  1. Hey, I just got off the phone with Tom Petter of TWE. He stated that they will not be able to get to doing the custom header and downpipe until 1.5 months (Darn...or was it the middle of next month?). The shop is neck deep in a racing program that is going on so they can not get into it at the moment. Tom is willing to get to it but the marketing guy 'Keith' is putting the racing program as a priority. Once they are able to have time to custom make the header and downpipe, expect 2 weeks before it is completed. We all know how things are. They could get to it next week or it may take 3 months due to circumstances. I'm all for it RIGHT NOW. In two months, I can't say where I'll be. My XT6 could possibly be running again. If I can get my hands on one of the two systems that were already made, IT'S MINE. And at least one of the systems was on an EA81T and it wasn't even made for it but yet the car 'flew'. Ahh well!

  3. If this is the final price for the parts, with no modifications needed to be done and it's completely bolt on with the stock turbo, count me in. Otherwise, some peeps are going to need to know what turbo the header and/or downpipe is supposed to be hooked up too and any other mods that's needed to be done to make all this come together. I remember last reading that the price would be higher if the stock turbo is to be used. I know I wouldn't want to stay with the stock turbo but still. People are still confused. I'll be trying to contact TWE throughout today to see what is up. Good luck with everything.
  4. How close is this place to you? Techmotion
  5. Yep, that is correct. I'm interested in knowing what modifications can be done to a carburated turbocharged Subaru. I just read a thread where it was said there weren't any carburated turbocharged scoobies but I have just recently been told differently. Since I haven't read any other information besides that thread on modifying a carburated turbocharged Subaru, can someone fill me in? I'm asking because looking through specs on this site as well as Joe Spitz's site, I didn't see any information as to a carburated turbocharged Subaru. I was told a few were made though. So...what's up?
  6. That's what I said....erm...um...mentally....yeah that's it. It just didn't come out typed right. Man, I suck with names.
  7. I'll be emailing you my wife's fax number or you can simply email it to me via er....email. It's springtime! Any #s?
  8. Pay some backwoodsy boys to Deliverance/Pulp Fiction his arse.
  9. Soooo, I may have been asleep or in hibernation but did you ever get those G-Tech times? How about 1/4 mile times and such? I'm trying to gather as much EA81T/EA82T info as possible. Thanks! *Bumpity*
  10. Well, my wife absolutely HATES my XT6 almost as much as I do now. She has taken to the OBS after it served me well. Dunno what to say. There isn't any balance on my part. Luckily I work shift work so I have a lot of 'side time' I can invest into the car if need be. Well.....wifelady is ecstatic to see XT6 down for the count (low compression all cylinders). I told her I'm looking to get an even older Subaru (mid 80's turbo) and all the happy faces went away. As long as I take her shopping and a few of her other hobbies, she leaves me alone. The smart remarks about how 'unreliable' my scoobies have been (within the last year or so) will continue. Whateva! :-p
  11. Thanks for posting Will! When Tom knows what the 'final' price will be for a complete system, I hope he lets you know. I'm talking about a final price where there is no monkeying around and it's as simple as one of us going under the car, taking the bolts off and adding the new part on. If (when) I get an EA81T or EA82T, I don't want any surprises and having to fiddle with the 'oh yeah, you need to modify, cut, resurface, change, *insert here* this and that. This isn't directed towards you Will but you are the middle man of sorts right now. Unless Tom doesn't mind an in-flow of calls all of a sudden. I want in. Even if I do not immediately have the money, I can get it soon enough even if the deal was today. I'm excited to say the least. I'm fed-up with my XT6. Need something that's going to produce/show some improvement when changes are made. Thanks again! L8Rs Oh BTW! Right along with this, I'd like to try and get a tranny cooler and higher stall ProTorque torque converter. I'm getting WAY ahead of myself though since I don't even have the (a) car yet.
  12. Well....what did the email say? Keeping us in suspense darn it!
  13. I think my XT6 engine is shot. Compression is low! How much would she charge for that?
  14. Bump! Need updated on this. How is it going? WJM, could you post the price of that cat also? I typed in Part# 15038 but came up with miscellaneous stuff. Now I feel like an idiot. I'm thinking of going for these parts. My XT6 is shot I believe after my recent excursion with ignition timing. Besides, I'm tired of trying to get power out of this thing.
