Tips on removal of rear ABS sensor?
hklaine replied to hklaine's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXand it worked afterward? after pooling PB Blaster around the sensor i'm able to spin it the slightest amount when hitting the metal plate on the backside (where the bolt goes through) with a hammer. unfortunately there is very little room to spin it or strike it due to the hub being in the way :-( i could pound on it from the outside but was afraid to do so. the collar that it sits is in pretty long so there is LOTS of surface area for it to bond! grrrr.... the long bolt that goes through the lateral link, after some serious PB Blaster soaking, came out pretty easily after hitting it a few times with the impact gun. i thought i was home free after that...

Tips on removal of rear ABS sensor?
hey all. i've got the rear hub in my '96 legacy (AWD/ABS) ready, or almost ready, to come out for a wheel bearing replacement. everything is disconnected with the exception of the ABS sensor. the bolt is out but the sensor itself seems pretty well seized in there. the hub is currently laying with the back of the sensor facing upward and i've sprayed some PB blaster around the edges hoping it will seep in. any tips/ideas? any idea where the closest connector along the cable is and whether it can be pulled though into the wheel well in a worst-case scenario? thanks!

'96 Legacy L Wagon - What's it Worth?
Hey Guys. We're buying a new car and I'll be getting a new hand-me-down so it looks like it's time to let my Legacy go. Wondering what I should ask for it. Asking prices on eBay and Craigslist are all over the board and I obviously can't tell what those people are actually getting for the cars. Very few "completed listings" on eBay and I don't know about the accuracy of those anyway. I think a local sale is the way to go one something like this anyway. '96 L Wagon EJ22 5MT 167k Very Clean Maintenance is up to date with records since 99k when I bought it Tires are good I'm located in NorthWest New Jersey. Suggestions - ?

Subaru issues temporary stop sale on all vehicles equipped with 2.5L turbo engine
did a quick search and didn't see this posted yet. April 7 Subaru of America has issued a stop sale on all models equipped with the company's 2.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The stop sale — which affects Forester, Legacy and Impreza vehicles equipped with the engine built in January and February — is due to a potential engine wear issue. According to the stop sale order issued to all U.S. Subaru dealers, in markets outside of the U.S., Subaru has received complaints of an engine knock in vehicles equipped with the 2.5L turbo engine. After investigating, Subaru determined that the engine noise was due to engine wear and has since discovered which batches of vehicles are at risk of being equipped with the faulty component. No U.S. models have been reported to have the problem, but Subaru wants to ensure it's not selling its customers faulty vehicles. The defect is said not to impact vehicles with the naturally aspirated version of the 2.5L or any other displacement engines.

hklaine replied to mcbrat's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI have only even found (new) the insert that someone linked above, never the entire part required to add the cupholder. Too lazy to source out a used on I guess, but I would imagine you can get one with a little motivation.

LPG Cars?
Were LPG (Liquefied petroleum gas) cars produced by Subaru? I saw a few in Prague last week, BK cars, that had an LPG fill point mounted just below the stock fuel door, which was in place. Just wondering if these were aftermarket or OEM. Never saw or heard of one before. edit: i guess there are some DIY conversion cars out there: http://www.sbautogas.co.uk/recent_conversions/pictures/subaru_legacy_outback/subaru%20outback.htm edit: strange. i searched the forum for "LPG" and this did not come up: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=82279 I didn't get any photos of the LPG cars, but here is a cool one I did snap:

Cam position sensor
hklaine replied to mwd's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXSame here, so I replaced the crank sensor and the cam sensor. Figured they are of the same age and electrically/mechanically similar if not identical so the other was bound to fail eventually too.

Sylvania sliverstar wow!!!!
hklaine replied to 95 super subbie's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI believe this only applies to the Sylvania-badged SilverStars. If you get the Osram-badged SilverStarts I believe they are NOT overdriven and do NOT have any blue coloring added to the glass. I realize this thread is titled "Sylvania sliverstar ... " but thought I would throw this out there if anyone was interested. -Heikki
