  1. okay so an lsd is a nice thing to have, a locker would be ideal. Did subes come with lockers? who and where has aftermarket fo subes???:-\
  2. dont you mean composites to sealed beam because sealed beam lamps come in halogen style.
  3. Cool. Thanks for the info. where i'm at our school gets at least one new sube every three monthes to trash on. The students beat the death out of them and then they're crushed . it almost makes a guy cry but the good part is I can take anything I want thats not trashed. typically body and interior is pretty well done for but drive train is still intact.
  4. :rolleyes:anyhooo. what is the swap issues that associate the lsd? will they fit anything for the most part? or do you need to mod things?
  5. :slobber: Hey man your white brat is pretty cool , but I almost ruined my keyboard with the drool running out my mouth when I saw the green one. :slobber: that thing must fly. tell him to take pics of a four wheel smokeout that would be sooo cooool. and I'm sure it wouldn't have any prob doing either. :burnout: :burnout:
  6. were things things put on subes during the years of the hippie or what. No seriuosly I've seen alot of posts talkin bout em.and I'm curious as to how to identify. do they have a marking on the tag or some way to decifer the the #'s. What cars typically had the lsd,and by the way am I correct by calling it a Limited Slip Differential?
  7. Okay! so what would be best possible set up using same motor tranny,I can't afford tranny swap although 5 speed sounds nice. I thought some one posted clutch size on brat is 8 something and gl had 9.I know that a high performance clutch would be good also it's the money that I can't afford.(4 kids sucks about about every penny I got)
  8. whats the xt6 set up? and I know when replacing to do the whole 9 yards persay. I just wasn,t sure if I needed new flywheel also or if you just replaced the disc. please tell me more!!!!
  9. I,ve got an 85 brat ,clutch is starting to slip. I plan on putting in new of course:boohoo: What I need to know is ?? I heard you could use 9" off of 83 gl . IS THIS TRUE ? WHAT ALL DO I NEED? Do I need the complete kit + flywheel, just the disc and pressure plate?what? I,d really like the 9" conversion but I need the advise of those who have done it. :-\ all help is appreciated
  10. yes the switch is on yhe tranny, if you have a d/r there are two swiches . one for lights one for 4wd lo.
  11. Being a professional bodyman, it sounds like a steep estimate.Did you have full coverage?if so let the insurance total it (3500 on a 84 Brat repair should do it) THEN ASK FOR THE BUY BACK PRICE!! VERY IMPORTANT! LOOK UP FULL RETAIL VALUE OF BRAT. Buy back on that old of car should be around 10% of retail. IE: Retail 1995.00 ex.. buyback would be 195.00. then after all is settled buy car back use leftover money to buy new brat or other subaru(YOU WOULD BUY ANOTHER SUBARU WOULDN'T YOU) and part out wrecked brat or sell whole car here where it would live on with some one else who loves subarus. other option: go thru same buyback deal use leftover money and find some one who can fix it for less . put left over cash in bank and buy more subaru goodies. If this sounds confusing give me a call and I can explain insurance or repair procedures on a more personal level. e-mail for my #
  12. I caught your other post , sorry about the accident.I'm sure you did this for awhile:banghead: :boohoo: :boohoo: anyways ... hows the tailgate and left tail light and how much do you want for them?
  13. Hey that link you put up doesnt say how to remove the dome. I have a brat too, I,ve tinted the windows and that little light really sucks, please tell how too?
  14. Here are ideas that went thru my head ! two versions of the brat renewed version 1: 2door (of course) using wrx platform with turbo/or not lowered with 18's and body kit, hard cover on back,no rollbar. I CALL IT STREET BRAT VERSION 2: 2door again (duh) same platform 2" lift (aftermarket could have fun with this) Fender flares 15" or 16" tires ( for more versatility) rollbar with big spotters and a couple in the front with small pushbar I CALL IT RALLEY BRAT THATS WHAT THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE!! THEY WOULD BE SELLING THE CRAP OUT THEM :headbang:
  15. Did they put a newer style d/r tranny in any newer style subes?? I'd like to do a motor swap from a legacy2.2 but I dont want to give up D/R versatility.
  16. Hey Mcbrat , I like your 82, mines an 85 but it looks just the same ( same color and all ). only thing is mine is still plane old stock. I'd like mine to sit like yours. can you send me an e-mail of a little more detail in what all you did. Pleaseeee?!?!
  17. This weber stuff sounds fairly simple but what about all those vacumm lines that are on the stock unit ? looks very confusing:confused:
  18. to all out there that have done this, please tell what it all takes!! My brat is an 85 dual range , can you keep the tranny or do you swap everything? How about wiring ? is it traumatizing or just alot of wires. I think I've located a legacy with mpfi but tranny is out. Saw that Leg-a-brat when I first checked out the board, looked like it slipped right in. How about the suspension, will it swap over? 5 lug would be nice , wider variety of wheels ya know. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I really am enjoying the USMB. subarus rock
  19. whats the 20 washer long bolt senario?? seen a couple of carbs for less than 30 bucks dgav's I believe.
  20. I've seen a number of webers on e-bay and I'm curious(cause I don't know)? is there a certain model# of weber of that fits or does not fit on a subie (85 brat to be particular). They seemed pretty cheap, but I didn't want to buy one that wouldn't fit or hook up properly.
  21. is there a particular wheel that works better than others? foriegn- domestic. I too have a assortment of 6 lug wheels to choose from
  22. Hey guys !! I'm a new member also who just picked up a 85 brat. Smokin deal!! One spot of rust size of a quarter with a brand new clutch for 250$ Only catch was , had to put motor back in. Kid pulled motor to drop in clutch and lost interest. seats are bad and carb is getting a serious over haul, it sat in the rear of the bed exposed for TWO YEARS! DROPPED IT ALL IN AND IT PURRED!! Just wouldn't do anything when you gave it gas.. Anyways have been checkin this awsome site out every nite and was blown away with all the different mods done to such a little car.12" lift on a hatch WAY COOL!! I feel like alittle kid who found a piece of candy on the ground and then realized he was standing in the doorway of a candy store. I want my subaru to be just like yours!!
