What's This Wire Attached To My Engine???
Andyjo replied to Sonicfrog's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXahhh the wonders of the engine block heater i wouldn't try to take that out if i were you... because to get it in there in the 1st place is a pain in the arse (as per the original coolant plug not coming out.) if you plan on using it, you may want to clean out the contacts on the plug part (attached to the motor), and then plug it in, and rout the wire up through, and never un-plug it again... so you don't get crap built up in the connection. Block heaters are awesome for arctic weather, and your car will thank you for it

Better pics/diagrams than owner's manual for 2006 Outback?
Andyjo replied to Woodpecker's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXhttp://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1540 sorry for the cross-forum referance, but that pdf will walk you right through it... it is for the turbo model, but everything should be in the same place... pretty much. i've found that the drain plug is sort of angled wierd on the newer models... whereas in the older ones it was just right there, and you could see what you're doing...

Roof Rails
Andyjo replied to AWD Yahoo's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI'm guessing you're going to have to drill some hole for the OEM rack... the mounts may already be under the headliner already, pull it down a bit, and see if there's any extra bracing where the rack would bolt down.

Replaced heads and now no idle and reves on it's own

Turbo Outbacks?
Andyjo replied to FSRBIKER's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI've actually found that high grade gas isn't that much worse $$ wise... we figured it out when we drove out to IL a few weekends ago... 1800 miles... was only $18.00 more using high octane vs 87

Turbo Outbacks?
Andyjo replied to FSRBIKER's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXone thing to remember on the $$ issues... they do require a MINIMUM of 91 octane.... it's not that much more... but it still hurts when you fill up :-\

How to get 40+ amps on the roof.....
Andyjo replied to Andyjo's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXyeah... i think i might still go w/ the gasket in the trunk... the whole drilling a hole in the roof thing scares me... especially because i'll most likely sell it in a few years...

Turbo Outbacks?
Andyjo replied to FSRBIKER's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXalot i love the 5spd, sort of wish it had a 6... but i can deal with th 5... never tried the 5eat though, but i have driven an 07 legacy sedan w/ the sport shifter... not nearly as fun As for the actual clutch... there's not alot of room, it's pretty sporty and more of an on/off if you're used to driving any other car :-p how much more get-up-and-go..... well.. let's just say that i have NEVER put my foot all the way to the floor before in the OBXT, because i was scared for my life... way to fast... whereas in the 97 obs... the EJ22 had some nut.. but.. the pedel went to the floor alot, and stayed there.... i believe one of the ways to describe it was "once you hit 3000 RPM's... it's like taking off an aircraft carrier" It's a whole new beast... quite a bit heavier, but alot more nut to make up for it. The suspension is also a little soft.. more of a lazyboy ride, and alot of bodyroll than the OBS... but you can fix that with some coilovers... As per power, it's already rediculous... but... if you want a little more nut, you can get an accessport relitivly cheap, and run stage 1, with no hardware modifications needed... and run up to 285hp, 305ft-lbs with the 91oct fuel map, and 290hp, 205ft-lbs w/ the 93oct fuel map.. they also bring the peak torque back to ~ 3000rpm, opposed to the 3500-4000 stock. but yeah, a TON more power and a metric crapload more torque if you can, take one for a test drive, get on a highway on ramp, and just stomp on it.... it'll scare you

Driving light help please
Andyjo replied to robb1's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXyou can get to the back of the light, if you crawl under it, and remove the plastic piece of trip that's connected to the bumper cover and to some other plastic pieces i think. from behind the light you should be able to unscrew it, and pop it right out, and then you can change the bulbs as you please.

How to get 40+ amps on the roof.....
Andyjo replied to Andyjo's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXSoo.... i think i'm going to go w/ scooby's method of mounting the lights, drilling up into the roof rack, and flush mounting a connector. here's what she looks like: and w/ the blacked out covers It's getting there.. i already ran a wire from under the roof rack down to the fuse box... just have to play electrician a little more this week
