  1. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2153889 It is the cruise control. That nasioc forum has an incredibly detailed discussion about that.
  2. Also, just to make sure there isn't any confusion, the car does not have fog lights. The brighton was the cheapest version. I wanna install them though, and I'm trying to use this wire with a button, if possible.
  3. It is a 96 legacy brighton 5 speed wagon. It doesn't have cruise control on the dash, however, the plug/wire in question is on the right hand side of the column. I will take a look at the wires in the morning. Thanks for the replies.
  4. Change the fuel filter, that should take care of the uphill chugging. Also, I don't know if you have given it a tune up since you bought it, but new spark plugs and wires will make a big difference if yours are old and ratty looking. Change the air filter too. Performing these simple and obvious general maintenance tasks will increase your performance and gas mileage. Make sure you buy NGK spark plugs and OEM wires. The motor was designed around the spark plug and wires, so use the proper parts. And yes, they will cost more than the cheapest thing you could possibly buy.
  5. I just replaced the Instrument cluster back lights on my 96 Legacy Brighton. The standard bulb size is a 158. If you wanna go with a colored LED the size is 194. I bought the Pilot Automotive 194 LED's at Auto Zone because they were identical in price to the LED's on Superbrightled.com, and I could install them right then. They work well, and they function with my vehicle's stock dim setting (located on the turn signal) as well. There were four 158/194 bulbs, as well as one smaller bulb on my Brighton, which sits at approximately "4 o'clock" behind the speedometer. It is noticeably smaller than the 158/194, and it has T 6.5 printed right next to it on the factory green electrical circuit "board". (there will most likely be 2 of the smaller bulbs on your vehicle if you have a tachometer, or RPM gauge) According to Superbrightled.com this little "T 6.5" bulb is a 74, and they just happen to make an LED replacement (available in 5 colors) that slips right in to the stock "wedge" holder that screws in to the back of the instrument cluster for the whopping price of $2.95. I am ordering mine from them because no one within 25 miles of me had any of these. And since I am going to have to pay for shipping, I might as well order some new reverse lights to help me out with the tinted windows at night, and maybe red lights for my glove compartment and dome light. Gotta get my money's worth! Hopefully this provides some insight.
  6. Thanks for reading! I replaced the light bulbs in my instrument cluster (speedometer) today, and I noticed a wire harness (male end) pretty much right next to my rear defrost button, which is located on the dash just to the right of the ignition. It appears to be the same size and type of harness plug that the rear defrost uses, however, it is a yellow-brownish color, rather than white like the defrost. (I can only assume that was done purposely to be able to tell which was which) There is no button on the dash besides the rear defrost, and I was unable to find a factory service manual anywhere locally. Does anyone happen to have an e copy of the wiring diagram, or even know off the top of their head what this might have once powered, or can power? If possible, I would like to utilize the plug by adding a switch on the dash, which would control the fog lights I have yet to install.
