cd player in 2005 outback

Featured Replies

Hi any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have 2005 subaru with a six disc factory changer. The cd player stopped working but the stero comes on. When I press cd it reads disc 5 and then I presss eject and it says ejecting all discs but nothing happesn.

I went to the deal and they said tehy could take it out for 120 but may not fix it.

Are there any other suggestions?

hit it in a way that causes no physical damage or blow some compressed air via cd gap.

now that's an idea!^^^^^I like it.

Either way. You could also try simply removing it yourself and spraying everything down with electronic or contact cleaner and seeing if it works.

My GF's '07 6 disc changer (clarion I was told) did the same thing. Dealer replaced it under warantee. Seems like it's a common failure on these.

There's rarely much you can do. There are companies that repair them. Repairs run $150-$400 or so.

Simpler, and cheaper usually, to buy a used one, but that sounds like a bad option on something prone to fail anyway.

hitting it worked. Genius idea!

Enter the FIST!!!

I have an Alpine in dash unit in my Lincoln that gets temperamental every now and then. Usually a good smack on the dash knocks some sense into it.
