  1. Scott- I sent you an email. please be in touch with me.
  2. It sounds like a good offer, i just can't use another car. I am looking for a project or something collectable.
  3. No idea. I am going to put a clutch in it this summer and get it on the road, if nothing else to make it an easier sell. I think it is a forgone conclusion that it will be leaving my driveway. Will let you know when I want it gone. still willing to consider any trades.
  4. I have time to do either. I don't get it. I just don't have time to order on the web. Tex- I'll do that.
  5. Yes from a dealership. I need the parts tomorrow, so I don't have the time to get stuff on-line. How about we put it this way- has anybody ever here used aftermarket timing belt stuff, had it fail and regretted it? I suppose if a bunch of people on this board jumped up and said yes to that, it would influence my decision. Asking the people I know around where I am, nobody has had a problem with the cheaper parts.
  6. 97 outback 2.5 4 cam engine. The dealership stuff comes to $635 or I can get aftermarket stuff (from CarQuest, which is maybe just a notch below Napa, but not nearly as low end as Autozone)for $360. Those prices both include a waterpump. Is there any reason to spend the extra money? I have been told the aftermarket stuff is fine.
  7. Will need the PS within a month or so. I have another gen 1 I could lift that would probably be more apropriate, so I am interesed. Will talk to you soon. Maybe I go to Canada this summer in which case I'll stop by on the way back.
  8. I don't have the lights you want. I'll try to round up my gen 1 stuff and show you what I have but it might be as late as this weekend.
  9. 2 grand. that's a lot I know but that is what it's worth to me. plus if i get it driving I know i can get that for it locally. Good market for it here in CO. But i really don't want to sell it without a coupe or something lined up.
  10. I wouldn't part it out, it's too rare of a bird for that. Somebody is going to see this and offer up that sweet gen 1 coupe I just know it. but if it doesn't happen, I'll be fixing up this wagon. I should mention I can deal anywhere in the country, and if the deal is right, I will deliver this car to you and pick up yours.. Just sayin, MAKE ME AN OFFER!!! OCD- what do you need for parts, I have lots of gen 1 parts I want to get rid of.
  11. I have had this 79 wagon sitting in my driveway for a couple years now, and it's time to do something with it. I was planning on doing a nice resto with it, but one thing I know I might like more is gen 1 coupe. So I would be willing to trade for a coupe of similar awesomeness. This car is rust free and about as nice as you'll find as far as potential. It has two dents that are easy fixes. It also has a "Restored from Salvage" title for reasons unknown, but it does not appear to have been in anything more than a fender bender I had it hauled up from AZ. It needed a clutch when I got it, on top of that I have taken some parts from it. radiator shocks adriveshaft and a caliper, of and a side marker as well. I don't have the original front seats, but have black ones. I would trade this car as is and you haul it away or I can replace all of the above mentioned and make it something you could drive off in, it all depends on what sort of a deal i find here. We can also make a little money flow either direction depending on how the cars stack up next to each other. What I am looking for is a gen one coupe with very little to no rust, basically something with the same potential. I am also willing to entertain any trades other than an old coupe, even non-subaru, so don't be shy. I also like gen 2 coupes. here are pics, the dents are the closeup of the hood by the badge and on the cargo door.
  12. don't know about the 14s, but the caps for the 13s were the over the lug type (they had four holes for the lug studs) I could take a pic if you need. What do the centerholes measure on the 14 inch wheels?
  13. as far as the dash goes, I think I have done 4 removals and three installs. It is what I would call a pain in the rump roast, but give yourself a weekend and you can do a remove/replace. One thing that really helps is to do it with the windshield removed. So if you have a cracked windshield, take this as an opportunity to replace it. If you are actually going to do it, give me a shout and I'll scan some diagrams for you and I even have some pics with a dash removed so you can see the mounting points. If i recall correct, there are actully only 5 or 6 mounting points, but lots of other stuff to disconnect.
  14. Yeah old one didn't come out easy, I will get another seal, polish up the drive shaft with emery cloth and see what happens.
  15. Thanks Ivan, but I don't understand your post. Where is the vent, and what do you mean by " stake that rear seal in make sure right way round"?
  16. dual range 4 speed 4WD, sat outside for a couple years without i rear driveshaft in it. When I got it going again, driveshaft was hard to get in, rusty teeth and all. It leaked pretty bad so I replaced the rear oil seal, driveshaft slides right on now, Still leaks. The oil seal went on nice and easy and sits flush. I was able to press it in with my fingers, didn't need to tap it in at all. Do I get another seal and try again or is something else going on?
  17. What all do i need to grab from the donor car? Engine crossmember different? What about steering column (upper)?
  18. I checked the 80 FSM again and you are correct it is white with red stripe.
  19. The FSM has the black w/ white stripe marked IG, I believe if you read that cover sheet for the charging system it is the same circuit that runs through the IG switch that goes to the warning light.
  20. His is an early gen 2 model with the external VR.
  21. Here is a diagram of the charging system from the 1980 FSM. You should find this useful. It's a fairly good quality scan, you should be able to blow it up.
