  1. you say you have a couple of dashes? will you part with one? a working one that is?
  2. where are you at on this project? please update us if you can.
  3. tried your vin site Dr.RX and it wouldn't come up on my computor. It's not a 56b but I'd be curios to see what it is condidered, so here it is JF2AC75B8FE243700 Check it out please. and I looked under at the diff, no LSD But it is a 3.7. What is the difficulty level of headgasket job on ea82t? The motor is tore down a bit, manifold off one valvecover off, and some misc. stuff, I was curios if it's worth doing?
  4. I'll check in to the ground issues. Let me know if you can find a new one, I've looked everywhere I can with no luck. Putting in a anolog dash in the physical sense is easy, I have it out about 5 times already. The speedo cable is there is it dfferent from anolog? and what senders are needed? My 2 most major concerns are gas and speedo, temp can be added aftermarket if necessary or can switch senders? Some one was talking major conversion, has it been completed yet?
  5. Kinda short notice but my kids car is plagued with the digi dash. I thought is was totally shot and it still may be but it displayed a issue that makes me curios. Okay so it has the everpresent squeal which Turbone says indicates spiking voltage from alternator. It also is dark as ever, well on occasion it will show very dim lights on tach, speedo, fuel and temp but the readings are useless, 8880 on tach, 1 on speedo and full bars on gas and temp. Well tonight it shows same things only brighter!! does this indicate anything that could resurect the dash?? I've swapped many an alt to no avail, they were all used so its very possible they were bad too..what does everyone think??? Pleeaaassee... help me out were trying to send her off and we need this vehicle to somewhat reliable.
  6. I think were leavin thurs mid morning be in town probably 10pm or so, then go straight to festival thurs night. Pillars playin and so are some other good ones. I'll try and send a note out wednesday night. If not I'll try and get on my mom's computor and contact you.
  7. We usually run the southern route back to S.F. I-80 over to I-29 north but some time We'll have to go the I-90 way and swing by your house! Hey are you goin down to the Colorado meet on the 18th of Sept?
  8. Hey guys are you going to be around over the labor day weekend? Me and my clan are plannin on head that way again. I was in S.F. last weekend to pick my kids back up from a mini vaction but it was a in and out run 1500 miles in two days! Anyways were plannin on going to the lifelight festival at the fair grounds. My wife will probably want to spend all the time there but we have family there also, so I'm sure we'll be doin some visiting too. But I was wantin to meet up some time with you guys. I've showed Katherine your guys rides in an attempt to show that women can get into subes as well, by the way I also plugged her in to your home page, thats where we're at in life too. Thats why the lifelight festival. Another reason too, my oldest is planning to jump out of the nest now that she has graduated, she originally went back to S.F a couple of weeks back to move, and when I came I actually had all her stuff packed in the van with me but upon arrival she wanted to come back for a couple weeks becaused she missed us. Well she had a job at Wendy's already, hopefully she can get it back. But to get to the point of all of this She has a sube! She bought it with grad money and a little coersion from Dad of course, 84 turbo coupe, and I thought after meeting you guys I could give her your # in case she had car issues. Figured you would know more about the car than any one in my family would. So what do you guys think? Are you up for it?
  9. that tells what is different, now tell me what is different about that part as compared to the other
  10. What are the differences between blocks on the turbo's and non-turbo's, tell me about ea81's and ea82's please.
  11. Okay so the guy I bought my brat from also has a wagon 80-81 I think, and it's got that little black box on top of the coil. This is for the ignition correct? well this part also seems to be a little spendy, is there, or can you swap in a newer disty and eliminate this thing seeing how newer cars do not have this?
  12. another kind of related question? this donor is a 4-door, what drive shaft is gonna work. I know the wagon d/r set up works in a brat with a hanger bearing mod, is 4-door same wheel base allowing for same mod or is there custom driveshaft length issues, and on to the one question I haven't asked if motor in donor (ea82t) is good what are the swap scenarios, 5spd d/r going in no matter what works I've got three of them.
  13. the spline your talking about is the end on hubside or tranny side? I guess thats why you say different tranny? then use LSD inners to convert regular diff to LSD diff? final result is a 5spd d/r set up with 3.9 ratio and a 3.9 lsd at the rear with rear disk conversion? The idea being that 3.9 is the preferred crawl gear set up?
  14. SWEEET THEN I'M LOOKIN FOR 56B!!! Sooooo just to tease my brain. The motor is tore down on this thing and could be put together. Now if I get this thing the body will probably go to the school for training so forget the idea of puttin the RX back into a car(thats if its an RX). HERES AN IDEA OR TWO!!! Can the complete drive train from front to rear be a compatible swap in my brat? or if motor bad (hope not it's a TURBO)Could tranny back to rear diff including rear disk work as well? I think this is a win win situation no matter how you put it together! What do you think? Turbo 5 spd D/R 3.7 lsd BRAT
  15. Its called the infamous hill holder, when on a hill you push in brake and clutch at same time then release brake, auxillary cable from clutch fork holds a valve that keeps the brakes locked up until you release clutch pedal to engage clutch and go on your way. Allows one on clutch and one on gas, with out playing footsie with brake and gas at same time or getting into the clutch slipping game.
  16. So do you think that this car may have an LSD?, its got a D/R spd, the rear is sunk down in the weeds so I haven't been able to look. That would mean a 5spd d/r tranny with 3.7 gearing, is this a possibility? :-\
  17. 56B eh? well thank you for the info, I'll look at it a little closer.
  18. Did they make 4-door RX's and does it need to say Rx to be an Rx? silly question I know but I honestly don't know. Heres why I ask, an individual wants to donate a 86 4-door, after looking at it, I see that it's a turbo 4WD 5spd D/R. I know thats not the indicator of an RX, but heres what I also notice, there used to be a spoiler on deck lid, the interior is that black and white checker(well it's not really symetrical but it looks similar)board insert on the seats, also got power everthing and sunroof, H-alloys and the little spoiler deely bob things at the front corner of rear wheel wells, and on the edge of rear door. Soooo.... do those things make it an RX?
  19. typically that old of a car warrants about 50-100 dollars because it is of little value other than the metal. They mat also do a percentage of retail like 10 percent or so.
  20. To get your mind off the wreck and back to subyville where you need to be, there is a turbowagon up here that has a weak motor, how's yours? it also needs a rear hatch, it works just got a big dent. I think it can be picked up for cheap, its a 5spd and I think it needs one wheel too. THis would be an Ideal candidate for the leftovers from your car with parts to spare, it's white and straight except for gate.Blue interior, good lookin car. Buy yours back and be drivin another one just like you had with in a days work!!
