  1. hey guys ive just finished my 5spd swap on my outback... now it feels like the tras doesnt have AWD... today is raining here in the NE, when i tried to take off from a stop light the front wheels were spinning and no traction to the rear.... is there something wrong with this trans? there is no torque bind
  2. the bolts were the same for the rear part of the crossmember, the front ones i had to look for new 17mm bolts.... thank god i have countless cans of subaru bolts lol did u end up getting the p1101 code?
  3. ok I'm not quite done yet I have a p1101 cel does anyone know how to get rid of this code? it's the neutral switch malfunction.... do I have to run a wire from somewhere to one if the ecu pins?
  4. tru true... i dont have any problems as of right now but i still have a cel of p1100... i didnt have anyone to take pics for me but i'll do a write up of the steps, problems ive encountered and parts i needed to get from the dealer... i can say one thing, if you drop the engine and trans married at once its a hell of alot easier... ive done many autos in the past but this is the easiest one i have ever done. info to come...
  5. I think I won't have too much problem with the cel... I have a 5spd ecu but I'm not there quite yet I have a few things to button up today and hopefully fire it up... I guess tomorrow will be a junk yard hopping day to find that shifter rod
  6. ahhhh evrything went well except that the person who got me the 5spd swap kit gave me the wrong shifter rod... i need a new correct one anyone has one?
  7. hey guys and gals so ive created some b...s and started my 5spd swap prep... all parts have been collected and clutch kit will arrive on monday... ill keep yall informed how it goes and im sure im gonna have tons of questions ill place pics as soon as i get it all apart
  8. actually I know they are jdm... it's in brazil, south America.... subaru started selling legacies there in 1991 with the ej18 and ej20 so that means all the NA ej20s up to 98 are non interference that's what I though thanks guys btw all the AWDs and dual range!!! yummy I'm looking into a 96 legacy wagon gx looks good but again I need to be there to buy it so it's gonna have to wait till I go see my mom
  9. even the ones from the 90s? I thought those were based on the ej22
  10. so im buying a subaru in another country so i have a car there when i go there... are the JDM EJ20 from 94 to 98 non-interference?
  11. doh! it started doing it again today.... im gonna replace the ecu next and see if it gets better.... compression checked in all 4 cyl... im running out of options
  12. ok this is the second day after replacing the intake manifold gaskets and still no sgn of misfire when starting cold or warm
  13. I just replaced the intake gaskets lets see what happens I'll keep everyone informed
  14. no cel... it misfires then if pu rev it up for a bit it stops as it goes back down to idle
  15. it happens after I drive, park and let it cool down a bit then when I try I start it misfires for about 20 seconds or so or until I step on the gas reving it up
  16. ok i changed the CTS and still doing it now... can a intake manifold gasket do this?
  17. o2 and knock wouldnt have a misfire symptom it could run a bit lean or rich but not misfire like it is now how about the AIC?
  18. it usually happens when i first start in the am or after a drive it misfires for about 45 seconds and it idles fine now i have already replaced the following: plugs, wires, coil, ignitor, injectors, fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump im out of options
  19. i am toying with the idea of a 5spd swap... i have 2 working autos but the reality is that they are more trouble than it is worth... i hve done a search here my didnt come up with anything substantial i need wiring info so i dont get a CEL on after the swap, ABS wiring info and any helpful tips this is being done to a 97 outback, mind that i already have matching rear diffs all i need is to get a 4.11 manual trans any info is much appreciated thanks
  20. thanks... I'm gonna have lots of taupe body parts for your wagon, same color 8)
