  1. Will the STi throttlebody from a ver.7/8 STi fit on a 97 Legacy bolt on? or very close?
  2. Will the EJ20 twin turbo fit in a 97 Legacy? I found one for a good price and I'm toying with the idea about buying it.
  3. I got my Legacy 4 years ago (in july). Its a 1997 automatic GT and it has 77,000 miles on it. Since I had it I never change the tranny oil and filter. I put around 30,000 miles on it. I doubt it was changed before I got it. What is the best oil and filter for it? and where can I get them online? I have a slight vibration, Subaru told me it might be the rear tans axle box or something like that. I forgot what he said. Maybe someone else will know what it is.
  4. I had a chatter noise when I took sharp turns, like pulling in parking spots and crap like that. Both front axles were bad, Subaru tried to screw me after a week after I bought it and they didnt want tp replace it. They must have greased up the whole front end. So I brought my argument to the owner and he had both axles replaced. After that nothing but nice smooth turning.
  5. I know this must have been discussed many times on here. I'm sure it will be discussed many time after too. My next oil change (next week) I'm going to use Mobil One synthetic oil. I hear that synthetic is thin compared to dyno. Should I move up to a 10w from a 5w just to make sure nothing leaks?
  6. At least you guys get some sort of reading. I have to wrestle with it because it seems to bind somewhere halfway down. Im sure they all arent like this, if so NICE DESIGN! Should I just go out and buy a new dipstick assembly?
  7. So if I get the CAI and I dont have to worry about water is that still bad??
  8. Subie Gal, I don't have to worry about 4" mud puddles around here. All streets dont really rain bad enough around here that the streets get flooded. How bad does it kill performance? I will hold off on the CAI. I want and need some low end torque. I heard headers and full exhaust will kill my low end torque, so Im in a cross road.
  9. Well I have the silencer in the fender already out, and I have a cone filter+MAF adaptor. I dont know if I got any power but it amkes the exhaust sound a little deeper when I punch it. Also when its at idle it has a sweet humming sound. I'm thinking of getting a CAI by Injen next month.
  10. I read it somewhere to unscrew the cap to relieve pressure in the gas tank. So I did it and it works.
  11. I've done what Kevin has done, but I unscrewed the gas cap. I was pretty much set.
  12. Last thread of the day I promise! I have a 97 Legacy GT sedan....(auto:banghead: ). The car is pretty much stock on engine performance. I have H&R springs, KYB GR-2 struts, Cusco lower arm brace, Super pro steering rack bushings, And I have to install my Catback from a 2004 STi. Do any of you have any tips and or ideas what I should do next? What would you do if you had this car? I just want some ideas, because there is SO much stuff that I want to get.
  13. Should I go full synthetic transmission oil?? I was thinking on switching synthetic on both my engine and tranny, Any input?
  14. I just got in power steering bushing from super pro!! woohooo!.......but...I dont know where or how to install them:confused: Can anybody give me help? thanks
  15. I agree with Chip, Teagues auto is a sweet place to get parts, that where I get most of my parts. Dale Teague is a great guy to do business with. Also another place that my friend goes to for his STi is www.xxtuning.com This place is the balls. They do everything and anything, And I will be doing a dyno pull there to see what my car runs stock. Anyway check out the website, but you will be better off CALLING them, trust me
  16. A friend of mine has a STi, and some of the mods he has done is. Ported wastegate, GT spec headers, catless straight pipe, and HKS exhaust. I think thats about it for mods. The rest is sound and cosmetics. The car is VERY fast, when he runs 114 octane he sometimes shoots out flames from the exhaust.
  17. I asked this same question. I have a 97 GT, I was told yes, I just dont know if I want to go from a 2.5 to a 2.0. I like have the bigger engine.
  18. I want to go with a style that looks stock. Like the same pattern as what the GT has already. Im having a problem finding anything that has the right offset and bolt pattern. Any ideas???
  19. What if I order a Stomung mid-pipe for my car? Will I just need to tweak the muffler to fit?
  20. I just bought a STi cat-back from my friend for $100. Its off of his 2004 STi:slobber: . Does anyone know if I can bolt it on a 97 Legacy Sedan? Or do i need to custom bend the mid pipe and/or do some welding??
