  1. that doesn't sound so bad. but one more question.. are the motor mounts in the same place for the ea81 and ea82 engines? i don't know how to weld yet so i can't move them.
  2. no it sucks. but i think thats how to do it..but for side windows (i.e. removeable) maybe you can just get different ones cheap at a junkyard. i don't know if theres any near you but in pennsylavania theres one that will sell windows for i think 10 bucks each or something like that, but you have to find the car and get them yourself. if you got a place like that near you it might be worth it, then you'll have less windows to scrape the tint off.
  3. dont forget the simple things...maybe if its that cold and there's moisture in your fuel then maybe it froze somewhere in the line. happened to me before..but it has to be pretty friggin cold for that. but try some drygas.. might help.
  4. how does it work? seems to me like putting something inside the intake tube would restrict the airflow, wouldn't it? and even if it speeds up the air and creates a vacuum, it still couldn't get MORE air in. right? but i guess i don't know everything so maybe somehow....
  5. everyone else is talking about the starter solenoid clicking but if you're talking about the same problem i had, its not the starter solenoid..the clicking sound comes from under the dash, just below and to the left of the radio, not under the hood. it was an intermittent problem that i thought i fixed several times. it would only seem to occur if i was running late for work or something.. then i put a starter button in and no problems after that.
  6. i have a 91 loyale with the same problem (turn the key click click click)...sometimes mine would start if you just held the key in the start position for about 30 or more seconds, but not always...but i never figured it out because i'm lazy and figured out a way to work around it. i just put in a starter button in one of the unused switch panels to the left of the steering wheel. it works fine after that. just turn it "on" with the key, push the button...starts every time. make sure to use a fuse in the wiring so you don't start a fire though. 'cause that would suck.
  7. i don't know much about the ea81 engines (yet!) but i found a 1983 brat in my area (NYC) that the guy says it MAY need engine work. i assume by "may" he really means "does"...but if its alot of work i would just as soon put an ea82 SPFI engine in but how hard is the swap? it would probably be easier to get an ea82 engine around here. most of the cheap subarus around here are late 80s early 90s GL DL or loyale models... the brat has a 4 speed manual (d/r i guess but i haven't seen it yet). and would it make any difference if the donor car was auto or manual or 4wd or fwd? i can't weld either -not yet anyway-- so i also need to know if the motor mounts are in the same places.
