You should do it, it's gonna be super fun plus I want to know how it turns out because I've been wanting to do this for a while and would love to see how it turns out first

If I were to go and find a 99 phase ll ej22 will it be direct plug and play?
-
It's burning a ton of oil spitting gas out the back and has a really bad rod knock.
It's a 5 speed has about 13000not sure about service or the timing belt
-
So I just got a 1999 forester L series with a very tired 2.5, I'm wondering if I can directly swap an ej22 into it. I searched for info on this swap but seem to only find info on this swap into legacys

I have a carbed 85 ea82 wagon, can I put an electric fuel pump in even though it's not fuel injected?
-
With my experience with him you have to call him a few times, he usually picks up around noon
-
From my experience they almost always have nice sound systems

I found a full set of beautiful jbl's at pnp, if you have one near you make sure to mainly check Hondas subarus or anything that has tinted windows

So installed some really nice speakers into my brat door, everything was sounding good, until I shut the door and my speakers basically embedded into my seat. DAMN YOU SOOB GODS I screamed WHY WOULD YOU DESIGN A SWEET CAR(truck?) LIKE THIS. Anyway after that I started looking for somewhere to mount the rest of my speakers and we just so happened to have the technology to mount them inside of the center dash directly below the stereo

Hit them with a rubber mallet

all the way up is 4wd engage, all the way to the ground is 2wd

Damn, that is really awesome, I was going to do the same thing but though it was to much to handle. Glad someone else could actually pull it off though

The real question is, have you ever driven an ej swapped ea car?

i have a friend down the streat from me that has a datsun pickup thats hes built really nice and very well everything has been made custom buy him for it since he has his own differential shop. it has a ford 351 motor in it which has been converted to propane which makes the motor run great since the octane is about 120 compared to the 87 or so of gas plus propane is cheap comepared to the price of gas i think he said he spent 5k or more on the motor. it has custom differentials on it the front one cost about 10k to make and the rear is about 3k take into consideration these have custom gearing, axels, caseing, ect. and that these have all the bells and whistles as people like to say. then he has the custom suspension setup which is off a 1ton truck plus his lift kit and bigger tires. he also made a custom tube bed along with a exo-skeliton, front and rear winch bumpers, and a bunch of other suff. i bet if you go to build it its 30k or over. he says if he kills it in the mud pit dont even bother pressing if i remember right the clutch since the differentials have such low gearinging just turn the ignition over and it keeps going.
Will you please post a picture of that??

That is one sexy looking brat, I've got a gen 2 brat I'm doing the same on, except I'm cramming an ej22 into it

Yeah I read that wrong, sorry about that

Except a Brat has the same running gear as an EA81 wagon, so of course it fits.
Stuff got changed when Subaru changes bodyshells.
I've heard of the brakes being interchangable between the models. Well at least fitting the bigger EA82 stuff onto an EA81.
no i had an ea82 wagon that had discs and drums that were redrilled to 6 lugs and then i swapped them onto my 85 brat,
Basically just make sure that everything is super tight with absolutely no play of any-kind(obviously)
-
Go for it I did it on my brat for quite some time because I was in the same predicament as you and didn't want to throw away all the hard work, nothing happened to me, just drive carefully
-
Got any ea81 2 inch lift kits gathering dust?
-
From what I've read and heard you cannot interchange the hubs they either stick to far out or not enough, can't quite remember
-
Do I also not need anything from the relay box under the hood?

Tire squeak Burnout Not intentional 91 loyale 4wd
in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...

I've only been able to burn my tires ( 16" rims 26" tires) with my almost 300,000 mile ea81 once, and it was me gunning it from a dead stop on the top of a Seattle hill trying not to slam into the smf that was tailgating me
