. My ER27 has a patch I can try and get a pic and maybe it will help you figure out a cheap way to fix it ( Mines was right where the flange was also.
-
Voltage not quite right.
Umm..this is just an idea of something to check also since it was the culprit of alot of my headache with the XT6..but dont know if it would apply to an EA81...but the connector ( the white one)...how do the connectors look? If they are looking bad or the connector is starting to deteriorate .I know it causes many mant many issues with the ER27s...Like I said ...its just an idea

New coupe pics!
Its looking great...cant wait to see it after its painted

Another Rocky Update..no more rust! With Teaser Pics
I finally finished fixing all of Rockys visable rust issues yesterday  . I tell you what...he is looking like a new man... ( I also found out why he was stalling again Friday...fuel light doesnt work and when it gets that low when you come to a stop he will sputter out and die...note to self..keep gas in the darn thing stupid" I also started the serious repainting.Even though its just rattle canned its better then primer patches everywhere. I am working on the black parts ....Here is the scoop...roof hood bumpers and trunk lid will be black along with the lower portion ( rockers etc) and the indented "stripe" along the sides....the mirrors and rest of the sides will be yellow...similar to KingBobDoles XT6 but with a twist since I will not copy..just pull ideas from. I may toss up some teaser pics but I will keep y'all in suspense till after carlisle...unless i dont make it there..I am hoping for the reaction of " that can't be the same car" . And I got a good compliment from an SVX owner yesterday.. I got the paint ( I like the Krylon Tough on Rust stuff) from the auto parts store) and the one guy who works there has an SVX and we always talk Subarus in there...He brought it in yesterday and had to run to a customers house to test something ...anyway..turned out he was going the same direction as me so I wanted to play and he did too...Long story short..when I had to go back to the store for something I forgot ..he told me that he couldnt keep up with me until I got behind a slow car and wanted to know what I did to the XT6...I just said 24K mile motor and its a 5 spd...he would have caught me and passed me easily if we were on a long enough open area. But its still gives me alittle bragging rights right?
-
Exhaust Va-Va VOOM!!!!!
Are you taling before the resinator ?? On the straight pipe? Thats what it sounds like to me cause Bucky did the same thing once and I thought the same thing. Only cause the Cat is built into the Y pipe. I wish I had a pic of how I fixed mine for a few weeks until I had a new/used exhaust put on( 3 coat hangers:rolleyes: ) ...3 years later still going strong.

I don't mean to be a bother...
My Loyale had TOD..but usually TOD is at start up and stops completely after 5-10 minutes...The cause is a stuck or worn HLA... hydrolic lash adjuster... another cause is the mickey mouse gasket on the oil pup sucks in one of the "ears"...then there is also a faulty oil pump....the fixes can be as simple as running some seafoam on the crank case and frequent oil changes until the system is cleaned out...also changing out that oil pump gasket ( make it a mandatory fix when changing timing belts ..along with the water pump)...then the worst case is having to replace the HLAs...I cant help you on that but many other members have done this easily...yours sounds like a more extreme case simce it is basically continuous. Just re read your post....change that oil and run some Marvels mystery oil or seafoam with fresh oil...you can also replace some ( about a quart) with ATF fluid...run it for a couple days then change it again...make sure you get a good filter to...I forget the brand..i am sure someone will chime in...many have had problems with
