STi/WRX exhaust on a 91 Legacy?

Featured Replies

can it fit? what years?

would a WRX Header bolt up to a EJ22?

I was hoping I might be able to use a WRX header with a STi exhaust.

So what do you suggest I do? what does everyone else do for exhaust?

On a 91 legacy? Use the stock parts. Nothing you do will add power just noise.

Harsh.

I would bet you get a bit more performance if you free up the exhaust flow with some high flow cats. Not much, but if done right there will be some.

I would reccomend visiting a pro exhaust shop though to have some one fabricate you something. It'll cost you, but it'll fit right and work well. Most Subaru exhaust stuff doesn't swap very freely between the different era and body style cars.

Just my .002 cents.

I tried several years ago to put an STi catback on a 91 Legacy. Its not a bolt up job. If you are wanting it that bad, spend about $60 and take it and the car to a muffler shop.

thats the clean install of a 05 STi axle back on my 92 Legacy Turbo Sport Sedan.

for a 91 legacy NA you are barking up the wrong tree..if you had factory turbo engine, maybe like me, but on a ej22 NA no go.

even that mount hook had to get cut off and rewelded..like in the pic

i put a WRX stock cat-back on my 94 Ti i had a few years back. there was no difference in how it pulled, it was still slow, but it gave it a nice sound and anytime you put a freer flowing exhaust you will be more efficient.

so will you feel the difference, no unless you have a problem like a clogged cat. will it sound different and look nice. i think so.

Hmm well I do think my cat is clogged. also I wouldn't mind a little more noise. I might try to get an STi muffler and make the rest from scratch. My buddy is more than willing to fab me up an exhaust with his handy dandy welder.
