Factory stripes for Outback..replaceable?

Featured Replies

can these be bought and replaced? This and some new rims will make my 96 OB look really good again

Yes they are as i just got a set last month. The ones with the gold stripes are pricey (107), but all are available. you wont find them on line listed, as they list the individual peices. they are only available as a set.

I got mine from Liberty Subaru in NJ (they ship) 201-261-7495

I always wondered a few things - and by now I've scrapped enough that I should have investigated but I always forget.

What is decal and what is paint of the silver/grey stuff - especially on the bottoms of the doors.

Around here all almost all the rear wheel well's have the jap rust. I have a guy who can fix them but have always stayed away from having it fixed on OB's. Any comments of redoing the lip around the wheel well with decal or paint?

Lastly - there are now Vinyl shops in every other garage it seems. Anyone tried having any of this made?

I have the wheel rust which i am going to fix this fall, hence why i got the stripe.

Decal is above the door trim, paint is below it. I just looked at my decals to find out.

Its most likely cheaper to buy them then to have them made.

Thanks for looking. I thought there were 2 shades on the doors and I figured part was paint, part vinyl decal.

I could have had 20 of these fixed last year, and probably 10 fixed this year.

If I keep doing Subaru's perhaps I'll buy a set and take them to a vinyl shop to see if they think they can reproduce them cost effectively.

What came with your set - all the silver/grey decals for above the rub strip on the doors, and all the silver/grey area on the fenders?

yes, along with the roof stripes (Blu is a Limited). I just looked at Blu to see how the stripes are applied, and that slight color shift is actually the vinyl stripe.

Now i need a cheap heatgun.

If I'm not mistaken (I looked the other day)....above the center door molding, there is grey PAINT...maybe 1/2"-3/4"?...above that is the tape

Thanks NIP....if mone are $100, that would be fine...it will make it look $1000 better...old "Green" will look mighty sharp

Yeah, I want to get my spot fixed too...maybe I'll get a price...we can compare

Hey NIP...did you give up on the idea of intalling a new heater in your seats....?was hoping you would be the guinea pig and take LOTS of pics and instuctions:banana:...go Nipper

Well I am still going to try to fix my seat heaters, but with moms health crisses, my timing is way off. I dont have a garage And blu needs:

Fix cancer

Road trip (take mom to see her great grandchildren in South Dakota. Mom is 80 and never has seen her Great grandkids)

Finish wiring the sports lights

Seat heaters.

I dont dare do anything to take blu apart untill Mom sees the Dr on the 8th, to make sure is all OK. So I have lost three weeks :( And winter is going to come hard and fast this year I think.

If you get those made, I will take a few sets.

just ordered a set from 1st subaru...$52 per side...hope the color match is cloase to perfect as I onl plan on replacing a few pieces

I suspect I will need a heat gun

Anyone done this b4?

Tom,

What I would need in particular is the striped for a rear wheel well side.

Then I'd have a pattern and the color to take and see about getting some made.

So if anyone has a side they aren't using for around the wheel well in particuler that they could sell at a fair price or loan to me for a few weeks I could get an answer.

At this time it just doesn't make sense for me to buy a set to use as a pattern. Infact the only car I currently had that could have used this repair sold last night. But I'd expect I'll see more.

Would be one of those things that would be nice to know for the future and if other may be interested that's even more incentive. Usually they like to cut full sheets. The place I usually use does a lot of emergency vehicles so they are used to the long stripes. Infact they are used to installing them as well which may be an option for me.

Hi ... my 96 Impreza is in the body shop this week for rust repair at the rear quarters by the bumper attachment point . What I was wondering is there different color stripes on the outback available , such as stripes and bottom of doors being of the gold color?

My car is black with gold colored interior and now is the time to paint it.. And does any one have pics of theirs ? I know of a shop that could make the stripes , but I need to show them a good picture.

Thanks

Dave, exaclty how long do you need these for. I can loan you my stripes, but i need the rear quarter stripes rather quickly returned, the rest can be held for a color match.
