Hi Guys, Pulling an engine from an 03 Forester with MT. Getting close.... I'm trying to to take out the torque converter bolts. The FSM and other sources indicate indicate you do this by removing rubber cover under the intake. It also says there are 4 12mm bolts to remove. What I find is 8 (or 9) bolts that are star shape. What gives? I removed the starter and I see normal bolts there? Any help is appreciated. BTW... first time I have pulled an engine if it wasn't obvious. Tap

I bought my baja 2 years ago with 152k on it. I have since put 50k trouble free miles on it. Great car! They seem to hold their value more than legacy wagons or sedans since there are less of them around. A quick check on auto trade shows them from $6 to $15,000. Personally I would stay away from a turbo if I were you. I may be selling mine if you are interested in a high miles, well maintained one at a good price. Tapper

Can be done in one day (6- 10 hours) with you and a helper. You need a good jack to support and help align it. Tap

Newbaru-XT strut conversion Q's
tappermanor replied to Racerfab's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
bulwnkl is correct. Rear are alot easy to come by. For the fronts you need them from an XT (not XT6 or any other subaru, unless of course you want to modify things) I happen to have a set of fronts from an XT that I will sell cheap. Its all there:mounts, springs and inner struts. They are a little rusty and I don't guaretee the inner strut parts because they have been stored a while. The mounts and spring are fine. $25 ea plus shipping Send me a PM if interested. BTW, getting rid of the air suspension is a good move. It is so problematic. -

But he has conventional springs. If someone has air ride and wanted to add a "candian model" type low/high switch, check this thread: http://xt6.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3885 I personally have not tried it yet. Tap -

You could put a lift kit in it! scroll to bottom http://ozified.com/BYB%20lifted%20Subes%202.htm http://www.ozified.com/liftkits.htm The contact is a member of the board! I would like to do this to one of mine! in my spare time :-\ Tapper -
You don't mean air suspension, I don't think. The link you gave for ebay is just a traditional gas strut. Air suspension, means a compressor, tank, airbag shocks, computer, ect., that were available on suby XTS, XT6s and wagons, perhaps more? Anyway, those ebay ones should be fine. Tapper

No snow vermont yet. Could be anytime! -
Nice to meet some suby folks. Thanks for being so welcoming. Little Rosie (1 1/2 yrs) was a challange but overall she had a good trip. (except for that nosedive into the parking lot ) I had a smooth ride home, only took 2.5 hours. Paul, thanks for showing me the brat. Good luck with it. That will be real cool, a brat with a plow! My search continues. Tapper