  15. I could show you the shifts from 1st gear all they way up to 3rd gear so you can see exactly where the car is shifting. I know in Power Mode (which it was in on all dyno runs) my XT6 shifted at approximately 6200rpm but it didn't do this all the time. Also, redline is at 6500 in an XT6 auto. If your car shifted at 7k, then it was shifting past redline. Another thing, look at this dyno of me testing the ProECM Powerchip vs without having one. If the car shifted at 7k rpm, it would actually be slower. There's no power up there, hence me getting the cams. If your car still had power up there, perhaps mine is sick internally.
  16. You can see it all here: XT6 DeltaCams Dyno Runs It's a long post and I'm too lazy to post it all here. I lost a good deal of hp/torque with just installation. I had to add fuel and ignition and still couldn't match the torque of my stock cams. I gained a little on the top end. I wouldn't recommend it for AWD'ers but I asked for a cam grind where I'd gain some power after 5300rpm. That's what I got. Suggestions, comments, insults are all welcome. Well...maybe not the insults. I am posting the very last graph I posted from that site (there are several graphs with explanation of runs). For the vision impaired, the Red line is before the cams were installed, the Blue line was after the cams were installed and the Green line was after adding fuel and timing.
  17. This may sound like a stupid question but what 1.8ltr turbo'd Subarus will these parts fit? I'm particularly interested in the XT and RX turbos. Thanks! Oh, I don't own a 1.8ltr turbo BUT it doesn't mean I can't start collecting parts early.
  18. What's special about the XT6 throttle body? Is it any bigger than a stock 1.8ltr throttle body? I measured it at 2.75".
  19. Is there a situation where you can get so much blowby into the cam housing that it would be too much for the PCV valve to handle? I asked because I had a new PCV valve installed late last year and my oil dipstick tries to come out during full throttle. It wasn't a Subaru make PCV valve. I changed to a Subaru PCV valve and it is still doing it. The two vacuum hoses seem fine and they aren't that old (Still soft to the touch). The camshaft housing was recently put back together so no pluggage there. I'm lost! Don't mean to hijack or ride this thread but I've been dealing with this for quite some time now. It's starting to get annoying. mickytrus, I'd do a compression test just for reassurance that your compression is ok and rull it out in case anything may point to it.
  20. WJM, I just wanted to let you know that I haven't noticed any low end gain with the DeltaCams. Actually, there's a low end LOSS. I went to a dragstrip briefly last night. I didn't have time to stay long as I had to go to work today early. Anyway, I wanted to confirm what I was feeling on the street with the cam. The low end loss was significant enough to worsen my 60ft time from my normal 2.4 seconds to 2.7 seconds. I'm not sure if it had to do with the cams or the 'tight' cold air box I made before going to the strip. The night before when I was 'tweaking' my fuel pressure on the road, I didn't have a cold-air-box made and the front tires chirp during WOT from a dead stop. Even still, I do not notice any low end power gain nor top end gain. However, at the dragstrip I had a 1mph gain that I couldn't attain last year through many many dragstrip runs. That's not a lot. I need to get on a dyno to test out where my air/fuel ratio is at exactly and maybe play with the timing. My stock base timing is 20 degrees. I set it at 22 degrees before going to the track. I am running 93 octane. I'm noticing some of you are talking about timing being advanced substantially. Snowman, how substantial was/is your timing advance? I don't want to go overboard. I thought I was on the brink of going overboard if I went beyond 2-3 degrees advanced. Qman's running an extra 10 degrees of advanced. That's unheard of and SCARY. If our cars can handle this though and this is what works best with the cams, I'm willing to try anything. Just trying to do my homework before going to the dyno. If I can get away with 6-8 more degrees of timing advance, that'd be awesome.
  21. Idle Air Control (IAC) valve?
  22. Hello Eric, What exactly do you mean by the cams work awesome on your car? What improvements did you notice and where in your powerband? Someone 'slaved' for the past week or so to get some DeltaCams in my XT6 and I think all that's needed now is a timing adjustment to get the car started (I hope). I'll play with it tomorrow to see how to get it started. In the meantime, I'm just curious as to what to look for. I've already gotten plenty of responses but you can never hear enough. So what did you notice?
  23. I forgot to do this recently when checking my compression on an XT6. This is good to know even though 4 of my cylinders where almost right on the money. 1 was higher than normal (carbon build up I guess....higher compression..woohoo) and 1 was right on the verge of being out of factory specs. I don't know how fuel will affect your readings but I disconnected my fuel pump by unplugging it. I didn't want fuel pumping into the cylinders to affect my readings. I didn't see this mentioned...so....
