Noticed that the AT OIL Temp light blinks about 5 times (or so) right ater I start it up... Anyone know what it's telling me ?? Tranny seems to shift hard when cold, but smooths out when warm. The dealer I bought it from did a bunch of stuff to it before I bought it. New tires all the way around, brake and rotors all the way around, it has a new rad, so I would assume a Tranny flush/fill, but who knows...

Our 01 OBW was tough on tires too.... in 4 sets of tires, (~89K) most we got was 25k on 1 set... Seems that OEM tires are not lasting as long as they used to. My dad's last 2 Pontiac Vibe's needed tires at 19k. His current one(05 AWD) he took to the dealer for a quote on tires, they took 1 look at them and covered them under factory warranty, paid nothing for a set of GY Eagle RS May try the dealer, maybe they'll help ??

Tim, I too just got a 96 Imp OBW last Friday... It's great being back in a 2.2 again. We used to have a 93 Leg L Wagon and an 01 OBW, traded the 01 for a Pontiac Montana... Needed the room. The 93 had 205k on it with original clutch, was starting to slip, needed timing belt, etc. Had no place to change it out myself... So I sold it. Glad to be back behind the wheel of a Sube again. Can I take advantage of your offer of CarFax ? Here's the VIN JF1GF4858TH815594 eventhough I bought it, still like to know the history... PM me and I'll send you my e-mail address. Thanks in advance...

I know I've been gone awhile but what happened to FirstSubaruParts.com ? I googled them, they're still in Google, but it times out and goes nowhere... I've got a set of OEM wires in the garage from my 93 Legacy 2.2 wagon, ends in 0115, was looking to cross reference them to this Impreza 2.2... I found another site, and it only shows the 1.8l in 1996, no 2.2l. But the 97 2.2l is the same part number as what I have. Anyone have another site to check with ?

I traded our last Sube (01 OBW) in April last year for an 05 Pontiac Montana Minivan, and on Friday, I will have another. I just bought a 96 Impreza Outback Wagon. 4EAT, 2.2l, 112k runs great. Can't wait to be back behind the wheel of a Sube again. anyone got any tips, things to look out for, etc, please let me know.

Took a 93 Legacy L Wagon AWD Auto with 120k on it and on right turns heard a clankety clank on right turns when accelerating, both from stops and rolling. From my vantage point, I'm almost saying it's a clutch of some sort in the AWD in the rear. It is an Automatic with AWD, I owned a the same car but with 5MT, but this one has less miles on it. Wondering if anyone has experienced this, and what could it be, about how much to repair. I'm on the fence about buying, it's a good deal. Only $1850... Thanks in advance for any and all answers.

funny you ask this... Had an 01 OBW and found that it was too small with a 5 year old and an 8 month old. Traded it in late April for a Montana minivan. I like the Montana, great room, nice fold down rear seat, 8 passenger (3 captains in the 2nd row) and a nice ride. Getting the same gas mileage as the OBW. BUT I MISS IT TERRIBLY... But family first... I could have gone for the cargo box ont he top, but then no place to put the bikes when camping... Still got my Subaru bike rack though... Good luck to you on making your choice... I thought about the Toyota/Honda minivans, too expensive... The new 07 Hyundai looks decent (not seen in person)

Yesterday, a friends mom who has a 99 OBW Limited Automatic with 68k on it. She was driving down the road a few weeks ago and noticed that she wasn't going anymore. She looked down and the shifter moved from Drive into Neutral. She stopped and put it into drive and drove on. She's now noticed that when she puts in into drive normally, it will slide into Neutral without pushing the button, but when she puts it into 3, then into Drive, it won't slide into Neutral. Is this normal ?? My 01 OBW has a totally different shifter and my 93 was a 5 MT. If this isn't normal, has anyone had experienced this and what would, could be the fix. THANKS !!

We've got the Subaru branded bike rack. Parts guy said it was made by Yakima. Nice rack, hold the bikes nice and tight... We researched the other racks and found that the factory rack was the best price. We prevously had a Saris for 1 of our other cars, way too much $$ when it was all said an done. I think we paid $300 or so from the local dealer.

I got almost 60k out of a set of NAPA Ceramix Pads (Front). I only got 23k out of the OEM pads... Have a set of Parts Plus Ceramic pads on now. A little noisy on the first couple of hit in the AM, but nice afterwards. I think the rotors are Wagner Premium that I put on with these Parts PLus pads. The Part Plus pads I think are either Wagner's or Raybestos. Don't remember off the top of my head. The Parts PLus pads were $45, the NAPA were $75. The only reason I got them the first time, is my buddy worked there and wanted me to try them, so he gave them to me at his cost...

I know my 01 OBW is 105k, my old 93 was 60k, but I had over 100k on the timing belt when I sold it, and it was still in decent shape. The 2.2l are non-interference until 97. All 2.5l are interference engines. The difference being that if it snaps on an interference motor, big $$$ in replacing the valves, etc. Non-interference valves will be ok. I'd say since it is a 2.5l, it would be 105k

I just completed the same thing on my 01 OBW 2 weeks ago. I do have to say that the driver's side ranked in the difficult range. It was a little easier than my 94 GMC Sonoma 4.3l V6 I did.. Had to access 2 of the 3 driver's side plugs thru the wheel well. The other had the "driveshaft" for the steering wheel next to it. I did spend a little over an hour on the driver's side alone. I spent about 25 of those minutes looking for the rest of my tools. We moved in Feb and my tools were scattered all over the place... I specifically was looking for my 3/8's universal joint and my "wobble" extension. It worked nicely in this case. It allows about a 30-45 degree angle from the back side of whatever you have it connected to (socket or extension) Where were the tools ?? I found them in the last place I looked... Under the passenger seat, as they were in my "roadside" craftsman kit I have under there... All in all I do have to say that it was still worth it to not have to pay for the labor. I would definately do it again... Since I plan to own the car for quite awhile longer, I know I will...
