  1. One more dumb question: Are the coolant hoses correct or reversed? I have nothing to reference it with.
  2. The HLAs seemed ok; I went and grabbed a new head and slapped it on. Tomorrow I'll run a comp test again.
  3. You nailed it again! It just started pouring out of the exhaust valves. I wipe it dry and the combustion chamber is covered again in 15 or 20 seconds. Looks bad enough to produce 0 compression, I would think. Thanks again Dan. I'll probably run out to pnp and grab a head tomorrow. $50 w/o cam. Hopefully I can get out of this pretty cheap. So what, I just overheated those springs and they weakened and can't keep the valve closed anymore?
  4. 89 XT GL w/ 90-something Chevy Z71 rims and EJ frankenmotor
  5. Block 97 EJ25D Everthing else is 95 EJ22E Cometic HGs Delta Cams Worked one night, but not the next morning. It was running hot and probably detonated. Has spark and gas but no compression. I pulled the head and isn't apparently evident why there is no compression. Exhaust valves are much darker on 3 than 1.
  6. Oh no! Although it was fine last night when I shut it off, I started it up to discover that i'm down a cylinder. And its not the injector, plug, or spark.
  7. The good news is that the temp and pressure are real easy to hook up. Bad news is that it's running a bit hot. I just have the one EA electric fan in its normal spot running all the time (off switched 12V for the moment). I'm thinking that one should be good enough, but I still have trapped air pockets causing the hot condition. I don't know if I'll have to add the second fan.
  8. I remember the purple and green wires. I think I buried them in the loom because the labels came off. I think I found the Yellow/Green up on top in the wires that run along the top of the firewall. Yeah it seems I have some grounding to do. I get a bouncing tach(which I haven't hooked up yet BTW) when I use my turn signal. And my CEL from my EA is just barely illuminated for some reason. I haven't touched that either.
  9. So far, so good. I'm getting on it and the clutch is holding the franken-torque just fine. Exhaust sound is really growing on me. I'll have to do an exhaust audio clip. But i'm definately going to open it up to 2 1/4 and probably run two glasspacks inline in place of the stock resonator and muffler. Car pulls hard in all gears. Even 5th at 50mph. Reminds me a lot of my SVX that I converted to 5 spd. But it will only get better as the ECU gets everything dialed in. I'd say the whole swap was much easier than I thought it would be. Definately worth it!
  10. Now I remember. I thought it was smog stuff for the EA82. Found it in a bucket in the garage.
  11. Thanks, now I better go look for it. I can't figure out why I would have unplugged the hoses or removed the solenoids.
  12. I still can't find anything. The hoses are long enough to reach the battery.
  13. They are unplugged and I can't find from where. Many say they connect behind the drivers strut tower but I can't find anything anywhere under the hood. I unplugged them during my EJ swap and I'm wondering if they were connected to the motor that I pulled in some way. But I can't find anywhere to connect them on the motor either. Any ideas??
  14. Well, I'm driving the car around the neighborhood and all seems well. I haven't romped on it yet bc I can' find my knock sensor and my catback is about two feet long. Its loud, but sounds real good. I'll be running a 2 1/4" catback with a glasspack/bullet muffler for a resonator and then a muffler with mandrel bends in between. Is there a way to connect to the temp guage w/o going into the combination meter?
  15. Dan (Gloyale) just did this for my swap. I got it back quick and worked great.
  16. ALL RIGHT!!! I reread my post and noticed that the one time it started was when I released the key. So I moved my 12V switched power from the clock(DTOH!) to an unused plug under the hood and BINGO! Fired right up. Gotta run to work now, but I'll start on a make-shift exhaust and get this badboy out on the road soon. Big Thanks to Dan!
