  1. I built a offroad buggy from a 76 Datsun pickup it was striped of body and mid engine ,it was 2 wheel drive with stock auto transmision , befor I built it I thought wow I wish this was a stick instead of a auto trans. well we got it done put some oversize tires on it , it went awesome even took it to the sand dunes, if it was me and I had a automatic subie I would lift it and put some tires on it I wouldnt go any bigger the 26-27" on the tires , its somewhat under powered but that also saves you from braking stuff , I would definatly do it if my wife was excited about it ,the autos neet cause you just have a "GO" petal and a "STOP" petal , and running offroad its simpler , some of the serious offroad rigs have automatics, you might consider a added trans oil cooler if it builds up to much heat, keep us informed on your progress. We have been thinking about hitting the Dunes in Sandlake (Near Tillimook) Oregon not sure the Date After the July Meet sometime , I would be taking my 88 Wagon and the family, probably stay over night at Pacific city on hwy 101 or maybe at the dunes Sandlake is on the Ocean you can drive on the Beach for over 1 mile, theres plenty of challenging Hills last time we went took my Sandrail powered by a Suzuki swift , have even took a modified Geo metro, looking for others who would like to take there Sewbies out in the sand its always nice to have others with you for support especially out in the dunes Scott,

  6. While we our on the subject of super swamper I am looking to buy a set , Questions the different choices Bias ply , Radial, TSL, SX etc. whats the best for offroad? whats the advantage or disadvantage of each style? thanks SJR

  8. on the rear diff what can be done ? can it be tilted for greater ground clearance on the front near the u-joint , I understand there is a problem with oil , what works how far can you tilt it ,what modifications can be done to overcome this thanks SJR
  9. this is in reference to the angle of diff correct? now saw if I wanted to angle the diff for clearance is there any modifications you could make , maybe running more oil? maybe replacing the front bearing with a sealed unit?, maybe some how setting up a oiler to feed that front bearing? now this is all under the asumption that its the front bearing that will give am I right? thanks all SJR

  11. so on the kit(byb) there is 1`` suspension lift , on your mods 1.5`` is max suspension lift and both tend to eat axles ,do tire size eat more axle of not
  12. I have read were a few of you have added spacers or brackets to the struts and shocks , I have a few Questions whats the max you can go on these shims what has proven to work or to fail on these mods thanks SJR
  13. is this a stock or after market add on ? I like that they will out preform a single weber as I would like to put 2 stock carbs (easy to get) on a offroad rig probably take 2 manifolds and chop them up and weld up a duel mount for a prototype SJR
  14. This is a daily driver I was looking for reliability ,Gas mileage ,drivability on long trips. Plans for bigger tires and a transfercase will probably be on the next wagon converted to a Brat style Truck for more extreame wheelin:brow: SJR

  17. I have a 85 carbed engine in my 88 gl wagon wanted to put 2 carbs on it , posibly 2 stock ones,anyone doing that SJR
  18. Bolt Report contacted Tacoma Screw , Empire Bolt , Fastenal. and the local guys . No luck on any , I know the 10mm ones exist because I have a few from past projects , they our the bolts that held a motorcycle engine into the frame, I even have some longer then I need SJR
  19. Thats just up the road from my place if you meet on a friday or saturday I could be there , it would be nice to plan something say end of May begining June on a Sat I will have the creature ready by then Scott
  20. Having no luck on all the fastener places, did pick up a second wagon for the engine got it running and took it out in the woods had a blast in stock form it goes better them my Bronco. got it stuck and unstuck even modified the fender on a tree SJR
  21. this is for a 6" lift , the metric size is 250 x 12 x 1.25 , 190 x 12 1.25, 190 x 10 x 1.25 SJR
  22. I have been looking for long bolts , where is a good source to get them? I need 12mm x 1.25 @ 10" long and 7 1/2 ", also 10mm x 1.25 @ 7 1/2" long thank you Scott
